Indonesian car sales up 9.0% in December, full year 2022 up 18.1% to 1,048,040
Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (GAIKINDO) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in December 2022 were 105,354 units, up 9.0% over the same month in 2022.
Total sales in 2022 totaled 1,048,040 units, an 18.1% increase from that of 2022.
This result outnumbers the sales forecast by GAIKINDO (960,000 units) as of October 2022.
In 2022, Toyota sales increased 12.1% to 331,410 units (31.6% market share), Daihatsu sales increased 22.9% to 202,665 units (19.3% market share), Honda increased 44.1% to 131,280 units (12.5% market share), Mitsubishi decreased 7.9% to 99,051 units (9.5% market share), and Suzuki decreased 1.5% to 90,408 units (8.6% market share).
Chairman of GAIKINDO Jongkie Sugiarto said that national car sales this year remains at the level of 975,000 units regardless of the performance achievements of the automotive industry last year.

Indonesian sales up 4.2% in November
The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in November 2022 were 91,086 units, up 4.2% compared to November 2021.
2022 January - November sales were up 19.2% to 942,499 units.
By automaker sales in November, Toyota was down 20.9% y/y to 26,462 units and a 29.1% market share. Daihatsu was up 30.7% to 20,963 units and a 23.0% market share. Honda was up 62.4% to 11,691 units and a 12.8% market share. Suzuki was down 4.1% to 8,160 units and an 9.0% market share. Mitsubishi was up 6.6% to 7,056 units and an 7.7% market share.
GAIKINDO raised the 2022 annual sales target to 960,000 units at the end of October and is optimistic that domestic car sales will be able to reach the target. The satisfactory achievement of national car sales so far shows that the automotive industry has recovered after the coronavirus pandemic.
The association aims to achieve car sales of up to 975,000 units in 2023, or close to the total market in 2019 alias before the coronavirus pandemic which reached 1.2 million units.

Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in October 2022 were 93,197 units, up 23.3% compared to October 2021.
2022 January - October sales were up 21.1% to 851,413 units.
By automaker sales in October, Toyota was up 55.3% y/y to 33,740 units and a 36.2% market share. Daihatsu was up 2.8% to 17,489 units and a 18.8% market share. Honda was up 70.0% to 9,962 units and a 10.7% market share. Suzuki was up 0.5% to 7,663 units and an 8.2% market share. Mitsubishi was down 33.6% to 6,108 units and an 6.6% market share.
GAIKINDO raised the annual sales target to 960,000 units at the end of October.

Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in September 2022 were 99,986 units, up 18.9% compared to September 2021.
2022 January - September sales were up 20.8% to 758,216 units.
By automaker sales in September, Toyota was down 1.8% y/y to 33,449 units and a 33.5% market share. Daihatsu was up 7.1% to 18,781 units and a 18.8% market share. Honda was up 287.3% to 13,374 units and a 13.4% market share. Suzuki was up 1.8% to 7,651 units and an 7.7% market share. Mitsubishi was down 26.4% to 6,056 units and an 6.1% market share.

By automaker sales in August, Toyota was up 3.2% y/y to 30,844 units and a 31.8% market share. Daihatsu was up 6.5% to 15,339 units and a 15.8% market share. Honda was up 55.7% to 11,427 units and a 11.8% market share. Mitsubishi was down 7.0% to 9,700 units and an 10.0% market share. Suzuki was down 19.5% to 8,064 units and an 8.3% market share.

2022 January - July sales were up 22.0% to 561,287 units.
By automaker sales in July, Toyota was up 34.8% y/y to 29,326 units and a 34.0% market share. Daihatsu was up 71.6% to 15,935 units and a 18.5% market share. Honda was up 6.3% to 9,599 units and a 11.1% market share. Mitsubishi was down 26.6% to 8,023 units and an 9.3% market share. Suzuki was up 19.0% to 7,467 units and a 8.7% market share.

Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in June 2022 were 79,168 units, up 8.9% compared to June 2021.
2022 January - June sales were up 20.8% to 475,321 units.
By automaker sales in June, Toyota was up 17.3% y/y to 27,290 units and a 34.5% market share. Daihatsu was up 9.3% to 16,925 units and a 21.4% market share. Honda was up 3.1% to 9,057 units and a 11.4% market share. Suzuki was down 19.5% to 7,215 units and an 9.1% market share. Mitsubishi was down 30.8% to 4,700 units and a 5.9% market share.
In 2022, Gaikindo targets the cars sold to reach 900 thousand units.
According to Samuel Sekuritas analyst Pebe Peresia, until the end of the year, automotive performance can still improve.

Indonesian sales down 9.8% in May
Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in May 2022 were 49,453 units, down 9.8% compared to May 2021.
2022 January - May sales were up 23.5% to 396,153 units.
By automaker sales in May, Toyota was down 26.8% y/y to 13,296 units and a 26.9% market share. Honda was up 39.1% to 8,114 units and a 16.4% market share. Daihatsu was down 16.0% to 6,981 units and a 14.1% market share. Suzuki was up 12.8% to 6,026 units and an 12.2% market share. Mitsubishi was down 35.8% to 5,414 units and a 10.9% market share.

Indonesian sales up 5.0% in April
Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in April 2022 were 82,877 units, up 5.0% compared to April 2021, down 15.9% compared to the previous month.
2022 January - April sales were up 30.4% to 346,849 units.
By automaker sales in April, Toyota was up 19.2% y/y to 27,779 units and a 33.5% market share. Daihatsu was down 1.5% to 15,617 units and a 18.8% market share. Honda was up 19.8% to 10,149 units and a 12.2% market share. Mitsubishi was down 31.3% to 7,528 units and a 9.1% market share. Suzuki was down 28.4% to 5,801 units and an 7.0% market share.
eeing the decline in sales that occurred, Gaikindo said there were several factors that made sales in April 2022 decline.
“Indeed, the relaxation of PPnBM ending in March is a factor. Meanwhile, April is already the fasting month. Besides that, there are also problems in the microchip supply chain,” said Jongkie Sugiarto Chairman I of Gaikindo.

Indonesian sales up 16.0% in March
Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in March 2022 were 98,536 units, up 16.0% compared to March 2021.
2022 January - March sales were up 41.1% to 263,822 units.
By automaker sales in March, Toyota was up 27.0% y/y to 33,344 units and a 33.8% market share. Daihatsu was up 4.1% to 17,465 units and a 17.7% market share. Honda was up 14.3% to 12,975 units and a 13.2% market share. Mitsubishi was up 13.8% to 11,501 units and a 11.7% market share. Suzuki was down 0.7% to 8,604 units and an 8.7% market share.
"The results of vehicle sales in March that had managed to reach more than 98 thousand units matched the achievement figures under normal conditions (before the pandemic), and this is the fruit of the support and direction given by the government," Gaikindo Chairman Yohannes Nangoi stated on Monday.
According to Nangoi, the increase in sales figures in the first quarter of 2022 was bolstered by the relaxation of luxury goods sales tax (PPnBM DTP) that he deemed had supported the Indonesian automotive industry.

Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in February 2022 were 81,228 units, up 65.1% compared to February 2021, which had been heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
2022 January - February sales were up 61.9% to 165,290 units.
By automaker sales in February, Toyota was up 64.2% y/y to 24,865 units and a 30.6% market share. Daihatsu was up 59.8% to 15,036 units and a 18.5% market share. Honda was up 67.5% to 11,407 units and a 14.0% market share. Mitsubishi was up 105.0% to 10,018 units and a 12.3% market share. Suzuki was up 46.7% to 6,750 units and an 8.3% market share.

Indonesian automobile manufacturers association (Gaikindo) and other sources reported that Indonesian vehicle sales in January 2022 were 84,062 units, up 58.9% compared to January 2021, which had been heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
By automaker sales in January, Toyota was up 42.7% y/y to 22,886 units and a 27.2% market share. Daihatsu was up 103.7% to 18,319 units and a 21.8% market share. Mitsubishi was up 79.4% to 12,135 units and a 14.4% market share. Honda was up 50.5% to 10,884 units and a 12.9% market share. Suzuki was up 9.6% to 7,017 units and an 8.3% market share.
Gaikindo projectes that car sales in 2022 can reach 900,000 units or 20% growth YoY.
