The 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Shanghai Motor Show 2023 / Auto Shanghai 2023) was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from April 18 to 27, 2023. April 18-19 were press days, April 20-21 industry trade days, and April 22-27 for the general public. This was the first major motor show held in China since the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic were completely lifted, and a total of more than 1,000 companies exhibited. With 13 indoor exhibition halls, the total exhibition space was over 360,000 square meters. The vehicle exhibition area featured 1,200 models, of which 271 were New Energy Vehicle (NEV) models and 186 were NEV models from Chinese automakers.

Changan Automobile announced its overseas strategy and model lineup. Production and sales volumes of the Changan brand in 2022 rose above 1,875,000 units, and sales in 2023 are expected to exceed 2 million units, with a sales target of 2.8 million units for 2025. The company will focus on three brands, Changan Automobile, Deepal Auto, and Avatr, which constitute mutually supporting brands. Changan Automobile exhibited the Deepal S7 SUV, the Deepal SL03 sedan, the iDD family, the Lumin micro EV, and other NEVs, as well as the VIIA concept car and SDA architecture.

The GAC Group showcased its strong electrification lineup under the flag of its own brands Trumpchi and Aion. The company announced its "NEXT" plan that builds on GAC Aion's cutting-edge EV advantage to realize GAC Trumpchi's conversion to PHEVs (plug-in hybrids), REVs (range-extender vehicles), and HEVs (hybrid vehicles). At this year's motor show, Trumpchi presented its first PHEV model, the Trumpchi E9, while Aion focused on the exhibit of its Hyper GT and the circuit version Hyper SSR. On the technology front, the company showcased the GAC Magazine Battery 2.0, the new high-end EV-dedicated platform AEP 3.0, and more.

The JAC Group focused on its second-generation global EV platform, the DI Platform, and the first model based on this platform, the Yiwei 3; its first PHEV model, the QX PHEV; a concept car with a dedicated MPV architecture, the RF-M; and the Hantu, an intelligent passenger heavy-duty pickup truck. Within the next year, the company will rapidly roll out PHEV products, especially compact SUVs, mid- and large-size SUVs, and compact sedans, to continuously meet diversifying customer needs.
