Brazilian vehicle production up 6.7%, exports down 17.9% in 2018
On January 8, the Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian vehicle production (excluding CKD production) in December of 177,700 units represented a 16.8% decrease from December 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in December, 147,931 were passenger cars; 21,284 were light commercial vehicles; 7,379 were trucks, and 1,106 were buses.
Accumulated vehicle production of 2,880,724 units in 2018 represented an increase of 6.7% from 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in 2018, 2,386,144 were passenger cars; 360,510 were light commercial vehicles; 105,534 were trucks, and 28,536 were buses.
Exports of 31,709 assembled vehicles in December represented a decrease of 48.1% from the units exported in December 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in December, 22,787 were passenger cars; 6,993 were light commercial vehicles; 1,055 were trucks, and 874 were buses.
The 629,175 vehicles exported in 2018 represented a decrease of 17.9% from 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in 2018, 500,343 were passenger cars; 95,089 were light commercial vehicles; 24,642 were trucks, and 9,101 were buses.
A total of 14,425 complete knock down (CKD) kits were exported in 2018, comprised of 960 passenger cars, 10,305 truck and 3,160 bus kits

Brazilian vehicle production down 1.6%, exports down 53.0% in November
On December 6, the Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian vehicle production (excluding CKD production) in November of 245,126 units represented a 6.9% decrease from October and 1.6% decrease from November 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in November, 204,944 were passenger cars; 28,118 were commercial vehicles; 9,985 were trucks, and 2,079 were buses.
Accumulated vehicle production of 2,703,379 units in the first eleven months of 2018 represented an increase of 8.8% from the same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in the first eleven months of 2018, 2,238,587 were passenger cars; 339,255 were commercial vehicles; 98,097 were trucks, and 27,440 were buses.
Exports of 34,353 assembled vehicles in November represented a decrease of 53.0% from the units exported in November 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in November, 25,710 were passenger cars; 6,203 were commercial vehicles; 1,318 were trucks, and 1,122 were buses.
The 597,378 vehicles exported in the first eleven months of 2018 represented a decrease of 15.3% from same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in the first eleven months of 2018, 477,556 were passenger cars; 88,072 were commercial vehicles; 23,513 were trucks, and 8,237 were buses.
A total of 570 complete knock down (CKD) kits were exported in November, comprised of 477 truck and 93 bus kits.

Brazilian vehicle production up 5.2%, exports down 37.3% in October
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian vehicle production (excluding CKD production) in October of 263,262 units represented an increase of 5.2% from October 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in October, 221,395 were passenger cars; 28,699 were commercial vehicles; 10,858 were trucks, and 2,310 were buses.
Accumulated vehicle production of 2,458,329 units in the first ten months of 2018 represented an increase of 9.9% from the same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in the first ten months of 2018, 2,033,719 were passenger cars; 311,137 were commercial vehicles; 88,112 were trucks, and 25,361 were buses.
Exports of 38,734 assembled vehicles in October represented a decrease of 37.3% from the units exported in October 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in October, 32,575 were passenger cars; 3,779 were commercial vehicles; 1,731 were trucks, and 649 were buses.
The 563,025 vehicles exported in the first ten months of 2018 represented a decrease of 10.9% from same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in the first ten months of 2018, 451,841 were passenger cars; 81,874 were commercial vehicles; 22,195 were trucks, and 7,115 were buses.
A total of 1,387 complete knock down (CKD) kits were exported in October, comprised of 100 passenger car, 1,156 truck and 131 bus kits.

The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian vehicle production (excluding CKD production) in September of 223,115 units represented an decrease of 6.3% from September 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in September, 187,002 were passenger cars; 24,748 were commercial vehicles; 9,115 were trucks, and 2,250 were buses.
Accumulated vehicle production of 2,194,754 units in the first nine months of 2018 represented an increase of 10.5% from the same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in the first nine months of 2018, 1,812,401 were passenger cars; 282,048 were commercial vehicles; 77,254 were trucks, and 23,051 were buses.
Exports of 39,449 assembled vehicles in September represented a decrease of 34.5% from the units exported in September 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in September, 29,713 were passenger cars; 7,281 were commercial vehicles; 1,794 were trucks, and 661 were buses.
The 524,289 vehicles exported in the first nine months of 2018 represented a decrease of 8.0% from same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in the first nine months of 2018, 419,170 were passenger cars; 78,189 were commercial vehicles; 20,464 were trucks, and 6,466 were buses.
A total of 1,458 complete knock down (CKD) kits were exported in September, comprised of 1,160 truck and 298 bus kits.

On September 6, the Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian vehicle production (excluding CKD production) in August of 291,425 units represented an increase of 11.7% from August 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in August, 242,668 were passenger cars; 36,193 were commercial vehicles; 9,576 were trucks, and 2,988 were buses.
Accumulated vehicle production of 1,971,752 units in the first eight months of 2018 represented an increase of 12.8% from the same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in the first eight months of 2018, 1,624,534 were passenger cars; 258,498 were commercial vehicles; 67,941 were trucks, and 20,779 were buses.
Exports of 56,104 assembled vehicles in August represented a decrease of 16.6%% from the units exported in August 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in August, 47,524 were passenger cars; 5,856 were commercial vehicles; 2,161 were trucks, and 563 were buses.
The 468,463 vehicles exported in the first eight months of 2018 represented a decrease of 4.6% from same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in the first eight months of 2018, 393,617 were passenger cars; 68,415 were commercial vehicles; 18,638 were trucks, and 5,793 were buses.
A total of 2,026 complete knock down (CKD) kits were exported in August, comprised of 100 passenger car, 1,502 truck, and 424 bus kits.

Accumulated vehicle production of 1,680,327 units in the first seven months of 2018 represented an increase of 13.0% from the same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in the first six months of 2018, 1,381,866 were passenger cars; 222,305 were commercial vehicles; 58,365 were trucks, and 17,791 were buses.
Exports of 51,358 assembled vehicles in July represented a decrease of 21.7% from the units exported in July 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in July, 43,401 were passenger cars; 5,301 were commercial vehicles; 2,148 were trucks, and 508 were buses.
The 379,001 vehicles exported in the first six months of 2018 represented an increase of 16.7% from same period in 2017.

Accumulated vehicle production of 1,434,506 units in the first six months of 2018 represented an increase of 13.6% from the same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in the first six months of 2018, 1,181,760 were passenger cars; 188,226 were commercial vehicles; 49,587 were trucks, and 14,933 were buses.
Exports of 64,910 assembled vehicles in June represented a decrease of 4.4% from the units exported in June 2017.

Brazilian vehicle production up 40.4%, exports up 19.5% in April
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian vehicle production (excluding CKD production) in April of 266,111 units represented an increase of 40.4% from April 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in April, 216,933 were passenger cars; 36,783 were commercial vehicles; 9,095 were trucks, and 3,300 were buses.
Accumulated vehicle production of 965,865 units in the first four months of 2018 represented an increase of 20.7% from the same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles produced in the first four months of 2018, 793,280 were passenger cars; 128,870 were commercial vehicles; 33,529 were trucks, and 10,186 were buses.
Exports of 73,152 assembled vehicles in April represented an increase of 19.5% from the units exported in April 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in April, 56,084 were passenger cars; 13,569 were commercial vehicles; 2,736 were trucks, and 763 were buses.
The 253,359 vehicles exported in the first four months of 2018 represented an increase of 7.5% from same period in 2017.
Of the vehicles exported in the first four months of 2018, 201,264 were passenger cars; 38,792 were commercial vehicles; 10,067 were trucks, and 3,236 were buses.

Brazilian vehicle sales up 9.6% in March, production up 13.5%
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in March increased 9.6% year-over-year (y/y) to 207,365 units.
Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 0.1% to 27,509 units. VW's sales increased 25.6% to 24,136 units. Fiat Chrysler's sales increased 4.7% to 22,300 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA's sales decreased 1.3% to 9,949 units. VW's sales increased 11.8% to 4,735 units. Toyota's sales increased 14.0% to 3,228 units.
The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The GM Onix took the top spot with sales of 12,918 units. The Ford KA was number 2 with 9,803 units, followed by the Hyundai HB20 with 9,217 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Strada took the top spot with sales of 5,595 units, followed by the VW Saveiro with 3,671 units, and the Fiat Toro was number 3 with 3,493 units.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles increased 7.4% y/y to 176,364 units (market share of 88.0%), diesel vehicles were up 20.4% from a year ago with 16,717 units (market share of 8.3%), gasoline vehicles increased 18.3% to 6,946 units (market share of 3.5%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 61.7% to 367 units.
As for March production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 13.5% to 267,460 units. Exports in March decreased 2.6% to 67,488 units.

Brazilian vehicle sales up 15.7% in February, production up 6.2%
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in February increased 15.7% year-over-year (y/y) to 156,905 units.
Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 18.5% to 24,403 units. VW's sales increased 31.7% to 18,030 units. Fiat Chrysler's sales decreased 7.8% to 15,573 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA's sales decreased 1.0% to 7,765 units. VW's sales increased 19.0% to 4,231 units. GM's sales increased 13.8% to 2,991 units.

The Hyundai HB20 was number 2 with 7,364 units, followed by the Ford KA with 6,570 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Strada took the top spot with sales of 4,137 units, followed by the Fiat Toro with 3,052 units, and the VW Saveiro was number 3 with 2,957 units.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles increased 13.2% y/y to 133,063 units (market share of 87.5%), diesel vehicles were up 25.4% from a year ago with 13,331 units (market share of 8.8%), gasoline vehicles increased 23.3% to 5,346 units (market share of 3.5%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 61.8% to 254 units.
As for February production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 6.2% to 213,480 units. Exports in February decreased 1.2% to 66,314 units.

Brazilian vehicle sales up 23.1% in January, production up 24.6%
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in January increased 23.1% year-over-year (y/y) to 181,266 units.
Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 24.3% to 30,246 units. VW's sales increased 51.1% to 22,077 units. Fiat Chrysler's sales increased 16.9% to 20,455 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA's sales increased 20.5% to 10,050 units. VW's sales increased 21.1% to 4,266 units. GM's sales increased 10.3% to 3,658 units.

The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The GM Onix took the top spot with sales of 16,058 units. The Ford KA was number 2 with 7,656 units, followed by the Hyundai HB20 with 7,436 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Strada took the top spot with sales of 5,372 units, followed by the Fiat Toro with 3,893 units, and the VW Saveiro was number 3 with 3,155 units.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles increased 21.4% y/y to 154,302 units (market share of 87.7%), diesel vehicles were up 30.0% from a year ago with 15,345 units (market share of 8.7%), gasoline vehicles increased 26.9% to 5,938 units (market share of 3.4%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 52.8% to 272 units.

As for January production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 24.6% to 216,834 units. Exports in January increased 23.6% to 47,029 units.
