Indian passenger vehicle sales decrease by 0.4% in September 2024
Indian passenger vehicle sales in September 2024 were down 0.4% y/y to 315,689 units.
Based on the release of car makers in September, the available sales results are as follows:
Maruti Suzuki sales of 148,061 units decreased 3.3% in September compared to the same month in 2023. Tata sales of 69,694 units decreased 15.0% from last year. Mahindra sales of 71,494 units increased 14.1% from last year. Hyundai sales of 51,101 units decreased 5.8% from last year. Toyota sales of 23,802 units increased 7.4% in September compared to the same month in 2023. Honda sales of 5,675 units decreased 42.5% from the same month last year. Kia sales of 23,523 units increased 17.5% from last year.
Vehicle sales from January to September 2024 were down 3.5% y/y to 1,275,932 units.

Indian passenger vehicle sales in August 2024 were down 1.6% y/y to 308,779 units.
Based on the release of car makers in August, the available sales results are as follows:
Maruti Suzuki sales of 145,570 units decreased 8.3% in August compared to the same month in 2023. Tata sales of 70,006 units decreased 8.2% from last year. Mahindra sales of 60,895 units increased 3.3%% from last year. Hyundai sales of 49,525 units decreased 8.0% from last year. Toyota sales of 28,589 units increased 36.3% in August compared to the same month in 2023. Honda sales of 5,326 units decreased 32.4% from the same month last year. Kia sales of 22,523 units increased 17.2% from last year.

Mahindra sales of 58,200 units increased 5.2% from last year. Hyundai sales of 49,013 units decreased 3.3% from last year. Indian passenger vehicle sales increase by 4.9% in June 2024
Indian passenger vehicle sales in June 2024 were up 4.9% y/y to 294,233 units.
Based on the release of carmakers in June, the available sales results of PVs are as follows:
Maruti-Suzuki sales of 139,918 units increased 2.9% in June compared to the same month in 2023. Tata sales of 74,147 units decreased 7.8% from last year. Mahindra sales of 57,342 units increased 10.9% from last year. Hyundai sales of 50,103 units increased 0.2% from last year. Toyota sales of 25,752 units increased 41.2% in June compared to the same month in 2023. Honda sales of 4,804 units decreased 5.4% from the same month last year. Kia sales of 21,300 units increased 9.8% from last year.
Vehicle sales from April to June 2024 were up 3.1% y/y to 1,250,215 units.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 3.0% to 1,026,006 units (excludes BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo Cars). CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 3.3% to 224,209 units (excludes Daimler and Scania).

Maruti-Suzuki sales of 156,330 units increased 14.3% in March compared to the same month in 2023. Tata sales of 90,822 units increased 1.6% from last year. Mahindra sales of 58,244 units increased 2.5% from last year. Hyundai sales of 53,001 units increased 4.7% from last year. Toyota sales of 25,119 units increased 34.5% in March compared to the same month in 2023. Honda sales of 7,071 units increased 5.7% from the same month last year. Kia sales of 21,400 units decreased 0.5% from last year.
Vehicle sales from January to March 2024 were up 8.2% y/y to 1,403,872 units.
