Initiatives to Streamline Development for Actual Deployment of AD/ADAS
From the 2025 JSAE Exposition in Yokohama
Summary
The adoption of domain ECUs (electronic control units) by European OEMs is expected to accelerate ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) deployment beyond Level 2+. Demonstration tests of Level 4 AD (Autonomous Driving) are currently underway for commercial vehicles, but the challenge is to accumulate mileage to achieve a successful track record.
At the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2025 sponsored by the Japan Society of Automotive Engineers, Inc. (JSAE), held at the Pacifico Yokohama convention and exhibition center on May 21-23, 2025, there were many exhibits related to ADAS domain ECUs with an eye toward L2+ and efforts to streamline the development of autonomous driving systems and software.
Isuzu Motors Limited (Isuzu) and Hino Motors, Ltd. (Hino) exhibited demonstration testing on heavy-duty commercial vehicles and introduced examples of their activities for implementation and deployment based on needs.
