The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in September 2023 of 197,739 units represented an increase of 1.9% from September 2022.

In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible fuel vehicles were up 4.5% y/y to 156,962 units (83.7% share), diesel vehicles were down 17.0% to 17,067 units (9.1%), gasoline vehicles increased 33.4% to 4,975 units (2.7%), hybrid vehicles increased 33.2% to 6,634 units (3.5%) and electric vehicles increased 29.7% to 1,826 units (1.0%).
"Despite the drop in September, justified by the smaller number of working days, in general, the market showed a recovery in daily sales compared to September. However, the challenges of the automotive sector remain, with restricted credit and a decrease in power of purchasing by the population, still making it difficult for people to access new vehicles", explains Andreta Jr., president of Fenabrave.
