In 2024, Stellantis N.V. began introducing the next generation models utilizing its multi-energy STLA platform. The STLA platform is compatible with various powertrains, including battery electric vehicles (BEVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. In addition, affordable multi-energy vehicles based on the Smart Car platform are being introduced globally.

Stellantis is developing a growth strategy for the aggregation of the South America, the Middle East and Africa, and China, India, and the Asia-Pacific segments, which it calls its “Third Engine” (for presentation purposes only) after Europe and the United States. The company plans to invest a total of BRL 32 billion in South America between 2025 and 2030. New systems based on bio-hybrid engine technology, which combine electric and hybrid powertrains with biofuels, specifically ethanol, to reduce carbon emissions and advance accessible mobility, have been developed and Stellantis is revamping its production facilities.

In the Middle East and Africa, the company aims to introduce 25 new models by 2030 and produce 1 million vehicles by the same year. In Africa, the company plans to make Algeria a strategic hub. In addition, local production resumed in Egypt. In South Africa, the company plans to begin local production at a new plant by the end of 2025.

In North America in 2024, Stellantis had the largest market share of the US PHV market. In addition, the Ram brand inaugurated its commercial vehicle unit, Ram Professional. The company will operate in North America as the main brand of Pro One, the global commercial vehicle business unit. In 2025, Stellantis plans to launch 10 models in North America, including the Dodge Charger Daytona, Jeep Wagoneer S, Jeep Cherokee, and the successor to the Jeep Recon.

In Europe, the commercial vehicle business unit Pro One established a global commercial vehicle base in Turin, Italy. More than 80 specialists will be brought together to consolidate the functions of the commercial vehicle division. In Europe, a number of HVs equipped with eDCT (electric dual clutch transmission) technology were launched in 2024. Six more models will be introduced by 2026.

Consolidated shipments in 2024 (not including joint venture sales) were down 12.2% from the previous year to 5.415 million units. Lower production levels due to inventory reduction measures and the delayed launch of new models affected the production gap following the discontinuation of current models.

Sales in 2024 fell by 17.2% year-over-year (y/y) to EUR 156.9 billion. The impact is likely due to increased incentives, lower sales volume, a worsening product mix, and foreign exchange losses. Adjusted operating income fell 64.5% to EUR 8.6 billion. Carlos Tavares resigned as CEO in December 2024 due to declining earnings. The process of appointing a new CEO is expected to be completed during the first half of 2025.

This is Part 2 of the Stellantis report and it summarizes major developments including global sales and financial results as well as sales trends and recent activities by region. In addition, GlobalData's sales forecast will be posted in conjunction with this report.
