On January 22, Ji’nan opened the test grounds for the road testing of connected vehicles with a length of about 4.8 km. SINOTRUK participated in the road tests by testing its level-4 autonomous bus and HOWO-T5G unmanned electric truck.
The road marking work has been completed and construction of the 5G experiment station has also been completed, with 100% 5G signal coverage in the testing area.
Ji’nan is the seventh city to realize autonomous driving road tests and the first one to do so in the province.. It aims to form the top commercial vehicle industrial and testing base in China. It is China’s first city that achieves 5G road tests of commercial vehicles.

On September 18, the TRATON GROUP and the Chinese CNHTC Group announced that the companies will further expand their long-term partnership.
MAN and Sinotruk have been working together quite successfully since 2009 and have agreed to broaden this cooperation by establishing a joint venture to localize a MAN heavy-duty trucks in China and are evaluating and intensifying technology and procurement cooperation.
Since the beginning of the partnership, MAN has held a 25% stake plus one share in Sinotruk, one of the leading heavy-duty truck manufacturers in China.

On July 14 SINOTRUK   announced that it sold 177,025 vehicles in the first six months of 2018, a 17.66% y/y increase.
Sales of heavy-duty truck totaled 110,007 units, a 10.68% y/y increase.
Sales of medium-duty truck totaled 8,933 units, a y/y increase of 61.45%.
Sales of light truck increased 25.80% y/y to 57,178 units.
