Scotiabank expects that the US economic performance will play a key role in Mexican growth and is likely to be a challenge for the Mexican economy. About two-thirds of the Mexican recovery from the 2020 pandemic low is accounted for by exports to the US, which is now broadly expected to fall into a technical recession in 2023. As expected, Mexico's central bank raised interest rates to 11% in February 2023.
