History

1985 Rieter Holding Ltd. established, listed on the Zurich stock exchange.
1987 Acquired Schubert & Salzer GmbH in Ingolstadt, Germany (rotor spinning machines).
1992 Acquired Automatik-Apparate-Maschinenbau GmbH in Grossostheim, Germany (synthetic fiber and palletizing machinery).
1994 Acquired Firth Furnishings Ltd. in Heckmondwike, U.K. (car carpets). Acquired Elitex in Usti nad Orlici, Czech Republic (rotor spinning machines).
1995 Unikeller Division is renamed Rieter Automotive Systems.
1996 Acquired Fimit S.p.A. in Turin, Italy (components for motor vehicles).
Sep. 1996 Joint-venture with Magee in Bloomsburg (Pennsylvania), USA (car carpets).
Jul. 1997 Acquired the whole of Brazilian corporate group Ello S.A. Based in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Ello is the manufacturer of interior trim and employs a workforce of some 600 in two plants.
Oct. 1997 Opened a new 2,000-square-meter manufacturing facility in Sevelen, Switzerland, where the underfloor system for the new Mercedes A-Class is developed and manufactured.
Feb. 1998 Signed cooperation and licensing agreements with Garni Auto of Morocco and Hirotani of Malaysia.
Mar. 1998 Established a joint venture in Turkey with a local company Erkurt.
Apr. 1998 Formed a joint venture with Feltex Automotive, a division of Island View Holdings Ltd in Rosslyn/Pretoria, South Africa. The operation produces floor systems and interior trim.
Jun. 1998 Established just-in-time operations at the Volvo industry park in Arendal, Sweden, three kilometres from the vehicle manufacturer's assembly plant in Torslanda.
Jul. 1998 Established production facilities in Katowice, Poland. The plant produces parts for the Fiat Palio, the Sienna and the Fiat 600 models such as acoustic components, parcel shelves and heat shields.
Dec. 1999 Adapted its business organization to the structural changes and bundled its business activities into three Business Groups. All new appointments and changes will be effective January 1, 2000.
Feb. 2000 The Company and the Japanese vehicle components producer Nihon Tokushu Toryo Co. strengthened their cooperation by agreeing to acquire cross shareholdings. The two companies have operated a joint-venture in North America since 1986, under the name of UGN.
Apr. 2000 Acquisition of two ICBT units in Valence, France (nonwoven machinery and yarn processing machinery).
Aug. 2000 Signed a license agreement with the Thai company Summit Auto Seats Industry Co., Ltd. The licensed products are textile floor carpets, NVH products and under shields.
Sep. 2000 Acquired a majority interest in an automotive engineering company called the Idea Institute, in Turin, Italy. The Idea Institute is a developmental partner of major international carmakers such as Fiat. The acquisition was expected to expand its know-how in the field of automotive design.
Aug. 2001 The Company and the Austrian company, Durmont entered into a strategic alliance. Durmont located in Hartberg, Austria, produces carpet products for the domestic and object market. The objective of the alliance is to jointly develop high-end carpet products for the automotive industry mainly in Europe.
Jan. 2003 The Company has increased its share-holding in Spanish automotive supplier Saifa-Keller S.A. to 50%. The Company previously held a minority interest in this supplier based in Terrassa, Barcelona and has been a joint venture partner of the company since 1975. The remaining shares will continue to be held by members of the co-founding families.
2006 Acquired Rieter Automotive India (formerly Unikeller India).
2008 Increased stake to 100% in Saifa-Keller, Spain.
Apr. 2011 Rieter Group transferred its all entities of Automotive Systems business and formed a new company "Autoneum Holding Ltd."
2013 Sold its subsidiary, Autoneum Italy S.p.A., to mutares AG.
2014 Established Joint Venture Autoneum Korea Ltd. in South Korea.
Feb. 2016 UGN, Inc., a U.S.-based joint venture of Autoneum and Japanese automotive supplier Nihon Tokushu Toryo (Nittoku), has sold its business in Chicago Heights, Illinois, USA, to an affiliate of the private investment firm Angeles Equity Partners.
Jun. 2016

Broke ground on June 6 on the new facility at its automotive manufacturing plant in Aiken, South Carolina with USD 35 million investment.

Aug. 2016 Inaugurated a new plant in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, its third in the country.
Dec. 2016 Expanding its presence in China with the opening of its seventh plant for the production of lightweight acoustic and thermal management components in the eastern Chinese city of Yantai.
Jan. 2017 Establish a Competence Center for New Mobility in Sunnyvale, California. New technologies and products for acoustic and thermal management. 
Oct. 2017 With four additional plants, significantly expanding its production capacities in China. At the new plant in the Eastern Chinese city of Yantai (Shandong Province), the production of inner dashes and carpet systems has already started. Around 250,000 vehicles of Chinese vehicle manufacturers will be supplied with components from Yantai each year.
May 2018 Opened a plant for the manufacture of lightweight components for acoustic and thermal management in Komarom, Hungary.
Sep. 2018 Opened of two new plants in China, Pinghu (Zhejiang Province) manufacture underbody systems made of Ultra-Silent for European, US-American and Chinese customers, and Shenyang Tiexi (Liaoning Province).
Jan. 2023 Signed an agreement to acquire the automotive business of Borgers Group, with the enterprise value paid amounting to EUR 117 million.
