History

Nov, 1916 Transferred all business of Nippon Seiko & Co., Ltd. (established in 1914) and established Nippon Seiko Ltd. in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo with capital of 350 thousand yen.
Mar. 1934 Established steel ball plant in Ohta Ward, Tokyo. In March of the following year, built a ball bearing plant attached to the steel ball plant and named it Tamagawa Plant.
Nov. 1937 Established Fujisawa Plant in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture and transferred steel ball facilities there. Built an adjacent stamping plant.
Nov. 1953 Established Nishi Nippon Seiko Ltd. in Ohtsu City, Shiga Prefecture.
June 1960 Established Kita Nippon Seiko Ltd. in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture. Started operations as a specialized plant for automotive steering.
Jan. 1963 Established NSK Trinton Ltd. in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, jointly with England Trinton Ltd. and Tokyo Bearing Ltd.
Aug. 1964 Established NSK BorgWarner Inc. jointly with US BorgWarner Inc.
May 1966 Took over Nishi Nippon Seiko Ltd. and made it Ohtsu Plant.
Nov. 1967 Took over Kita Nippon Seiko Ltd. and made it Maebashi Plant.
Mar. 1969 Spun off Fujisawa Plant's steel ball plant, and established Shin Nippon Steel Ball Ltd., jointly with Tentsuji Steel Ball Seisaku-Sho Ltd.

Feb. 2000 In order to strengthen steering business, made Nastec Ltd. (USA) into a 100% subsidiary of NSK Americas Ltd. and Nastec Europe Ltd. (England) a 100% subsidiary of NSK-RHP Europe Ltd.
Feb. 2001 Incorporated NSK steering systems at Shinagawa, Tokyo to spin off electric power steering business into a separate company.
Apr. 2001 Received an award from the Machinery Society of Japan for a half-toroidal CVT used in automobiles.
July 2001 Spun off Fukushima plant into a separate company and incorporated NSK Fukushima at Shinagawa Tokyo.
Mar. 2002 Established NSK Bearing Manufacturing (Thailand) in Thailand.
Oct. 2002 Spun off the precision machinery business and established it as NSK Precision Co., Ltd in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo.
July 2003 Made NSK Torrington as its subsidiary and change the name to NSK Needle Bearing.
May 2004 Established Changshu NSK Needle Bearing Co. Ltd. in Changshu prov., China.
Mar. 2006 Acquired a 100% ownership in Amatsuji Steel Ball Mfg. Co., Ltd.
July 2007 Acquired a 100% ownership in Suzhou NSK Bearings Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of taper roller bearings.
Jan. 2008 Established an independent R&D company.
Jan. 2008 Established NSK Yagi Precision (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd. in Jiangsu, China, a forged parts manufacturer.
Feb. 2008 Started production at NSK-ABC Bearings Ltd. in India, an automotive bearing manufacturing company jointly established with ABC Bearings Limited, which is a partner company based in India.
Mar. 2008 Established NSK-Wanda Electric Power Assisted Steering Systems Co., Ltd., in Hangzhou in China.
May 2008 Started production of electric power steering at a plant of Rane NSK Steering Systems Ltd., a joint venture with Rane, in Haryana,in India.
Oct. 2009 Completed constructing a new building ofat NSK (China) Research & Development Co., Ltd. in Kunshan Jiangsu, China.
NSK (China) Investment Co., Ltd. moved from Shanghai to NSK (China) Research & Development Co. Ltd.
July 2010 Absorbed and merged its wholly owned subsidiary, NSK Fukushima Co., Ltd.
Aug. 2010 Established Shenyang NSK Co., Ltd. in Shenyan, Liaoning Province, China as a manufacturing company for producing industrial-equipment bearings.
Sep. 2010 Established ADTeck in Shingawa Ward, Tokyo, together with Toshiba and an auto steering systems development company.
Nov. 2010 Established Rane NSK Steering Systems Ltd. in India together with Rane, which is based in India, becoming the majority stakeholder.
Jul. 2011 Established NSK Hefei Co., Ltd. in Hefei, Anhui Province, China, a production company to manufacture bearings for automobiles and industrial machinery.
Jul. 2012 Merged and absorbed NSK Precision into its own NSK operations.
Mar. 2013 Acquired stock shares in Ningbo MOS Group, a bearing manufacturer in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China; turning it into a subsidiary based on the equity-method of accounting.
Apr. 2013 Established NSK Bearing Manufacturing Mexico S.A. de C.V., which is a automotive bearing plant, in Silao City in Guanajuato.
Jun. 2015 Transferred the stock shares held in NSK Technology Co., Ltd. to V-Technology based in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
Jul. 2016 Acquired and absorbed the operations of NSK Needle Bearing Co., Ltd.
Feb. 2017 Established the Cheonan Plant in Cheonan, South Korea
Dec. 2018 Completed construction of the third production-plant building at the Haruna Plant in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture.
Mar. 2021 Completed the acquisition of Brüel & Kjær Vibro, a business specializing in condition monitoring systems, from UK-based company Spectris.
