Mexican vehicle sales dive 19.4% in December, 28.0% for full-year 2020
On January 6, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 105,135 light vehicles in December 2020, representing a 19.4% decrease from the 130,448 sales in December 2019.
In 2020, Mexican light vehicle sales decreased 28.0% to 949,121 unites.
In 2020, Nissan sold 194,427 units, a decrease of 27.5% from the previous year.
General Motors sales of 150,256 units in 2020 had decreased 29.1% from 2019.
Volkswagen Group sold 125,895 units, a decrease of 30.7%, and Toyota sold 76,577 units, an decrease of 27.5%.
Kia sales of 73,620 units in 2020 decreased 22.9% from the last year.
FCA sales decreased 22.7% to 49,106 units, while Honda sales decreased 34.3% to 47,982 units in 2020.
Mazda sold 46,117 units, a decrease of 23.2% from the last year.
Ford Motor sales decreased 35.4% to 37,162 units, while Hyundai sales decreased 29.3% to 32,231 units in 2020.
BAIC sales were down 52.2% to 1,544 units in 2020, while JAC sales were down 10.3% to 4,039 vehicles, built by Giant Motors.

Mexican vehicle sales fall 23.5% in November
On December 2, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 95,485 light vehicles in November, representing a 23.5% decrease from the 124,797 sales in November 2019. COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic impacted sales.
General Motors sold 14,115 units in November, a decrease of 30.1% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 12,854 units in November had decreased 23.9% from the same month in 2019.
Ford sold 3,460 units, a decrease of 29.0%, and FCA sold 4,991 units, a decrease of 22.0%.
Nissan sales of 18,428 units in November decreased 27.8% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales decreased 26.2% to 7,757 units, while Mazda sales decreased 6.9% to 5,768 units in November.
Honda sold 4,278 units, a decrease of 33.1% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 7,819 units in November, a decrease of 8.4% from 2019, while Hyundai sales decreased 26.4% to 3,281 units.
China’s BAIC sold 190 vehicles in Mexico in November, a 41.2% decrease from the same month one year ago, while JAC sold 460 vehicles, a 6.1% decrease from last November.

Mexican vehicle sales decrease 21.3% in October
On October 2, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 84,307 light vehicles in October, representing a 21.3% decrease from the 107,094 sales in October 2019.
General Motors sold 12,212 units in October, a decrease of 26.9% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 12,018 units in October had decreased 23.0% from the same month in 2019.
Ford sold 3,321 units, a decrease of 21.5%, and FCA sold 4,016 units, a decrease of 21.7%.
Nissan sales of 17,953 units in October decreased 20.3% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales decreased 31.5% to 5,408 units, while Mazda sales decreased 4.7% to 4,428 units in October.
Honda sold 4,705 units, a decrease of 14.9% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 7,405 units in October, a decrease of 9.8% from 2019, while Hyundai sales decreased 30.1% to 2,669 units.
China’s BAIC sold 144 vehicles in Mexico in October, a 38.5% decrease from the same month one year ago, while JAC sold 401 vehicles, a 1.0% decrease from last October.

Mexican vehicle sales fall 22.8% in September
On September 2, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 77,784 light vehicles in September, representing a 22.8% decrease from the 100,734 sales in September 2019.
General Motors sold 10,288 units in September, a decrease of 40.4% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 10,441 units in September had decreased 25.1% from the same month in 2019.
Ford sold 3,017 units, a decrease of 24.0%, and FCA sold 4,034 units, a decrease of 18.7%.
Nissan sales of 17,072 units in September decreased 10.7% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales decreased 40.2% to 4,936 units, while Mazda sales decreased 4.8% to 4,089 units in September.
Honda sold 4,671 units, a decrease of 14.5% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 6,803 units in September, a decrease of 11.8% from 2019, while Hyundai sales decreased 32.8% to 2,460 units.
China’s BAIC sold 138 vehicles in Mexico in September, a 54.9% decrease from the same month one year ago, while JAC sold 352 vehicles, a 6.6% decrease from last September.

Mexican vehicle sales decrease 28.7% in August
On August 2, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 77,092 light vehicles in August, representing a 28.7% decrease from the 108,058 sales in August 2019.
General Motors sold 12,115 units in August, a decrease of 27.6% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 9,559 units in August had decreased 35.4% from the same month in 2019.
Ford sold 2,787 units, a decrease of 45.1%, and FCA sold 3,317 units, a decrease of 35.0%.
Nissan sales of 16,540 units in August decreased 26.4% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales decreased 28.3% to 6,532 units, while Mazda sales decreased 34.8% to 3,166 units in August.
Honda sold 4,232 units, a decrease of 24.4% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 6,309 units in August, an decrease of 21.6% from 2019, while Hyundai sales decreased 27.4% to 2,714 units.
China’s BAIC sold 141 vehicles in Mexico in August, a 51.9% decrease from the same month one year ago, and JAC sold 370 vehicles in August.

On August 2, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 72,897 light vehicles in July, representing a 31.3% decrease from the 106,093 sales in July 2019.
General Motors sold 11,997 units in July, a decrease of 30.6% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 9,437 units in July had decreased 37.5% from the same month in 2019.
Ford sold 2,425 units, a decrease of 51.1%, and FCA sold 3,520 units, a decrease of 28.9%.
Nissan sales of 14,981 units in July decreased 28.6% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales decreased 32.1% to 6,352 units, while Mazda sales decreased 47.7% to 2,524 units in July.
Honda sold 3,576 units, a decrease of 32.1% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 5,606 units in July, an decrease of 26.4% from 2019, while Hyundai sales decreased 19.5% to 2,775 units.
China’s BAIC sold 103 vehicles in Mexico in July, a 49.5% decrease from the same month one year ago, and JAC sold 312 vehicles in July.

General Motors sold 10,099 units in June, a decrease of 37.8% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 7,227 units in June had decreased 50.1% from the same month in 2019.
Ford sold 2,768 units, a decrease of 41.5%, and FCA sold 3,909 units, a decrease of 35.0%.
Nissan sales of 11,640 units in June decreased 46.3 % from the same month last year.
Toyota sales decreased 42.9% to 5,428 units, while Mazda sales decreased 2.3% to 4,133 units in June.
Honda sold 2,722 units, a decrease of 53.0% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 4,550 units in June, a decrease of 40.9% from 2019, while Hyundai sales decreased 31.9% to 2,317 units.
China’s BAIC sold 70 vehicles in Mexico in June, a 71.5% decrease from the same month in 2019, while JAC sold 248 vehicles built in Mexico by Giant Motors.

Mexican vehicle sales drop 59.0% in May
On June 3, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 42,028 light vehicles in May, representing a 59.0% decrease from the 102,402 sales in May 2019.
General Motors sold 5,812 units in May, a decrease of 64.0% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 4,171 units in May had decreased 71.8% from the same month in 2019.
Ford sold 2,412 units, a decrease of 49.0%, and FCA sold 2,437 units, a decrease of 53.5%.
Nissan sales of 8,752 units in May decreased 55.9% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales decreased 35.6% to 4,131 units, while Mazda sales decreased 49.9% to 2,324 units in May.
Honda sold 1,943 units, a decrease of 68.4% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 2,795 units in May, a decrease of 64.4% from 2019, while Hyundai sales decreased 54.6% to 1,686 units.
China’s BAIC sold 34 vehicles in Mexico in May, a 82.7% decrease from the same month in 2019, while JAC sold 158 vehicles built in Mexico by Giant Motors.

Mexican vehicle sales plunge 64.4% in April as COVID-19 continues
On May 6, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 34,903 light vehicles in April, representing a 64.5% decrease from the 98,346 sales in April 2019, due to major disruptions in the marketplace due to the coronavirus pandemic.
General Motors sold 5,716 units in April, a decrease of 64.6% from the previous year.
Ford sold 2,056 units, a decrease of 58.4%, and FCA sold 1,761 units, a decrease of 63.2%.
Volkswagen Group sales of 4,779 units in April had decreased 65.8% from the same month in 2019.
Nissan sales of 6,919 units in April decreased 62.1% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales decreased 53.3% to 3,386 units, while Mazda sales decreased 55.3% to 1,920 units in April.
Honda sold 1,206 units, a decrease of 76.4% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 2,103 units in April, a decrease of 71.7% from 2019, while Hyundai sales decreased 70.3% to 1,039 units.
China’s BAIC sold 45 units, a decrease of 80.8% from April 2019.
JAC sold 137 vehicles, a decrease of 43.2% from the same month in 2019.

On April 2, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 87,517 light vehicles in March, representing a 25.5% decrease from the same month in 2019.
General Motors sold 16,528 units in March, an decrease of 9.6% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 11,919 units in March had decreased 19.5% from the same month in 2019.
Ford sold 2,968 units, a decrease of 45.3%, and FCA sold 4,428 units, a decrease of 16.7%.
Nissan sales of 17,520 units in March decreased 31.1% from the same month last year.
Toyota sold 8,282 units, a decrease of 7.2% from March 2019.
Honda sold 3,787 units, a decrease of 48.7% from the same month last year, while Mazda sales decreased 43.1% to 3,432 units.
Kia sold 6,995 units in March, a decrease of 16.8% from 2019, while Hyundai sales fell 40.1% to 2,338 units.
China’s BAIC sold 121 vehicles in March, a 58.7% decrease from the same month in 2019.
With local production at Giant Motors, JAC sold 247 units in March.

Ford sold 3,831 units, a decrease of 21.0%, and FCA sold 5,420 units, a increase of 14.5%.
Nissan sales of 22,280 units in February decreased 2.0% from the same month last year.
Toyota sold 7,844 units, a decrease of 3.7% from February 2019.
Honda sold 5,451 units, a decrease of 18.3% from the same month last year, while Mazda sales decreased 6.6% to 4,706 units.
Kia sold 7,840 units in February, an increase of 1.8% from 2019, while Hyundai sales were flat at 3,604 units, just two less than in February 2019.
China’s BAIC sold 195 vehicles in February, 38.5% less than the same month in 2019.
With local production at Giant Motors, JAC sold 406 units in February.

Mexican vehicle sales fall 6.0% in January
On February 5, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 104,832 light vehicles in January 2020, representing a 6.0% decrease from the same month in 2019.
General Motors sold 16,358 units in January, a decrease of 10.2% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 15,283 units in January had increased 2.4% from the same month in 2019.
Ford sold 4,172 units, a decrease of 16.7%, and FCA sold 4,689 units, a decrease of 11.1%.
Nissan sales of 20,980 units in January decreased 10.0% from the same month last year.
Toyota sold 8,126 units, a decrease of 9.3% from 2019, and Honda sold 6,645 units, a decrease of 4.4% from January 2019.
Mazda sales decreased by 6.6% compared to January 2019 to 4,784 units.
Kia sold 7,754 units in January, a decrease of 3.2% from 2019, while Hyundai sales increased 7.8% to 4,000 units.
China’s BAIC sales of 209 units in January represented a 42.4% decrease from the same month in 2019.
JAC sold 418 units in Mexico in January 2019.
