Toyota to equip electric door mirrors on 30% of Lexus ES

Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) estimates that about 30% of the all-new Lexus ES sedans will be purchased with the digital outer mirrors (electric door mirrors) option; the new Lexus ES was released on October 24. Almost all Lexus distributors will have demo cars to increase sales opportunities for prospective buyers to try out the digital mirrors. It is unusual for Toyota to offer demo vehicles to demonstrate optional equipment. The carmaker will promote the world’s first digital side mirrors to increase sales. The Lexus ES is a flagship sedan in the U.S. and China and this 7th generation ES is the first time that the ES is being introduced to the Japanese market. Toyota has set the model’s monthly sales goal at 350 units, 70% of which are the high-grade Version L. Electric mirrors are an option on the Version L. Toyota expects to sell about 120 units of the Lexus ES Version L on a monthly basis. (From an article in the Nikkan Jidosha Shimbun on November 1, 2018)
