German car sales rise 3.9% in October

On November 2, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 272,855 new passenger car registrations in October, an 3.9% increase from the same month last year.
Year-to-date registrations of 2,884,676 vehicles in the first ten months of the year represented an increase of 2.3% from the same period in 2016.
Volkswagen brand sales of 50,331 units (18.4% market share) increased 1.8% in October compared to the same month in 2016.
Mercedes sales of 26,625 units (9.8% share) increased 6.9% from last year.
Audi sales of 21,651 units (7.9% share) decreased 7.0% in October.
Ford sales of 21,277 units (7.8% share) increased 12.8% from last year.
Opel sales of 19,347 units (7.1% share) decreased 1.2% from the same month last year.
BMW sales of 18,734 units (6.9% share) decreased 9.1% in October.
Sales of 27,274 trucks in October represented a increase of 17.2% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 349 buses represented an decrease of 35.4%.
In October, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 60.9% market share, diesel vehicles had a 34.9% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 315,000 units had decreased 11% and domestic production of 414,100 units had decreased 11% from last October.
