The WCX 2021 World Congress Experience Digital Summit was an online conference held from April 13 through April 15, 2021 in place of the yearly event traditionally hosted in Detroit, Michigan, U.S., due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 2021 WCX Digital Summit featured a digital exhibit hall, more than 70 hours of live technical sessions, on-demand presentations, and nine roundtable discussions featuring executives and experts from a variety of companies and organizations.

Various sessions highlighted the impact of electric vehicles to the industry and society. One technical session analyzed the role and importance of the hybrid vehicle as battery electric vehicles become more popular. One panel focused on the impact and environment of electric vehicles from differing commercial perspectives. Another panel included a number of executives from leading OEMs discussing the effects and drivers of new innovations, including electrification, at their companies. SAE International also featured a recorded session with Sean Gouda, a Business Development Manager for Electrification at DTE Energy, discussing infrastructure concerns related to electric vehicle growth.

This report is the first of two reports which focuses on content shown at WCX 2021. This report will focus on electric and alternative powertrains, highlighting the sessions centering on those topics.
