Proterra wins electric bus contract to supply California Department of General Services
Proterra announced that it was selected by the California Department of General Services to supply its battery electric buses and charging systems for the state. Furthermore, its selection enables institutions outside California to leverage the contract to simplify the process of purchasing electric buses.
California has adopted a number of measures to support zero-emission transportation. In December 2018, the California Air Resources Board implemented a regulation requiring that the state’s public transit agency bus lineup consist entirely of zero-emission buses by 2040. The state has also made USD 450 million available to fund bus and rail investments from public agencies, while USD 130 million is available from the Volkswagen Mitigation Trust for zero-emission buses.
