Tan Chong Motor to invest new plant in Malaysia

On May 5, Tan Chong Motor announced that it will invest MYR 500 million to establish new plant in Bagan Datuk in Perak, Malaysia. Tan Chong Automotive and Commercial Vehicle Hub , spanning 138.7 hectares, is to create 4,000 jobs and operations are expected to begin in 2021.
Meanwhile, the project would start in May after some technical matters had been finalized. For Phase 1, the Group would invest MYR 100 million for the project, which will be utilized for land acquisition and construction of a bus and truck plant. Once completed, this new plant will cater to the production needs of the local and export markets.
At present, it exports buses to Singapore, Hong Kong and Myanmar, and plans to continue exploring the potential markets in the region, including Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Indonesia.
