Invest in Austria updates hydrogen hybrid car development

Invest in Austria announced that the first Austrian hydrogen fuel cell battery hybrid vehicle was recently presented in Graz. Together with partners such as the Graz University of Technology and Magna, the drive system developer AVL created a visionary hydrogen hybrid vehicle fusing the strengths of hydrogen and battery technology. The technology should be ready for series production in three to four years. The project has demonstrated that, on balance, this type of drive system can be operated at lower costs when compared only to battery-powered vehicles. Moreover, the system offers shorter refueling times and a longer range. The project vehicle specifies a range of more than 500 km, with a hydrogen refueling time of three minutes.
