The event brings together executives and experts from OEMs, suppliers, engineering providers, research institutes and universities to jointly discuss future-oriented developments for sustainable mobility covering the aspects of efficiency, safety and environmental friendliness.

The lectures covered a wide range of fields, such as battery systems and thermal management, fuel cell and hydrogen technology, automated driving, vehicle dynamics, software defined vehicles, and mobility and sustainability concepts.

Prof.Dr. Rüdiger, rector of the RWTH Aachen University, welcomed the around 880 on-site participants to the 33rd Aachen Colloquium.

Under the motto " Knowledge, Impact, Networks ", he emphasized the importance of interdisciplinarity and networks to address scientific issues from the perspective of different disciplines in order to obtain holistic answers to questions about global mega trends or mega challenges.

Accordingly he mentioned the climate change and with it the goal of world-wide reduction of greenhouse gas emissions especially CO₂ as one of the biggest challenges we currently have to address for a sustainable future.

Professor Dr.-Ing. Stefan Pischinger, head of the Chair of Thermodynamics of Mobile Energy Conversion Systems (tme), and Professor Dr.-Ing. Lutz Eckstein, head of the Institute of Automotive Engineering (ika), both at RWTH Aachen University, represented again the two institutes that jointly organize the event each year. They gave a short introduction about the highlights which could be explored at the booths of fka and FEV.

At the fka booth visitors could interactively experience for example driver monitoring technology and the performance of LiDAR sensors under adverse conditions.

The FEV booth attracted attendees by presenting Toyota's Accessible People Mover (APM), which transported Olympic athletes and officials around the city of Paris just a few weeks ago as an example of a viable CO₂-neutral local transportation concept.

The two-day conference comprised a total of 100 technical lectures and four keynotes, which were held parallel in 30 sessions and five halls of the Eurogress conference center.

The four keynotes were held by Dr Sabine Klauke, CTO of Airbus, Dr Holger Klein, CEO of the ZF Group, Mr. Shunichi Inamijima, Cooperate Vice President Nissan, and finally Ms. Ruiping Wang, CEO of Aurobay, during the opening plenary session, reflecting the diversity of mobility and focusing on the topic of sustainability.

The full agenda of lectures can be viewed in the official program booklet.

The proceedings are filling two books and can be ordered - also for previous colloquia - through the Aachen Colloquium homepage.

During break time, participants had the opportunity to visit 28 booths (15 less than last year) at the accompanying trade exhibition suppliers, service and solution providers, research institutes and engineering consultancy companies showcased their latest products, technologies and concepts.

Next year the event will be held from October 6th to 8th, 2025. The "Call-for-Papers" will start on December 1st, 2024 and interested parties can submit their proposals by February 15th, 2025.
