QNX overview
QNX is a division of BlackBerry Ltd. It was originally founded as a Canadian company called QNX Software Systems Ltd. in 1980 and was acquired by BlackBerry in 2010. Formerly known as the “BlackBerry IoT” division, the division was renamed as “QNX” and the QNX brand was relaunched at CES 2025 in January to improve recognition and reinforce its leadership within the automotive and general embedded industries.
QNX provides safe and secure operating systems (OS), hypervisors, middleware, and development tools for software-defined businesses across various sectors, including the automotive and commercial vehicle markets. Its software is embedded in more than 255 million vehicles globally and leveraged by the top 10 automotive OEMs, the top 7 Tier 1 suppliers, and 24 of the top 25 EV OEMs.
