Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year's iteration of the annual WCX conference was hosted online as the WCX 2021 World Congress Experience Digital Summit from April 13 through April 15, 2021 instead of being held as a physical event. The 2021 WCX Digital Summit included an online exhibition hall, over 70 hours of live technical sessions across six technology tracks, on-demand access to recorded technical presentations, and a series of Leadership Summit roundtable discussions.

Multiple Leadership Summit sessions discussed the current standing of connected and autonomous technologies and the challenges facing further development. One session highlighted the progression and development of SAE Level 3 and 4 autonomous systems. Another panel debated the implementation and role of connectivity in the vehicle. A panel session showed the benefits of partnerships between the public and private sectors in developing smart cities and mobility. Leading executives from major OEMs were part of a roundtable discussing automotive trends, including autonomy and connectivity.

This report is the second of two reports which focuses on content shown at WCX 2021. This report will highlight the development of connectivity and autonomy in the automotive industry, showcasing the sessions discussing those themes. A report focusing on electric vehicle considerations was previously released.
