The 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2023 motor show) was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai from April 18 to 27, 2023. April 18-19 were press days, April 20-21 for the industry, and April 22-27 for the public. This was the first major motor show since the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic were fully lifted, and a total of more than 1,000 companies exhibited. With 13 indoor exhibition halls, the total exhibition space was over 360,000 square meters. The vehicle display area featured 1,200 models, of which 271 were new energy vehicle ("NEV") models and 186 were NEV models from Chinese automakers.

The entire SAIC Group exhibited at this year's motor show, almost completely monopolizing Hall 3, displaying more than 130 new vehicles from six companies: IM Motors, Rising Auto, SAIC Passenger Vehicle, SAIC Maxus, SAIC VW, and SAIC-GM. Nearly half of these were NEVs. The total exhibition area exceeded 20,000 square meters.

The Chery Group announced a number of NEVs under four brands: Chery, Jetour, Exeed, and iCAR. The Exeed luxury brand unveiled its Sterra product series. Chery plans to export 500,000 units by 2025, and also exhibited its Omoda and Jaecoo brands to accelerate its globalization.
