Indonesian car sales up 69.2% in December, full year 2021 up 66.8% to 887,202
Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in December 2021 were 96,673 units, up 69.2% over the same month in 2020, which had been heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Total sales in 2021 totaled 887,202 units, a 66.8% increase from that of 2020. This result outnumbers the sales forecast by LMC Automotive (775,000 units) as of July and by Gaikindo (800,000 units) as of October 2021.
In 2021, Toyota sales increased 83.4% to 295,768 units (33.3% market share), Daihatsu sales increased 81.8% to 164,908 units (18.6% market share), Mitsubishi increased 85.8% to 107,605 units (12.1% market share), Suzuki increased 38.8% to 91,793 units (10.3% market share), and Honda increased 24.3% to 91,122 units (10.3% market share).
Gaikindo projected that car sales in 2022 can reach 900,000 units or 20% growth YoY.

Indonesian sales up 62.4% in November
Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in November 2021 were 87,435 units, up 62.4% compared to November 2020, which had been heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
2021 January - November sales were up 66.5% to 790,524 units.
By automaker sales in November, Toyota was up 117.8% y/y to 33,450 units and a 38.3% market share. Daihatsu was up 136.9% to 16,045 units and a 18.4% market share. Suzuki was up 3.6% to 8,512 units and a 9.7% market share. Honda was down 14.8% to 7,201 units and a 8.2% market share. Mitsubishi was down 1.1% to 6,620 units and a 7.6% market share.

Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in October 2021 were 75,544 units, up 54.1% compared to October 2020, which had been heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
2021 January - October sales were up 67.0% to 703,089 units.
By automaker sales in October, Toyota was up 32.9% y/y to 21,730 units and a 28.8% market share. Daihatsu was up 105.3% to 17,020 units and a 22.5% market share. Mitsubishi was up 73.0% to 9,196 units and a 12.2% market share. Suzuki was up 48.2% to 7,624 units and a 10.1% market share. Honda was down 24.2% to 5,861 units and a 7.8% market share.

2021 January - September sales were up 68.7% to 627,537 units.
By automaker sales in September, Toyota was up 158.9% y/y to 34,046 units and a 40.5% market share. Daihatsu was up 56.5% to 17,529 units and a 20.8% market share. Mitsubishi was up 94.6% to 8,233 units and a 9.8% market share. Suzuki was up 20.3% to 7,515 units and a 8.9% market share. Mitsubishi Fuso was up 65.3% to 3,967 units and a 4.7% market share.

By automaker sales in July, Toyota was up 201.3% y/y to 21,763 units and a 32.7% market share. Mitsubishi was up 206.6% to 10,927 units and a 16.4% market share. Daihatsu was up 497.8% to 9,284 units and a 13.9% market share. Honda was up 347.9% to 9,030 units and a 13.6% market share. Suzuki was down 1.5% to 6,274 units and a 9.4% market share.

Indonesian sales up 1,443.6% in May
Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in May 2021 were 54,815 units, up 1,443.6% compared to May 2020, which had been heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
January - May sales were up 29.2% to 320,749 units.
By automaker sales in May, Toyota was up 2,514.4% y/y to 18,170 units and a 33.1% market share. Mitsubishi was up 974.8% to 8,437 units and a 15.4% market share. Daihatsu was 8,310 units and a 15.2% market share. Honda was up 5,674.3% to 5,832 units and a 10.6% market share. Suzuki was up 585.6% to 5,341 units and a 9.7% market share.

Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in April 2021 were 78,908 units, up 902.5% year over year.
Indonesia government has provided tax relief on luxury goods (PPnBM) starting in early March 2021. The provision of PPnBM incentives was part of efforts to restore the national economy during the coronavirus pandemic.
January - April sales were up 8.7% to 265,934 units.
By automaker sales in April, Toyota up 1,033.3% y/y to 23,301 units and a 29.5% market share. Daihatsu was up 1,092.6% to 15,861 units and a 20.1% market share. Mitsubishi was up 1,255.6% to 10,953 units and a 13.9% market share. Honda was up 616.3% to 8,474 units and a 10.7% market share. Suzuki up 677.4% to 8,100 units and a 10.3% market share.
