Brazilian vehicle sales up 9.2% in 2017, production up 25.2%
On January 5 the Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in December increased 4.1% year-over-year (y/y) to 212,615 units.
Sales for the 2017 full year (January- December) increased 9.2% y/y to 2,239,683 units.
Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles in 2017, General Motors saw an increase of 14.5% to 348,829 units. Fiat Chrysler’s sales increased 4.4% to 261,072 units. VW sales increased 17.5% to 217,705 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA’s sales increased 3.6% to 118,986 units, VW's sales jumped 26.1% to 54,414 units, and GM’s sales increased 9.7% to 45,325 units.
The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the year. The GM Onix took the top spot with sales of 188,654 units. The Hyundai HB20 was number 2 with 105,539 units, followed by the Ford KA with 94,893 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Strada took the top spot with sales of 54,870 units, followed by the Fiat Toro with 50,723 units, and the VW Saveiro was number 3 with 42,414 units.
In ANFAVEA’s sales report by fuel type for the year, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles increased 10.1% y/y to 1,927,224 units (market share of 88.6%), diesel vehicles rose 13.0% to 176,567 units (market share of 8.1%), gasoline vehicles declined 14.4% to 68,900 units (market share of 3.2%), and hybrid and electric vehicles increased 202.1% to 3,296 units.
As for December production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 6.9% to 213,707 units. Total production for the 2017 full year increased 25.2% to 2,699,672 units. Exports in December decreased 2.6% to 61,140 units, and exports for the year increased 46.5% to 762,033 units.
Anfavea and Febabrave expect nearly12% increase in vehicle sales in 2018 to 2.5 million units.

Brazilian vehicle sales up 14.6% in November, production up 15.2%  
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in November increased 14.6% year-over-year (y/y) to 204,205 units.
Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 18.9% to 33,552 units. Fiat Chrysler’s sales decreased 3.4% to 22,267 units. VW's sales increased 48.4% to 20,892 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA’s sales increased 4.7% to 10,548 units, VW’s sales increased 139.0% to 4,697 units. GM's sales decreased 17.6% to 3,802 units.
The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The GM Onix took the top spot with sales of 18,611 units. The Ford KA was number 2 with 9,067 units, followed by the Hyundai HB20 with 8,527 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Strada took the top spot with sales of 5,295 units, followed by the Fiat Toro with 3,950 units, and the VW Saveiro was number 3 with 3,612 units.
In ANFAVEA’s sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles increased 14.3% y/y to 175,425 units (market share of 88.8%), diesel vehicles were up 16.2% from a year ago with 16,021 units (market share of 8.1%), gasoline vehicles decreased 6.3% to 5,961 units (market share of 3.0%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 50.9% to 240 units.
As for November production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 15.2% to 249,089 units. Exports in November increased 28.8% to 73,073 units.

Brazilian vehicle sales up 27.6% in October, production up 42.2%
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in October increased 27.6% year-over-year (y/y) to 202,857 units.
Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 25.4% to 32,243 units. Fiat Chrysler’s sales increased 13.6% to 22,899 units. Foed’s sales increased 28.0% to 18,469 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA’s sales increased 15.0% to 10,818 units, VW’s sales increased 253.5% to 5,791 units. GM's sales increased 6.1% to 4,272 units.

The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The GM Onix took the top spot with sales of 18,322 units. The Ford KA was number 2 with 9,689 units, followed by the Hyundai HB20 with 8,878 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Strada took the top spot with sales of 5,392 units, followed by the VW Saveiro with 4,330 units, and the Fiat Toro was number 3 with 4,122 units.
In ANFAVEA’s sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles increased 28.0% y/y to 174,369 units (market share of 88.5%), diesel vehicles were up 37.6% from a year ago with 16,518 units (market share of 8.4%), gasoline vehicles decreased 13.5% to 5,812 units (market share of 3.0%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 161.3% to 243 units.

As for October production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 42.2% to 249,932 units. Exports in October increased 66.6% to 61,554 units.

Brazilian vehicle sales up 24.5% in September, production up 39.1%
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in September increased 24.5% year-over-year (y/y) to 199,211 units.
Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 29.3% to 30,988 units. Fiat Chrysler’s sales increased 28.2% to 22,708 units. Renault’s sales increased 94.0% to 19,608 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA’s sales increased 9.9% to 9,747 units, VW’s sales increased 45.4% to 4,291 units. GM's sales decreased 0.6% to 4,263 units.

The Renault Kwid was number 2 with 10,358 units, followed by the Ford KA with 8,727 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Strada took the top spot with sales of 4,621 units, followed by the Fiat Toro with 3,918 units, and the VW Saveiro was number 3 with 3,292 units.
In ANFAVEA’s sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles increased 28.7% y/y to 173,628 units (market share of 89.6%), diesel vehicles were up 7.6% from a year ago with 13,729 units (market share of 7.1%), gasoline vehicles decreased 16.6% to 6,065 units (market share of 3.1%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 386.1% to 384 units.

As for September production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 39.1% to 236,944 units. Exports in September increased 52.2% to 60,049 units.

Brazilian vehicle sales up 17.8% in August, production up 45.7%
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in August increased 17.8% year-over-year (y/y) to 216,534 units.
Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 31.7% to 34,309 units. Fiat Chrysler’s sales increased 21.5% to 27,156 units. VW’s sales increased 46.3% to 20,972 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA’s sales decreased 6.5% to 11,004 units, VW’s sales increased 21.7% to 5,270 units. GM's sales decreased 15.1% to 3,984 units.

The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The GM Onix took the top spot with sales of 18,513 units. The Hyundai HB20 was number 2 with 10,377 units, followed by the Ford KA with 7,631 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Strada took the top spot with sales of 5,108 units, followed by the Fiat Toro with 4,793 units, and the VW Saveiro was number 3 with 4,085 units.
In ANFAVEA’s sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles increased 17.9% y/y to 186,474 units (market share of 88.7 %), diesel vehicles were up 19.2% from a year ago with 16,295 units (market share of 7.8%), gasoline vehicles increase 5.0% to 6,746 units (market share of 3.2%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 962.7% to 627 units.

As for August production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 45.7% to 260,349 units. Exports in August increased 61.7% to 66,582 units.

Brazilian vehicle sales up 1.9% in July, production up 17.9%
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in July increased 1.9% year-over-year (y/y) to 184,815 units.

Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 13.4% to 29,403 units. Fiat Chrysler’s sales increased 1.6% to 22,344 units. VW’s sales increased 3.6% to 17,710 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA’s sales decreased 15.5% to 9,804 units, VW’s sales increased 14.5% to 5,043 units. GM's sales increased 12.0% to 4,093 units.

The Hyundai HB20 was number 2 with 9,312 units, followed by the Ford KA with 7,248 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Toro took the top spot with sales of 5,028 units, followed by the VW Saveiro with 3,811 units, and the Fiat Strada was number 3 with 3,526 units.

In ANFAVEA’s sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles increased 1.2% y/y to 157,115 units (market share of 87.8%), diesel vehicles was up 17.5% from a year ago with 16,046 units (market share of 9.0%), gasoline vehicles declined 7.0% to 5,609 units (market share of 3.1%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 458.3% to 268 units.

As for July production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 17.9% to 224,763 units. Exports in July increased 42.5% to 65,722 units.

Brazilian vehicle sales up 13.5% in June, production up 15.1%
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in June increased 13.5% year-over-year (y/y) to 194,954 units.

Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 16.9% to 29,153 units. Fiat Chrysler’s sales increased 27.4% to 24,200 units. VW’s sales increased 7.3% to 18,021 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA’s sales increased 0.4% to 10,742 units, VW’s sales increased 18.0% to 4,894 units. GM's sales increased 39.7% to 4,455 units.

The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The GM Onix took the top spot with sales of 14,923 units. The Hyundai HB20 was number 2 with 9,715 units, followed by the Renault Sandero with 9,087 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Toro took the top spot with sales of 5,579 units, followed by the Fiat Strada with 4,024 units, and the VW Saveiro was number 3 with 3,631 units.

In ANFAVEA’s sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles increased 14.9% y/y to 168,395 units (market share of 88.9%), diesel vehicles was up 9.4% from a year ago with 15,050 units (market share of 7.9%), gasoline vehicles declined 6.2% to 5,800 units (market share of 3.1%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 161.5% to 238 units.

As for June production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 15.1% to 212,281 units. Exports in June increased 40.9% to 66,059 units.

Brazil car sales up 16.8% in May
According to Brazil’s National Federation of Automotive Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave) on June 1, new vehicle sales in May increased 16.8%, compared to the same month in 2016.
The 195,562 passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses, sold in May represented an increase of 24.6% compared to April.
With 191,131 units sold, the car and light commercial segments showed growth of 17.3% in May, compared to the same month last year.
Among cars and light commercial vehicles, General Motors continued to lead sales with a 17.7% share, followed by Fiat with 13.6%, Volkswagen with 12.8%, and Ford and Hyundai at 4th and 5th place, respectively.
The five leading sellers in May were the Chevrolet Onix, Ford Ka, Hyundai HB20, Renault Sandero, and Volkswagen Gol.
Fenabrave projects that passenger car and light commercial vehicles sales in 2017 will increase by 2.0%.
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased 1.0% in the first quarter compared to the fourth quarter of 2016 and consumer confidence is increasing.

Brazilian vehicle sales down 3.7% in April, production up 11.4%
The Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in April decreased 3.7% year-over-year (y/y) to 156,894 units.

Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 3.6% to 23,887 units. Fiat Chrysler’s sales decreased 2.0% to 17,784 units. VW’s sales decreased 12.0% to 15,225 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA’s sales decreased 28.3% to 7,571 units, VW’s sales decreased 10.8% to 3,575 units. GM's sales increased 1.6% to 2,820 units.

The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The GM Onix took the top spot with sales of 12,689 units. The Hyundai HB20 was number 2 with 7,934 units, followed by the Ford KA with 6,650 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Toro took the top spot with sales of 3,470 units, followed by the Fiat Strada with 3,122 units, and the VW Saveiro was number 3 with 2,895 units.

In ANFAVEA’s sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles decreased 3.0% y/y to 134,571 units (market share of 88.2%), diesel vehicles was flat from a year ago with 12,809 units (market share of 8.4%), gasoline vehicles declined 16.8% to 5,082 units (market share of 3.3%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 28.5% to 176 units.

As for April production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 11.4% to 191,069 units. Exports in April increased 48.1% to 58,753 units.

Brazilian vehicle sales up 5.5% in March, production up 18.1%
On April 6 the Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in March increased 5.5% year-over-year (y/y) to 189,149 units.

Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 11.0% to 27,484 units. Fiat Chrysler’s sales increased 5.2% to 21,293 units. VW’s sales increased 4.5% to 19,216 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA’s sales rose 2.2% to 10,084 units, VW’s sales decreased 0.8% to 4,237 units. Toyota's sales decreased 14.9% to 3,919 units.

The Hyundai HB20 was number 2 with 10,638 units, followed by the Ford KA with 8,021 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Strada took the top spot with sales of 4,570 units, followed by the Fiat Toro with 4,400 units, and the VW Saveiro was number 3 with 3,590 units.

In ANFAVEA’s sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles increased 8.7% y/y to 164,203 units (market share of 89.1%), diesel vehicles decreased 2.1% to 13,888 units (market share of 7.5%), gasoline vehicles declined 26.8% to 5,870 units (market share of 3.2%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 278.3% to 227 units.

As for March production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 18.1% to 234,746 units. Exports in March increased 64.6% to 68,482 units.

March sales were pushed up by the fleet sales and agricultural business demand for commercial vehicles, and became first positive in 26 months. March production increased at double digits helped by strong exports to Latin American countries.

Brazilian vehicle sales down 7.6% in February, production up 39.0%
On March 7 the Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in February fell 7.6% year-over-year (y/y) to 135,665 units.

Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw an increase of 2.7% to 20,587 units. Fiat Chrysler’s sales fell 9.7% to 16,883 units. VW’s sales decreased 14.2% to 13,688 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA’s sales rose 13.4% to 7,840 units, VW’s sales decreased 8.3% to 3,555 units. Toyota's sales increased 6.2% to 2,813 units.

The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The GM Onix took the top spot with sales of 11,980 units. The Hyundai HB20 was number 2 with 6,521 units, followed by the Ford KA with 5,765 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Toro took the top spot with sales of 3,582 units, followed by the Fiat Strada with 3,289 units, and the VW Saveiro was number 3 with 2,992 units.

In ANFAVEA’s sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles fell 6.3% y/y to 117,500 units (market share of 88.6%), diesel vehicles rose 4.8% to 10,633 units (market share of 8.0%), gasoline vehicles declined 34.6% to 4,337 units (market share of 3.3%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 145.3% to 157 units.

As for February production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 39.0% to 200,385 units. Exports in February increased 82.2% to 66,268 units.

ANFAVEA forecasts that March should be better for the most number of business days, but it expects no significant recovery.? ANFAVEA estimates.a recovery of the automotive sector will only happen in the next quarter.

Brazilian vehicle sales down 5.2% in January, production up 17.1%
On February 6 the Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores (ANFAVEA) announced that Brazilian new vehicle sales (including trucks and buses) in January fell 5.2% year-over-year (y/y) to 147,219 units.

Among by maker sales of passenger vehicles, General Motors saw a decrease of 3.0% to 24,329 units. Fiat Chrysler’s sales fell 24.4% to 17,494 units. VW’s sales decreased 10.8% to 14,613 units. For light commercial vehicles, FCA’s sales rose 65.4% to 8,340 units, Toyota's sales increased 28.8% to 3,670 units, and VW’s sales decreased 19.2% to 3,522 units.

The Federacao Nacional da Distribuicao de Veiculos Automotores announced passenger vehicle sales rankings by model for the month. The GM Onix took the top spot with sales of 13,900 units. The Hyundai HB20 was number 2 with 7,362 units, followed by the Ford KA with 7,079 units. For LCVs, the Fiat Strada took the top spot with sales of 4,412 units, followed by the Fiat Toto with 3,258 units, and the VW Saveiro was number 3 with 2,916 units.

In ANFAVEA’s sales report by fuel type, sales of flexible-fuel vehicles fell 4.0% y/y to 127,106 units (market share of 88.4%), diesel vehicles rose 20.1% to 11,806 units (market share of 8.2%), gasoline vehicles declined 37.6% to 4,678 units (market share of 3.3%), and hybrid and electric vehicles jumped 206.9% to 178 units.

As for January production figures (excluding CKD production), units produced increased 17.1% to 174,064 units. Exports in January increased 56.0% to 37,189 units.

ANFAVEA forecasts that the coming months will be a recovery for the automotive sector, with a reversal of the downward curve in sales starting in March.
