The Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world's largest trade show for consumer electronics and digital technology, was held January 5-7, 2022 at the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center (LVCC) venue in Las Vegas, USA (the online venue started from January 3). Although some exhibitors decided to pull out of the show at the last minute due to the outbreak of the Omicron COVID variant , various presentations were made with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a major theme at the event. In the midst of this SDG trend, electrification has become the biggest theme in the automotive industry, and many electric vehicles (EVs) were announced at the CES. The event gave the impression that EVs fit quite nicely with CES, which is a show for electronic products, and no doubt going forward there is the feeling that the trend of "EV announcements at CES" will continue going forward.

From a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) perspective, there is actually not much that is newly required of HMIs due to the electrification of automobiles. At most, HMIs now provide detailed information on charging and discharging. However, automakers are striving to change the design of their HMIs along with the innovation of EVs to provide users with a new appeal. Therefore, this report covers mainly the subject of HMI for EVs presented at CES 2022 and presents considerations for the future trend of HMI for automobiles.
