BEVs increase in China and ASEAN, Japanese and European OEMs struggle

Summary

  According to MarkLines sales volume data (62 countries, representing about 97% of total global sales), global sales volume (passenger and commercial vehicles) in the first half of 2025 increased 2.3% year over year to 42.864 million units.

  By powertrain, BEVs are on the rise, with sales expanding especially in China and ASEAN countries.

  By OEM and model, sales of Chinese and U.S. OEMs show an increase. Japanese and European manufacturers are struggling across the board, with a few exceptions.
