Mexican vehicle sales down 10.7% in December, down 7.1% for 2018
On January 8, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 141,963 light vehicles in December 2018, representing a 10.7% decrease from the same month in 2017.
December was the nineteenth consecutive month that sales have been less than the corresponding month one year earlier.
General Motors sold 29,117 units in December, a decrease of 2.0% from the previous year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 17,271 units in December had decreased 23.8% from the same month in 2017.
Ford sold 5,902 units, a decrease of 24.9%, and FCA sold 7,388 units, a decrease of 22.9%.
Nissan sales of 29,602 units in December decreased 15.5% from the same month last year.
Toyota sold 12,535 units, a decrease of 6.5% from 2017, and Honda sold 8,926 units, a decrease of 6.8% from December 2017.
Mazda sales increased by 7.8% compared to December 2017 to 6,055 units.
Kia sold 8,317 units in December, an increase of 2.9% from 2017, while Hyundai sales decreased 13.9% to 4,491 units.
China’s BAIC sold 315 vehicles in Mexico in December.

On December 3, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 133,791 light vehicles in November, representing a 5.4% decrease from the same month in 2017.
November was the eighteenth consecutive month that sales have been less than the corresponding month one year earlier.
General Motors sold 24,174 units in November, a decrease of 4.4% from last year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 19,005 units in November had decreased 6.1% from the same month in 2017.
Ford sold 5,656 units, a decrease of 14.3%, and FCA sold 8,108 units, a decrease of 4.5%.
Nissan sales of 28,505 units in November decreased 14.3% from the same month last year.
Toyota sold 10,625 units, an increase of 13.0% from 2017, and Honda sold 6,552 units, a decrease of 18.2% from November 2017.
Mazda sales increased by 8 units compared to November 2017 to 5,009 units.
Kia sold 8,505 units in November, an increase of 8.8% from 2017, while Hyundai sales decreased 14.0% to 4,307 units in November.

Mexican vehicle sales drop 4.9% in October
On November 7, Mexico’s Institito Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI) reported sales of 117,325 light vehicles in October, representing a 4.9% decrease from the same month in 2017.
October was the seventeenth consecutive month that sales have been less than the corresponding month one year earlier.
General Motors sold 19,360 units in October, a decrease of 11.3% from last year.
Volkswagen Group sales of 16,112 units in October had decreased 14.0% from the same month in 2017.
Ford sold 5,336 units, a decrease of 17.0%, and FCA sold 6,777 units, a decrease of 20.2%.
Nissan sales of 24,531 units in October decreased 10.1% from the same month last year.
Toyota sold 8,578 units, an increase of 11.2% from 2017, and Honda sold 5,818 units, a decrease of 15.9% from October 2017.
Mazda sales increased 11.1% to 5,009 units.
Kia sold 8,396 units in October, an increase of 10.4% from 2017, while Hyundai sales decreased 3.5% to 4,151 units in October.

Mexican vehicle sales slide 1.5% in SeptemberOn October 3, the Mexican automotive manufacturers association AMIA reported sales of 114,653 light vehicles in September, representing a 1.5% decrease from the same month in 2017.
Sales of 1,028,379 units in the first nine months of 2018 represent a decrease of 7.1% from the same period in 2017.
September was the sixteenth consecutive month that sales have been less than the corresponding month one year earlier.
Nissan sales of 25,324 units in September decreased 10.1% from the same month in 2017.
Volkswagen Group sales of 15,511 units in September had decreased 10.3% from the previous year.
General Motors sold 18,799 units in September, a sales increase of 4.0% from the same month in 2017.
Ford sold 4,914 units, a sales decrease of 26.6%, and FCA sold 7,485 units, a sales decrease of 12.4%.
Toyota sold 8,243 units, an increase in sales of 9.7% from 2017.
Honda sold 5,821 units, a sales increase of 2.1% from the previous year.
Mazda sales increased 21.9% to 4,738 units in September.
Kia sold 8,005 units in September, a sales increase of 6.7% from the previous year.
With one model now built in Mexico, Hyundai’s September sales of 4,105 units represented an increase of 0.1% compared to 2017.

On September 4, the Mexican automotive manufacturers association AMIA reported sales of 118,715 light vehicles in August, representing a 5.3% decrease from the same month in 2017.
Sales of 913,726 units in the first eight months of 2018 represent a decrease of 7.8% from the same period in 2017.
August was the fifteenth consecutive month that sales have been less than the corresponding month one year earlier.
Nissan sales of 26,010 units in August decreased 10.3% from the same month in 2017.
Volkswagen Group sales of 16,321 units in August had decreased 11.6% from the previous year.
General Motors sold 20,574 units in August, a sales decrease of 0.4% from the same month in 2017.
Ford sold 5,783 units, a sales decrease of 20.5%, and FCA sold 7,438 units, a sales decrease of 16.0%.
Toyota sold 8,634 units, an increase in sales of 4.5% from 2017.
Honda sold 6,297 units, a sales decrease of 17.8% from the previous year.
Mazda sales increased 9.7% to 5,042 units in August.
Kia sold 8,035 units in August, a sales increase of 8.5% from the previous year.
With one model now built in Mexico, Hyundai sales of 4,225 units represented an increase of 5.5% compared to last August.

Mexican vehicle sales decrease 6.4% in JulyOn August 1, the Mexican automotive manufacturers association AMIA reported sales of 114,312 light vehicles in July, representing a 6.4% decrease from the same month in 2017.
Sales of 795,011 units in the first seven months of 2018 represent a decrease of 8.1% from the same period in 2017.
July was the fourteenth consecutive month that sales have been less than the corresponding month one year earlier.
Nissan sales of 24,240 units in July decreased 14.2% from the same month in 2017.
Volkswagen Group sales of 16,192 units in July had decreased 21.6% from the previous year.
General Motors sold 19,916 units in July, a sales increase of 1.1% from the same month in 2017.
Ford sold 5,592 units, a sales decrease of 16.9%, and FCA sold 7,177 units, a sales decrease of 15.2%.
Toyota sold 8,198 units, an increase in sales of 4.5% from 2017.
Honda sold 6,879 units, a sales decrease of 4.0% from the previous year.
Mazda sales increased 11.9% to 5,009 units in July.
Kia sold 7,508 units in July, a sales increase of 3.5% from the previous year.
With one model now built in Mexico, Hyundai sales of 4,101 units represented an increase of 22.9% compared to last July.

On June1, the Mexican automotive association AMIA reported sales of 114,492 light vehicles in May, representing a 6.9% decrease from the same month in 2017.
Sales of 560,986 units in the first five months of 2018 represent a decrease of 8.9% from the same period in 2017.
May was the twelfth consecutive month that sales have been less than the corresponding month one year earlier.
Nissan sales of 25,054 units in May decreased 14.3% from the same month in 2017.
Volkswagen Group sales of 15,246 units in May had decreased 20.1% from the previous year.
General Motors sold 20,108 units in May, a sales decrease of 2.6% from the same month in 2017.
Ford sold 5,790 units, a sales decrease of 11.5%, and FCA sold 7,323 units, a sales decrease of 3.7%.
Toyota sold 8,942 units, an increase in sales of 2.6% from 2017.
Honda sold 7,125 units, a sales decrease of 8.9% from the previous year.
Mazda sales increased 2.5% to 4,315 units in May.
Kia sold 7,411 units in May, a sales increase of 0.1% from the previous year.
With one model now built in Mexico, Hyundai sales increased 12.5% compared to last May to 4,002 units.

On May 2, the Mexican automotive association AMIA reported sales of 109,265 light vehicles in April, representing a 4.6% decrease from the same month in 2017.
Sales of 446,494 units in the first four months of 2018 represent a decrease of 9.4% from the same period in 2017.
April was the eleventh consecutive month that sales have been less than the corresponding month one year earlier.
Nissan sales of 22,534 units in April decreased 17.9% from the same month in 2017.
Volkswagen Group sales of 15,219 units in April had decreased 11.7% from the previous year.
General Motors sold 18,902 units in April, a sales decrease of 3.5% from the same month in 2017.
Ford sold 5,364 units, a sales decrease of 9.9%, and FCA sold 6,684 units, a sales decrease of 0.3%.
Toyota sold 8,566 units, a decrease in sales of 4.9% from 2017.
Honda sold 6,283 units, a sales decrease of 6.4% from the previous year.
Mazda sales increased 9.6% to 4,198 units in April.
Kia sold 7,503 units April, a sales increase of 4.1% from the previous year.
With one model now built in Mexico, Hyundai sales increased 40.5% compared to last April to 4,502 units.

According to AMIA, Mexican automobile sales in March were down 13.4% over last year, at 118,600 vehicles. Passenger cars were down 16.3% to 74,809 units, while SUVs and pickups were down 8.0% to 43,791 units. AMIA explained the slow sales due to the Easter Holidays in March 2018.
Among by maker sales in March, Nissan is the market leader with 24.0% market share. GM follows with 16.5%, then VW Group with 13.6%. Toyota was 4th with 7.0% market share, and Kia was 5th with 6.5%.
By segment sales in March, 40,315 units of subcompact cars were sold. Chevrolet Aveo (5,197 units) was a leader, followed by Nissan March (5,108 units) and Chevrolet Beat (4,324 units). In the compact car segment, 27,173 units were sold. Nissan Versa (7,920 units) was a leader, followed by VW Jetta (3,716 units) and Nissan Sentra (3,320 units). In the SUV segment, 27,039 units were sold. Honda CR-V (2,270 units) was a leader, followed by Nissan Kicks (1,880 units) and Kia Sportage (1,831 units). In the pick-up segment, 15,682 units were sold. Nissan NP300 (6,562 units) took the top position.

According to AMIA, Mexican automobile sales in February were down 7.2% over last year, at 109,484 vehicles. Passenger cars were down 12.6% to 69,072 units, while SUVs and pickups were up 3.8% to 40,412 units.
Among by maker sales in February, Nissan is the market leader with 23.1% market share. GM follows with 14.0%, then VW Group with 13.9%. Toyota was 4th with 7.4% market share, and Kia was 5th with 6.9%.
By segment sales in February, 37,645 units of subcompact cars were sold. Chevrolet Aveo (5,072 units) was a leader, followed by Nissan March (4,388 units) and VW Vento (4,250 units). In the compact car segment, 23,854 units were sold. Nissan Versa (7,406 units) was a leader, followed by VW Jetta (2,870 units) and Nissan Sentra (2,803 units). In the SUV segment, 25,092 units were sold. Honda CR-V (2,049 units) was a leader, followed by Honda HR-V (1,762 units) and Nissan Kicks (1,684 units). In the pick-up segment, 14,397 units were sold. Nissan NP300 (5,578 units) took the top position.

Mexican vehicle sales down 11.5% in January
According to AMIA, Mexican automobile sales in January were down 11.5% over last year, at 109,145 vehicles. Passenger cars were down 17.8% to 67,192 units, while SUVs and pickups were up 0.9% to 41,953 units.
Among by maker sales in January, Nissan is the market leader with 24.2% market share. VW Group follows with 15.1%, then Toyota with 8.5%. GM was 4th with 8.1% market share, and Honda was 5th with 7.7%. Kia achieved a significant market share increase from 4.7% in January 2017 to 7.3% in January 2018.
By segment sales in January, 34,600 units of subcompact cars were sold. VW Vento (4,711 units) was a leader, followed by Nissan March (4,178 units) and Chevrolet Aveo (2,969 units). In the compact car segment, 25,359 units were sold. Nissan Versa (7,621 units) was a leader, followed by Nissan Sentra (3,206 units) and VW Jetta (2,823 units). In the SUV segment, 25,797 units were sold. Honda CR-V (2,752 units) was a leader, followed by Honda HR-V (1,833 units). In the pick-up segment, 14,845 units were sold. Nissan NP300 (5,870 units) took the top position.
