The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles was down 0.2% y/y to 167,375 units (86.6%), diesel vehicles were up 14.3% from a year ago with 18,488 units (9.6%), gasoline vehicles decreased 11.1% to 5,383 units (2.8%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 615.3% to 2,053 units (1.1%).
According to the president of Fenabrave, Alarico Assumpcao Junior, although the performance of the two months has shown a small retraction in sales, the association maintains its optimistic expectations for the year.
"The first two months are affected by the impact of the school vacation period and the payment commitments accumulated at the beginning of the year, such as IPTU, expenses with school supplies, in addition to the reflection of the pause for Carnival", says Alarico.
"Therefore, we consider the performance of the first two months to be normal and unsurprising in relation to our projections, which are maintained at an overall growth of around 10% for 2020.”
