Software Series 10: Impact of SDV on Component Suppliers (1)
Impact of centralized architecture
2024/01/05
- Summary
- Distributed architecture reaching its limits
- Inevitability of shifting to a centralized architecture
- Enabling software distribution
Summary
In SDVs (Software Defined Vehicles), the E/E (Electrical/Electronic) architecture of the vehicle is changed from the previous distributed architecture to a centralized architecture. As explained in this series so far, SDVs have the characteristic of being able to be kept up-to-date through software updates and the addition of new software. Adopting a centralized architecture is essential to achieving this. The adoption of a centralized architecture will also give birth to a new business: an "app store" for in-vehicle software. In addition, the adoption of a centralized architecture will also have a significant impact on the way component suppliers work.
