The 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Shanghai Motor Show 2023 / Auto Shanghai 2023) opened at the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Shanghai. April 18-19, 2023 were press days, open to Chinese and international media only; April 20-21were for industry professionals; and April 22-27 were for the general public. The theme of this year's event was "Embracing the New Era of the Automobile Industry." More than 1,000 companies exhibited, and covered a total exhibition space of more than 360,000 square meters. Thirteen indoor exhibition halls were used to create a passenger car exhibit zone, an automotive technology and supply chain zone, and a media zone.
China FAW's Hongqi brand exhibited the Hongqi E001 mid-size electric sedan, the Hongqi E202 electric SUV, and the Hongqi L5 luxury sedan from its New Energy series at the show. In addition, China FAW Group Co., Ltd. (FAW) launched the luxury sedan "Hongqi H6". In addition, the electric platform "HME" and the intelligent platform "HIS", two major technology platforms based on the high-end architecture "FMEs", were simultaneously unveiled. The Bestune brand exhibited the new compact SUV "Bestune T90" and the first compact EV "Bestune Xiaoma", two platforms (FMA and FME), armored batteries, a 3-in-1 electric drive system, and the brand launched the new MPV "Bestune M9".
Under the theme of "Leap Technology, Enjoy Life", the Dongfeng Motor Corporation's booth was divided into two areas: finished vehicles and the technology and service ecosystems, where Dongfeng’s latest technological achievements and 11 new models in the fields of electrification and intelligentization were exhibited. It celebrated the world premiere of the high-end electric off-road vehicle "Mengshi 917" and launched the luxury EV sedan "Voyah Zhuiguang". From Dongfeng Aeolus, a new EV brand "eπ" and the "eQi" plan were announced, initiating its full-scale shift to electrification.
The BAIC Group exhibited models of its five major brands: ARCFOX, BAIC, BAIC Foton, Beijing Benz, and Beijing Hyundai. ARCFOX, an electric vehicle brand under BAIC BluePark New Energy Technology, exhibited for the first time the “Kaola”, the world's first smart car developed as a “smart parent-child car for middle-class parents with infants.” The "αS" Forest Edition and "αT" Forest Edition were also displayed for the first time. The BAIC brand unveiled the "Joy" concept car, the all-new X7 was unveiled for the first time, and a custom model of the BJ60, the Niying version, was launched. BAIC Foton has unveiled the world premiere of its new next-generation full-size hardcore "Mars" luxury pickup truck and has begun taking reservations.
