Indian passenger vehicle sales increase by 8.9% in March 2024
Indian passenger vehicle sales in March 2024 were up 8.9% y/y to 317,976 units.
Based on the release of carmakers in March, the available sales results of PVs are as follows:
Maruti-Suzuki sales of 156,330 units increased 14.3% in March compared to the same month in 2023. Tata sales of 90,822 units increased 1.6% from last year. Mahindra sales of 58,244 units increased 2.5% from last year. Hyundai sales of 53,001 units increased 4.7% from last year. Toyota sales of 25,119 units increased 34.5% in March compared to the same month in 2023. Honda sales of 7,071 units increased 5.7% from the same month last year. Kia sales of 21,400 units decreased 0.5% from last year.
Vehicle sales from January to March 2024 were up 8.2% y/y to 1,403,872 units.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 11.5% to 1,135,501 units (excludes BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo Cars). CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were down 3.9% to 268,371 units (excludes Daimler and Scania).

Indian passenger vehicle sales in February 2024 were up 9.5% y/y to 319,519 units.
Based on the release of carmakers in February, the available sales results of PVs are as follows:
Maruti-Suzuki sales of 163,397 units increased 8.3% in February compared to the same month in 2023. Tata sales of 84,834 units increased 8.8% from last year. Mahindra sales of 62,326 units increased 24.4% from last year. Hyundai sales of 50,201 units increased 6.8% from last year. Toyota sales of 25,220 units increased 60.8% in February compared to the same month in 2023. Honda sales of 7,142 units increased 17.4% from the same month last year. Kia sales of 20,200 units decreased 17.9% from last year.

Indian passenger vehicle sales in January 2024 (excluding BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo Cars, and Tata) were up 13.9% y/y to 339,441 units.
Based on the release of carmakers in January, the available sales results of PVs and CVs are as follows:
Maruti-Suzuki sales of 170,214 units increased 12.5% in January compared to the same month in 2023.
Tata sales of 84,276 units increased 5.8% from last year.
Mahindra sales of 64,223 units increased 19.3% from last year.
Hyundai sales of 57,115 units increased 14.0% in January compared to the same month in 2023.
Toyota sales of 24,609 units increased 91.7% in January compared to the same month in 2023.
Honda sales of 8,681 units increased 11.0% from the same month last year.
Kia sales of 23,769 units decreased 17.0% from last year.
