On January 2, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 130,488 light vehicles in December, representing an 8.3% decrease from the 142,284 sales in December 2018 while full-year sales of 1,317,734 vehicles in 2019 were down 7.7% from 2018’s accumulated total.
General Motors sold 23,997 units in December, a decrease of 17.6% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 18,219 units in December had increased 5.5% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 4,758 units, a decrease of 19.4%, and FCA sold 5,629 units, a decrease of 7.9%.
Nissan sales of 26,271 units in December decreased 11.3% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales decreased 9.7% to 11,321 units, while Mazda sales decreased 2.5% to 5,906 units in December.
Honda sold 6,669 units, a decrease of 25.3% from the same month last year.
Hyundai sales increased 3.7% to 4,657 units, while Kia sales were relatively flat at 8,319 units, an increase of only 2 units more than December 2018.
BAIC sales were down 30.2% to 220 units in December, while Giant Motors sold 521 JAC vehicles.

On December 4, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 124,797 light vehicles in November, representing an 7.0% decrease from the same month in 2018.
General Motors sold 20,201 units (a 16.2% market share) in November, a decrease of 16.4% from last year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 16,891 units (13.5%) in November had decreased 11.1% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 4,873 units (3.9%), a decrease of 13.8%, and FCA sold 6,398 (5.1%) units, a decrease of 4.1%.
Nissan sales of 25,519 units (20.4%) in November decreased 10.5% from the same month last year.
Toyota sold 10,516 units (8.4%), a decrease of 1.0% from 2018, and Honda sold 6,391 units (5.1%), a decrease of 2.5% from October 2018.
Mazda sales increased 3.8% to 6,194 units (5.0%).
Kia sold 8,533 units (6.8%) in November, an increase of 0.3% from 2018, while Hyundai sales increased 3.5% to 4,456 units (3.6%) in November.
BAIC sold 323 vehicles (0.3%) in Mexico in November, while Giant Motors sold 490 JAC vehicles (0.4%).
Following this result, AMDA's sales expectation for 2019 remains at 1.3 million units.

On November 4, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 107,094 light vehicles in October, representing an 8.9% decrease from the same month in 2018.
While the figures meant 8 months decrease in a row, the industry reported a recovery of 6.3 percent compared to September 2019 which was the largest decline in the industry for a month since March 2018.
The Mexican Association of Automotive Dealers explained that this negative trend is because potential consumers of vehicles continue to delay their purchase decision due to the reduction in employment, the increase in insecurity in some regions and the stagnation of the economy.
General Motors sold 16,696 units (a 15.6% market share) in October, a decrease of 13.8% from last year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 15,604 units (14.6%) in October had decreased 13.7% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 4,233 units (4.0%), a decrease of 20.7%, and FCA sold 5,126 (4.8%) units, a decrease of 9.6%.
Nissan sales of 22,536 units (21.0%) in October decreased 8.1% from the same month last year.
Toyota sold 7,898 units (7.4%), a decrease of 7.9% from 2018, and Honda sold 5,529 units (5.2%), a decrease of 5.0% from October 2018.
Mazda sales decreased 7.3% to 4,645 units (4.3%).
Kia sold 8,211 units (7.7%) in October, a decrease of 2.2% from 2018, while Hyundai sales decreased 8.0% to 3,817 units (3.6%) in October.
BAIC sold 234 vehicles (0.2%) in Mexico in October, while Giant Motors sold 405 JAC vehicles (0.4%).

Mexican vehicle sales drop 12.1% in September
On October 2, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 100,734 light vehicles in September, representing a 12.1% decrease from the 114,653 sales in September 2018.
General Motors sold 17,270 units in September, a decrease of 8.1% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 13,932 units in September had decreased 10.2% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 3,968 units, a decrease of 19.3%, and FCA sold 4,961 units, a decrease of 23.6%.
Nissan sales of 19,124 units in September decreased 24.5% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales increased 0.2% to 8,258 units, while Mazda sales decreased 9.3% to 4,296 units in September.
Honda sold 5,461 units, a decrease of 6.2% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 7,714 units in September, a decrease of 3.6% from 2018, while Hyundai sales decreased 10.9% to 3,659 units.
China’s BAIC sold 306 vehicles in Mexico in September, while Giant Motors sold 377 JAC vehicles.

On September 5, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 107,651 light vehicles in August, representing a 9.3% decrease from the 118,715 sales in August 2018.
General Motors sold 16,742 units in August, a decrease of 18.6% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 14,686 units in August had decreased 10.0% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 5,076 units, a decrease of 12.2%, and FCA sold 5,106 units, a decrease of 31.4%.
Nissan sales of 22,475 units in August decreased 13.6% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales increased 5.5% to 9,106 units, while Mazda sales decreased 3.7% to 4,856 units in August.
Honda sold 5,599 units, a decrease of 11.1% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 8,045 units in August, an increase of 0.1% from 2018, while Hyundai sales decreased 11.6% to 3,736 units.
China’s BAIC sold 293 vehicles in Mexico in August.

Mexican vehicle sales decrease 7.9% in July
On August 2, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 105,699 light vehicles in July, representing a 7.9% decrease from the 114,811 sales in July 2018.
General Motors sold 17,283 units in July, a decrease of 13.2% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 15,091 units in July had decreased 6.8% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 4,962 units, a decrease of 11.3%, and FCA (including Mitsubishi) sold 6,362 units, a decrease of 11.4%.
Nissan sales of 20,976 units in July decreased 13.5% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales increased 14.1% to 9,356 units, while Mazda sales decreased 3.7% to 4,826 units in July.
Honda sold 5,265 units, a decrease of 23.5% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 7,615 units in July, an increase of 1.4% from 2018, while Hyundai sales decreased 15.9% to 3,447 units.
China’s BAIC sold 204 vehicles in Mexico in July, a 28.9% decrease from the same month one year ago.

Mexican vehicle sales drop 11.4% in June
On July 3, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 106,398 light vehicles in June, representing an 11.4% decrease from the 120,069 sales in June 2018.
General Motors sold 16,240 units in June, a decrease of 23.8% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 14,374 units in June had decreased 7.4% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 4,732 units, a decrease of 22.5%, and FCA sold 6,013 units, a decrease of 8.9%.
Nissan sales of 21,667 units in June decreased 16.9% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales increased 9.3% to 9,510 units, while Mazda sales decreased 7.3% to 4,229 units in June.
Honda sold 5,795 units, a decrease of 18.9% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 7,704 units in June, an increase of 4.8% from 2018, while Hyundai sales decreased 21.1% to 3,404 units.
China’s BAIC sold 246 vehicles in Mexico in June, a 22.4% increase from the 201 vehicles sold in June 2018.

Mexican vehicle sales fall 11.0% in May
On June 4, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 101,939 light vehicles in May, representing an 11.0% decrease from the 114,492 sales in May 2018.
General Motors sold 16,146 units in May, a decrease of 19.7% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 14,162 units in May had decreased 7.1% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 4,727 units, a decrease of 18.4%, and FCA sold 5,241 units, a decrease of 28.4%.
Nissan sales of 19,840 units in May decreased 20.8% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales decreased 28.3% to 6,414 units, while Mazda sales increased 7.6% to 4,642 units in May.
Honda sold 6,151 units, a decrease of 13.7% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 7,852 units in May, an increase of 6.0% from 2018, while Hyundai sales decreased 7.3% to 3,711 units.
China’s BAIC sold 197 vehicles in Mexico in May.

On May 3, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 98,105 light vehicles in April, representing a 10.2% decrease from the 109,265 sales in April 2018.
General Motors sold 16,148 units in April, a decrease of 14.6% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 13,989 units in April had decreased 8.1% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 4,948 units, a decrease of 7.8%, and FCA sold 4,779 units, a decrease of 28.5%.
Nissan sales of 18,275 units in April decreased 18.9% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales decreased 15.4% to 7,245 units, while Mazda sales increased 2.4% to 4,298 units in April.
Honda sold 5,121 units, a decrease of 18.5% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 7,429 units in April, a decrease of 1.0% from 2018, while Hyundai sales decreased 22.2% to 3,502 units.
China’s BAIC sold 234 vehicles in Mexico in April.

Mexican vehicle sales slide 1.2% in March
On April 3, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 117,122 light vehicles in March, representing a 1.2% decrease from the 118,600 sales in March 2018.
General Motors sold 18,288 units in March, a decrease of 6.8% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 14,803 units in March had decreased 8.4% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 5,430 units, a decrease of 7.3%, and FCA sold 7,028 units, a decrease of 3.5%.
Nissan sales of 25,434 units in March decreased 10.6% from the same month last year.
Toyota sales increased 7.3% to 8,927 units, while Mazda sales increased 45.8% to 6,031 units in March.
Honda sold 7,386 units, a decrease of 1.5% from the same month last year.
Kia sold 8,404 units in March, an increase of 9.7% from 2018, while Hyundai sales decreased 2.5% to 3,902 units.
China’s BAIC sold 293 vehicles in Mexico in March.

Mexican vehicle sales fall 5.3% in February following uptick in January
On February 4, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 103,679 light vehicles in February, representing a 5.3% decrease from the same month in 2018.
February’s decline follows monthly vehicle sales in January which had increased from the same month in 2018 for the first time after 19 consecutive months of decreases from the corresponding month in the previous year.
General Motors sold 14,754 units in February, a decrease of 4.0% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 14,168 units in February had decreased 7.0% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 4,848 units, a decrease of 20.3%, and FCA sold 5,918 units, a decrease of 16.5%.
Nissan sales of 22,724 units in February decreased 10.1% from the same month last year.
Toyota sold 8,148 units, virtually the same as the 8,152 units sold in February 2018.
Honda sold 6,672 units, a decrease of 5.9% from the same month last year, while Mazda sales increased 15.7% to 5,036 units.
Kia sold 7,703 units in February, an increase of 1.2% from 2018, while Hyundai sales decreased 10.0% to 3,606 units.

Mexican vehicle sales increase 1.9% in January after 19 consecutive monthly declines
On February 6, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 111,212 light vehicles in January 2019, representing a 1.9% increase from the same month in 2018.
After 19 consecutive months of declines, January was the first month that sales have been more than the corresponding month one year earlier.
General Motors sold 18,222 units in January, an increase of 106.9% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 14,921 units in January had decreased 9.6% from the same month in 2018.
Ford sold 5,008 units, a decrease of 21.8%, and FCA sold 6,712 units, a decrease of 10.7%.
Nissan sales of 23,315 units in January decreased 11.7% from the same month last year.
Toyota sold 8,964 units, a decrease of 3.3% from 2018, and Honda sold 6,948 units, a decrease of 17.1% from January 2018.
Mazda sales increased by 8.3% compared to January 2018 to 5,122 units.
Kia sold 8,010 units in January, an increase of 1.0% from 2018, while Hyundai sales decreased 2.5% to 3,710 units.
China’s BAIC sold 363 vehicles in Mexico in January.
