Brazilian vehicle sales down 7.1% in December, down 26.2% in 2020 (ANFAVEA)
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in December decreased 7.1% year-over-year (y/y) to 243,967 units while full-year sales of 2,058,437 vehicles in 2020 were down 26.2% from 2019’s accumulated total.
For all of 2020, passenger car sales decreased 28.6% to 1,615,942 units, light commercial vehicles were down 16.0% to 338,886 unites, trucks down 11.5% to 89,678 and buses were down 33.4% to 13,931 unites.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, General Motors sold 305,285 units (18.9% share), VW sold 286,114 units (17.7%), FCA sold 276,165 units (17.1%). Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 155,960 units (46.0%), VW sold 41,596 units (12.3%), GM sold 33,320 units (9.8%).
The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the year. The Chevrolet Onix was the best-selling passenger vehicle in full-year 2020 with 135,351 sales, followed by Hyundai HB20 with 86,548 sales, the Chevrolet Onix Plus with 83,392 sales, VW Gol with 71,151 sales, Ford Ka with 67,491 sales, and Fiat Argo with 65,937 sales.
The Fiat Strada was the best-selling LCV in 2020 with 80,041 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 53,974 sales, Toyota Hilux with 32,394 sales, VW Saveiro with 30,965 sales, and Chevrolet S10 with 26,639 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type in 2020, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles was down 28.5% y/y to 1,664,999 units (85.2% share), diesel vehicles were down 15.9% from a year ago with 211,154 units (10.8%), gasoline vehicles decreased 20.2% to 58,930 units (3.0%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 66.5% to 19,745 units (1.0%).

Brazilian vehicle sales down 7.1% to 225,010 units in November (ANFAVEA)
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in November decreased 7.1% year-over-year (y/y) to 225,010 units.
Vehicle sales in November consisted of 177,577 passenger cars; 36,909 light commercial vehicles; 9,143 trucks; and 1,381 buses.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, GM sold 35,129 units (19.8% share), FCA sold 33,179 units (18.7%), VW sold 31,022 units (17.5%), Hyundai sold 17,388 units (9.8%), and Ford sold 12,587 units (7.1%).
Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 18,981 vehicles (51.4% share), GM sold 4,093 vehicles (11.1%), VW sold 3,322 vehicles (9.0%), Toyota sold 3,050 units (8.3%), and Ford sold 2,323 units (6.3%).

The Chevrolet Onix was the best-selling passenger vehicle in November with 14,292 sales, followed by the Chevrolet Onix Plus sedan with 12,135 sales, Hyundai HB20 with 9,465 sales, Fiat Argo with 8,455 sales, VW Gol with 8,400 sales, Ford Ka with 7,526 sales, and Jeep Renegade with 6,543 sales.
The Fiat Strada was the best-selling LCV in November with 9,614 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 6,611 sales, Chevrolet S10 with 3,675 sales, Toyota Hilux with 3,048 sales, VW Saveiro with 2,977 sales, and Fiat Fiorino with 2,588 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles were down 9.0% y/y to 184,524 units (86.0% share), diesel vehicles were up 3.7% from a year ago with 21,968 units (10.2%), gasoline vehicles increased 0.9% to 5,763 units (2.7%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 10.8% to 2,231 units (1.0%).

Brazilian vehicle sales down 15.1% to 215,044 units in October (ANFAVEA)
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in October decreased 15.1% year-over-year (y/y) to 215,044 units.
Vehicle sales in October consisted of 168,508 passenger cars; 37,191 light commercial vehicles; 7,909 trucks; and 1,436 buses.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 31,488 units (18.7% share), VW sold 30,611 units (18.0%), GM sold 30,275 units (18.0%), Hyundai sold 16,587 units (9.8%), and Ford sold 12,615 units (7.5%).
Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 19,049 vehicles (51.2% share), GM sold 3,801 vehicles (10.2%), VW sold 3,677 vehicles (9.9%), Toyota sold 3,122 units (8.4%), and Ford sold 1,702 units (4.6%).
The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The Chevrolet Onix was the best-selling passenger vehicle in October with 12,203 sales, followed by Hyundai HB20 with 8,903 sales, Chevrolet Onix Plus sedan with 8,619 sales, VW Gol with 8,473 sales, Fiat Argo with 7,566 sales, Ford Ka with 7,492 sales, and Chevrolet Tracker with 6,595 sales.
The Fiat Strada was the best-selling LCV in October with 10,068 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 5,949 sales, Chevrolet S10 with 3,401 sales, Toyota Hilux with 3,120 sales, VW Saveiro with 3,117 sales, and Fiat Fiorino with 2,635 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles were down 16.5% y/y to 175,742 units (85.4% share), diesel vehicles were down 5.2% from a year ago with 21,775 units (10.6%), gasoline vehicles decreased 7.4% to 5,909 units (2.9%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 14.3% to 2,273 units (1.1%).

Brazilian vehicle sales down 11.6% to 207,710 units in September (ANFAVEA)
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in September decreased 11.6% year-over-year (y/y) to 207,710 units.
Vehicle sales in September consisted of 161,114 passenger cars; 38,051 light commercial vehicles; 7,312 trucks; and 1,233 buses.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 31,075 units (19.3% share), VW sold 29,776 units (18.5%), GM sold 28,314 units (17.6%), and Hyundai sold 15,812 units (9.8%).
Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 19,839 vehicles (52.1% share), VW sold 3,890 vehicles (10.2%), Toyota sold 3,579 vehicles (9.4%), GM sold 3,469 vehicles (9.1%), and Ford sold 1,686 units (4.4%).

The Fiat Strada was the best-selling LCV in September with 11,873 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 5,580 sales, Toyota Hilux with 3,578 sales, Chevrolet S10 with 3,149 sales, VW Saveiro with 3,050 sales, and Fiat Fiorino with 2,093 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles were down 13.5% y/y to 168,352 units (84.5% share), diesel vehicles were up 3.4% from a year ago with 22,241 units (11.2%), gasoline vehicles decreased 1.1% to 6,459 units (3.2%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 67.2% to 2,113 units (1.1%).

Brazilian vehicle sales down 24.5% to 183,395 units in August (ANFAVEA)
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in August decreased 24.5% year-over-year (y/y) to 183,395 units.
Vehicle sales in August consisted of 142,057 passenger cars; 31,765 light commercial vehicles; 8,076 trucks; and 1,497 buses.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, VW sold 29,625 units (20.9% share), FCA sold 25,892 units (18.2%), GM sold 25,874 units (18.2%), and Hyundai sold 15,182 units (10.7%).
Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 15,952 vehicles (50.2% share), VW sold 4,143 vehicles (13.0%), GM sold 2,917 vehicles (9.2%), Toyota sold 2,691 vehicles (8.5%), and Ford sold 1,282 units (4.0%).
The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The Chevrolet Onix was the best-selling passenger vehicle in August with 10,609 sales, followed by the Hyundai HB20 with 8,489 sales, VW Gol with 7,912 sales, VW T-Cross with 6,455 sales, Fiat Argo with 6,040 sales, Chevrolet Onix Plus sedan with 5,974 sales, and Chevrolet Tracker with 5,899 sales.
The Fiat Strada was the best-selling LCV in August with 8,690 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 4,824 sales, VW Saveiro with 3,197 sales, Toyota Hilux with 2,690 sales, Fiat Fiorino with 2,099 sales, and Chevrolet S10 with 2,063 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles were down 26.5% y/y to 148,276 units (85.3% share), diesel vehicles were down 20.7% from a year ago with 17,721 units (10.2%), gasoline vehicles decreased 9.2% to 5,882 units (3.4%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 124.1% to 1,943 units (1.1%).

Brazilian vehicle sales down 28.4% to 174,487 units in July (ANFAVEA)
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in July decreased 28.4% year-over-year (y/y) to 174,487 units.
Vehicle sales in July consisted of 134,956 passenger cars; 28,468 light commercial vehicles; 9,540 trucks; and 1,523 buses.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, VW sold 27,405 units (20.3% share), General Motors sold 25,489 units (18.9%), FCA sold 21,792 units (16.1%), Hyundai sold 13,900 units (10.3%), and Renault sold 10,399 units (7.7%).
Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 12,601 vehicles (44.3% share), VW sold 3,637 vehicles (12.8%), GM sold 2,562 vehicles (9.0%), Toyota sold 2,329 vehicles (8.2%), and Ford sold 1,733 units (6.1%).

The Fiat Strada was the best-selling LCV in July with 6,564 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 4,258 sales, VW Saveiro with 2,828 sales, Toyota Hilux with 2,327 sales, Ford Ranger with 1,729 sales, and Chevrolet S10 with 1,568 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles were down 31.9% y/y to 138,040 units (84.5% share), diesel vehicles were down 23.1% from a year ago with 17,887 units (10.9%), gasoline vehicles decreased 2.2% to 5,829 units (3.6%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 73.8% to 1,668 units (1.0%).

Brazilian vehicle sales down 40.5% to 132,818 units in June (ANFAVEA)
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in June decreased 40.5% year-over-year (y/y) to 132,818 units.
Vehicle sales in June consisted of 102,404 passenger cars; 20,391 light commercial vehicles; 8,954 trucks; and 1,069 buses.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, VW sold 19,027 units (18.6%), General Motors sold 17,296 units (16.9% share), FCA sold 15,965 units (15.6%), Hyundai sold 10,666 units (10.4%), and Renault sold 9,245 units (9.0%).
Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 8,066 vehicles (39.6% share), GM sold 2,463 vehicles (12.1%), VW sold 2,456 vehicles (12.0%), Ford sold 1,737 vehicles (8.5%), and Toyota sold 1,714 units (8.4%).
The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The Chevrolet Onix was the best-selling passenger vehicle in June with 6,234 sales, followed by the Hyundai HB20 with 5,792 sales, VW T-Cross with 5,463 sales, Jeep Renegade with 4,092 sales, Chevrolet Tracker with 4,075 sales, VW Gol with 3,908 sales, and Renault Kwid with 3,547 sales.
The Fiat Strada was the best-selling LCV in June with 3,830 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 3,029 sales, Ford Ranger with 1,736 sales, Toyota Hilux with 1,712 sales, and VW Saveiro with 1,613 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles was down 45.2% y/y to 102,259 units (83.3% share), diesel vehicles were down 33.5% from a year ago with 13,813 units (11.2%), gasoline vehicles decreased 9.4% to 5,389 units (4.4%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 86.3% to 1,334 units (1.1%).

The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in May decreased 74.7% year-over-year (y/y) to 62,190 units.
Vehicle sales in May consisted of 44,137 passenger cars; 12,568 light commercial vehicles; 4,819 trucks; and 666 buses.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, General Motors sold 8,238 units (18.7% share), VW sold 7,290 units (16.5%), FCA sold 6,918 units (15.7%), Renault sold 4,222 units (9.6%) and Hyundai sold 4,165 units (9.4%).
Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 4,437 vehicles (35.3% share), GM sold 1,732 vehicles (13.8%), Toyota sold 1,445 units (11.5%), VW sold 1,402 vehicles (11.2%), and Ford sold 1,400 vehicles (11.1%).
The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The Chevrolet Onix was the best-selling passenger vehicle in May with 3,296 sales, followed by the Hyundai HB20 with 2,218 sales, Renault Kwid with 1,818 sales, Fiat Argo with 1,768 sales, Ford Ka with 1,719 sales, Chevrolet Onix Plus sedan with 1,681 sales, and VW Gol with 1,616 sales.
The Fiat Strada was the best-selling LCV in May with 1,983 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 1,662 sales, Toyota Hilux with 1,444 sales, Ford Ranger with 1,400 sales, and Chevrolet S10 with 1,267 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles was down 78.3% y/y to 44,734 units (78.9% share), diesel vehicles were down 58.3% from a year ago with 9,021 units (15.9%), gasoline vehicles decreased 62.1% to 2,349 units (4.1%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 68.3% to 601 units (1.1%).

Brazilian vehicle sales down 76.0% to 55,735 units in April (ANFAVEA)
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in April decreased 76.0% year-over-year (y/y) to 55,735 units.
Vehicle sales in April consisted of 39,501 passenger cars; 11,962 light commercial vehicles; 3,952 trucks; and 320 buses.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, General Motors sold 8,386 units (21.2% share), FCA sold 5,912 units (15.0%), VW sold 5,607units (14.2%), Hyundai sold 4,154 units (10.5%), Renault sold 3,831 units (9.7%).
Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 3,874 vehicles (32.4% share), Toyota sold 1,762 vehicles (14.7%), GM sold 1,622 units (13.6%), VW sold 1,605 vehicles (13.4%), and Ford sold 1,072 vehicles (9.0%).

The Chevrolet Onix was the best-selling passenger vehicle in April with 3,619 sales, followed by the Hyundai HB20 with 2,837 sales, Chevrolet Onix Plus sedan with 2,223 sales.
The Toyota Hilux was the best-selling LCV in April with 1,762 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 1,713 sales, Fiat Strada with 1,630 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles was down 78.8% y/y to 41,142 units (79.9% share), diesel vehicles were down 58.3% from a year ago with 8,587 units (16.7%), gasoline vehicles decreased 79.5% to 1,292 units (2.5%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 52.4% to 442 units (0.9%).

Brazilian vehicle sales down 21.8% to 163,625 units in March (ANFAVEA)
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in March decreased 21.8% year-over-year (y/y) to 163,625 units.
Vehicle sales in March consisted of 131,275 passenger cars; 25,029 light commercial vehicles; 6,438 trucks; and 883 buses.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, General Motors sold 23,123 units (17.6% share), FCA sold 21,153 units (16.1%), VW sold 21,143 units (16.1%), Ford sold 12,839 units (9.8%), Hyundai sold 12,303 units (9.4%), Renault sold 10,808 units (8.2%), and Toyota sold 8,915 units (6.8%).
Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 10,136 vehicles (40.5% share), VW sold 3,812 vehicles (15.2%), Toyota sold 2,971 units (11.9%), GM sold 2,378 vehicles (9.5%), Ford sold 1,561 vehicles (6.2%), and Mitsubishi sold 713 vehicles (2.8%).
The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The Chevrolet Onix was the best-selling passenger vehicle in March with 12,007 sales, followed by the Ford Ka with 7,103 sales, Hyundai HB20 with 7,042 sales, Chevrolet Onix Plus sedan with 6,670 sales, Fiat Argo with 6,071 sales, VW Gol with 5,681 sales, Jeep Renegade with 4,492 sales, and VW T Cross with 4,417 sales.
The Fiat Strada was the best-selling LCV in March with 4,799 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 3,598 sales, Toyota Hilux with 2,971 sales, VW Saveiro with 2,667 sales, and Chevrolet S10 with 1,582 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles was down 23.1% y/y to 135,044 units (86.4%), diesel vehicles were down 14.3% from a year ago with 15,685 units (10.0%), gasoline vehicles decreased 30.3% to 4,005 units (2.6%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 367.3% to 1,570 units (1.0%).
According to the president of Fenabrave, Alarico Assumpcao Junior, although the performance of the two months has shown a small retraction in sales, the association maintains its optimistic expectations for the year.

Brazilian vehicle sales up 1.2% to 200,997 units in February (ANFAVEA)
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in February increased 1.2% year-over-year (y/y) to 200,997 units.
Vehicle sales in February consisted of 165,150 passenger cars; 28,149 light commercial vehicles; 6,412 trucks; and 1,286 buses.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, General Motors sold 32,109 units (19.4% share), VW sold 26,511 units (16.1%), FCA sold 25,158 units (15.2%), Hyundai sold 15,520 units (9.4%) and Ford sold 13,759 units (8.3%).
Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 11,484 units (40.8%), VW sold 4,826 units (17.1%), Toyota sold 3,127 units (11.1%), GM sold 2,039 units (7.2%) and Ford sold 1,323 units (4.7%).

The Chevrolet Onix was the best-selling passenger vehicle in February with 17,652 sales, followed by the Chevrolet Onix Plus sedan with 9,123 sales, Hyundai HB20 with 8,402 sales, Ford Ka with 8,183 sales, VW Gol with 5,944 sales, Fiat Argo with 5,917 sales, and Renault Kwid with 5,813 sales.
The Fiat Strada was the best-selling LCV in February with 5,190 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 4,474 sales, VW Saveiro with 3,188 sales, Toyota Hilux with 3,125 sales, and Chevrolet S10 with 1,781 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles was down 0.2% y/y to 167,375 units (86.6%), diesel vehicles were up 14.3% from a year ago with 18,488 units (9.6%), gasoline vehicles decreased 11.1% to 5,383 units (2.8%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 615.3% to 2,053 units (1.1%).
According to the president of Fenabrave, Alarico Assumpcao Junior, although the performance of the two months has shown a small retraction in sales, the association maintains its optimistic expectations for the year.
"The first two months are affected by the impact of the school vacation period and the payment commitments accumulated at the beginning of the year, such as IPTU, expenses with school supplies, in addition to the reflection of the pause for Carnival", says Alarico.
"Therefore, we consider the performance of the first two months to be normal and unsurprising in relation to our projections, which are maintained at an overall growth of around 10% for 2020.”

Brazilian vehicle sales down 3.2% to 193,459 units in January (ANFAVEA)
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in January decreased 3.2% year-over-year (y/y) to 193,459 units.
Vehicle sales in January consisted of 154,581 passenger cars; 30,100 light commercial vehicles; 7,286 trucks; and 1,492 buses.
Among passenger vehicle manufacturers, General Motors sold 32,408 units (21.0% share), VW sold 24,639 units (15.9%), FCA sold 22,465 units (14.5%), Renault sold 13,630 units (8.8%) and Ford sold 12,794 units (8.3%).
Among light commercial vehicle manufacturers, FCA sold 12,115 units (40.2%), VW sold 4,608 units (15.3%), Toyota sold 3,311 units (11.0%), GM sold 2,675 units (8.9%) and Renault sold 1,800 units (6.0%).
The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The Chevrolet Onix was the best-selling passenger vehicle in January with 17,463 sales, followed by the Chevrolet Onix Plus sedan with 8,722 sales, Ford Ka with 7,334 sales, Renault Kwid with 6,739 sales, Hyundai HB20 with 6,555 sales, VW Gol with 6,030 sales, and VW Polo with 5,593 sales.
The Fiat Strada was the best-selling LCV in January with 5,419 sales, followed by the Fiat Toro with 5,300 sales, Toyota Hilux with 3,311 sales, VW Saveiro with 3,255 sales, and Chevrolet S10 with 2,403 sales.
In ANFAVEA's sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles was down 5.2% y/y to 158,721 units (85.9%), diesel vehicles were up 12.1% from a year ago with 19,763 units (10.7%), gasoline vehicles decreased 20.6% to 4,629 units (2.5%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 323.8% to 1,568 units (0.8%).
According to ANFAVEA, vehicle sales was also affected by holidays and the new slab system, mainly in Sao Paulo.
