Mitsubishi Motors: Strengthening HEVs in Thailand, Foxconn supplying BEVs

In May 2025, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced that Foxtron Vehicle Technologies Co., Ltd. (Foxtron), a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (Foxconn), has agreed to supply battery electric vehicles (BEVs) developed by Foxtron to MMC. The BEVs to be supplied on an OEM consignment production basis will be produced in Taiwan, with sales to the Oceania region scheduled to begin in the second half (H2) of 2026.
In its new mid-term plan "Challenge 2025," MMC clearly states that it will launch a total of 16 models (including 9 electrified vehicles) in the five years beginning 2023. The company has already launched the Minicab EV in 2023, the Xpander HEV in 2024, and the Xforce HEV in 2025. The latest model of the Outlander PHEV, a best-selling PHEV model, was launched in the Japanese market in October 2024, and is planned to be released in 20 European countries in stages from March 2025.
MMC is also actively promoting the introduction of BEVs, and has announced that it will launch the Eclipse Cross BEV model in Europe around the fall of 2025, as well as a new BEV based on the next-generation Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (Nissan) Leaf model in the second half of 2026.
