Business Overview

-The Company is a division of the Sapura Group that manufactures suspension, engine, transmission, and brake components. It also produces vehicle chassis modules and assemblies and high-grade structured steel bars.

-The Company’s manufacturing operations are divided into three business units based on their core areas:

  • Precision Machining: Machines engine, transmission and brake components; the business unit contributed 60% of the Company’s revenue in the fiscal year ended January 31, 2022.
  • Chassis & Modular Assembly: Assembles chassis components; the business unit contributed 18% of the Company’s revenue in the fiscal year ended January 31, 2022.
  • Hot & Cold Forming: Manufactures suspension components; the business unit contributed 22% of the Company’s revenue in the fiscal year ended January 31, 2022.


-As of January 31, 2022, the Company holds a 70% market share in Malaysia for coil springs.

History

Early 1980s The Company was established as a manufacturer of automobile suspension parts.
1991 Pioneer into high precision machining of automotive engine and transmission components with the formation of Sapura Machining Corporation Sdn. Bhd.
1994 Established a holding company, named Sapura Motors Berhad.
1995 Invested in cold-drawn steel rod manufacturing with the formation of Asian Automotive Steels Sdn. Bhd.
1996 Established Sapura Technical Centre Sdn. Bhd. as research, design and development facility.
May 1997 Listed on the Second Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.
2000 Launched supplying brake calipers to Perodua.
2002 Established Sapura Brake Technologies Sdn. Bhd. with additional product mix-chassis, brake system.
2004 Established a factory at Gurun, Kedah.
Jan. 2004 Transferred to the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia.
Aug. 2004 Changed company name to "Sapura Industrial Berhad".
2005 Supplied to Proton and Naza Manufacturing on chassis module.
2006 Launched supplying of chassis product to Inokom.
Product development for GM Thailand and Ford Philippines.
2007 Awarded contract to supply to Think Norway, GM Brazil and GM India.
Launch of shock absorber RE market.
2008 Invested in CNC Bending Machine and oil pan machine line for Perodua.
2009 Launched supplying to GM Ecuador.
