IAA 2019 venue

  From September 12^th to September 22^nd in Frankfurt, the International Motor Show 2019, also called IAA 2019 (short for Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung) took place at the Messe area in Frankfurt. This year's Motor Show used "Driving tomorrow" as its slogan. The general public and traders had the opportunity to see innovations introduced by mobility service providers and high-tech companies.

  The most striking trend was the visibility given to electric and electrified vehicles. It was clear that many exhibitors decided to introduce and showcase models that adopt the carmakers' commitment to the Regulation (EU) 2019/631 passed by the European Parliament, requiring a reinforced engagement in the reduction of fossil fuels, and therefore CO₂ emissions, by 2020.

  This year's IAA had some notable nonappearances. Big Asian carmakers not exhibiting included Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, Subaru, Suzuki and Mitsubishi. Regarding the European and American carmakers, Fiat, Jeep, Volvo, Peugeot, Citroen, DS and Dacia were also notable absences. The total number of exhibitors also decreased, going from 994 in 2017 to 838 this year. A decrease in the number of visitors was also observed, from 810,400 in 2017, to roughly 560,000 in 2019.
