Auto sales in Vietnam down 2.3% in December, full year 2021 up 2.5% to 304,149
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on January 11, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were down 2.3% year on year to 46,759 units in December. CKD volume was 25,686 units, and CBU volume was 21,073 units.
2021 annual sales were up 2.5% to 304,149 units. CKD volume was 168,357 units, and CBU volume was 135,792 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in 2021 were down 2.4% to 277,203 units. VAMA members passenger car sales were down 5.6%, commercial vehicles were up 6.9%, and special purpose vehicles were up 33.6%.
By brand sales in 2021 based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) decreased 4.5% to 67,533 units (22.2% market share). Thaco Kia increased 16.2% to 45,532 units (15.0% share). Thaco Mazda sales were down 15.3% to 27,286 units (9.0% share). Mitsubishi was down 5.9% to 27,243 units (9.0% share). Ford sales were down 3.9% to 23,708 units (7.8% share).

Auto sales in Vietnam up 6.3% in November
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on December 10, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were up 6.3% year on year to 38,656 units in November.
CKD volume was 20,965 units and CBU volume was 17,691 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in November were up 4.6% y/y to 36,454 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were down 3.6%, commercial vehicles were up 39.0%, and special purpose vehicles were up 25.5%.
By brand sales in November based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was up 5.7% y/y to 9,978 units and a 25.8% market share. Thaco Kia was down 4.0% to 6,011 units and a 15.5% market share. Thaco Mazda was down 16.8% to 3,635 units and a 9.4% market share. Mitsubishi was down 20.1% to 3,222 units and a 8.3% market share. Ford was up 15.8% to 3,162 units and a 8.2% market share. Suzuki was up 122.3% to 2,668 units and a 6.9% market share. Thaco Truck was up 8.0% to 2,651 units and a 6.9% market share.
Cumulative sales for the first eleven months of the year rose 3.5% y/y to 257,390 units. Of the total, sales of CKD cars decreased 9.5% y/y to 142,671 units, and those of CBU imported cars increased 26.0% y/y to 114,719 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam down 10.4% in October
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on November 15, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were down 10.4% year on year to 29,797 units in October.
CKD volume was 15,344 units and CBU volume was 14,453 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in October were down 14.1% y/y to 27,149 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were down 26.5%, commercial vehicles were up 28.5%, and special purpose vehicles were up 43.4%.
By brand sales in October based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 20.0% y/y to 7,076 units and a 23.7% market share. Thaco Kia was down 2.7% to 4,558 units and a 15.3% market share. Ford was up 20.9% to 3,324 units and a 11.2% market share. Thaco Truck was up 17.5% to 2,650 units and a 8.9% market share. Mitsubishi was down 26.4% to 2,301 units and a 7.7% market share. Thaco Mazda was down 50.1% to 1,960 units and a 6.6% market share. Honda was down 24.2% to 1,318 units and a 4.4% market share.
Cumulative sales for the first ten months of the year rose 3.0% y/y to 218,734 units. Of the total, sales of CKD cars decreased 9% y/y to 121,706 units, and those of CBU imported cars increased 24% y/y to 97,028 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam down 50.3% in September
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on October 12, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were down 50.3% year on year to 13,537 units in September, due to the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
CKD volume was 7,316 units and CBU volume was 6,221 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in September were down 54.2% y/y to 12,296 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were down 62.2%, commercial vehicles were down 29.8%, and special purpose vehicles were up 3.5%.
By brand sales in September based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 53.8% y/y to 2,942 units and a 21.7% market share. Thaco Kia was down 43.3% to 2,184 units and a 16.1% market share. Thaco Truck was down 27.9% to 1,525 units and a 11.3% market share. Ford was down 48.0% to 1,359 units and a 10.0% market share. Thaco Mazda was down 68.5% to 1,055 units and a 7.8% market share. Mitsubishi was down 70.8% to 732 units and a 5.4% market share. Suzuki was down 59.1% to 727 units and a 5.4% market share.
Cumulative sales for the first nine months of the year rose 5.5% y/y to 188,937 units. Of the total, sales of CKD cars decreased 6.0% y/y to 106,362 units, and those of CBU imported cars increased 26% y/y to 82,575 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam down 57.0% in August
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on September 11, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were down 57.0% year on year to 8,884 units in August, due to the spread of coronavirus pandemic. Sales fell for the fifth consecutive months, the lowest monthly sales since 2015. Currently, many of the VAMA member companies’ factories and more than 200 dealers are temporarily closed.
CKD volume was 5,345 units and CBU volume was 3,539 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in August were down 60.6% y/y to 7,714 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were down 62.1%, commercial vehicles were down 59.7%, and special purpose vehicles were up 55.4%.
By brand sales in August based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 47.0% y/y to 2,257 units and a 25.4% market share. Thaco Kia was down 39.5% to 1,538 units and a 17.3% market share. Thaco Truck was down 47.9% to 950 units and a 10.7% market share. Thaco Mazda was down 67.2% to 868 units and a 9.8% market share. Honda was down 65.3% to 567 units and a 6.4% market share. Ford was down 76.2% to 477 units and a 5.4% market share. Mitsubishi was down 85.0% to 257 units and a 2.9% market share.
Cumulative sales for the first eight months of the year rose 15.5% y/y to 175,400 units. Of the total, sales of CKD cars increased 3.7% y/y to 99,454 units, and those of CBU imported cars increased 35.6% y/y to 75,946 units. Compared with the same period in 2019, the number of CKD production cars decreased by 17.0% and that of CBU import cars decreased by 8.3%.

Auto sales in Vietnam down 33.4% in July

According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on August 10, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were down 33.4% year on year to 16,035 units in July, due to the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
CKD volume was 9,024 units and CBU volume was 7,011 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in July were down 38.1% y/y to 14,457 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were down 43.3%, commercial vehicles were down 24.5%, and special purpose vehicles were up 31.2%.
By brand sales in July based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 31.8% y/y to 3,617 units and a 22.6% market share. Thaco Kia was down 21.7% to 2,317 units and a 14.4% market share. Ford was down 27.6% to 1,612 units and a 10.1% market share. Honda was up 6.4% to 1,257 units and a 7.8% market share. Thaco Truck was down 42.8% to 1,245 units and a 7.7% market share. Thaco Mazda was down 58.7% to 1,200 units and a 7.5% market share. 
YTD sales in Vietnam were up 26.9% y/y to 166,516 units. YTD CKD sales were 94,109 units, while CBU sales were 72,407 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam down 1.7% in June

According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on July 12, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were down 1.7% year on year to 23,587 units in June.
CKD volume was 13,365 units and CBU volume was 10,222 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in June were down 11.8% y/y to 20,562 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were down 15.9%, commercial vehicles were down 1.8%, and special purpose vehicles were up 48.3%.
By brand sales in June based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was up 15.0% y/y to 5,127 units and a 21.7% market share. Thaco Kia was up 28.9% to 3,290 units and a 13.9% market share. Thaco Truck was down 15.2% to 1,925 units and a 8.2% market share. Thaco Mazda was down 28.0% to 1,862 units and a 7.9% market share. Mitsubishi was down 36.8% to 1,825 units and a 7.7% market share. Honda was down 51.4% to 1,550 units and a 6.6% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were up 40.4% y/y to 150,481 units. YTD CKD sales were 85,085 units, while CBU sales were 65,396 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam up 34.1% in May
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on June 10, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were up 34.1% year on year to 25,585 units in May.
CKD volume was 13,825 units and CBU volume was 11,760 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in May were up 19.3% y/y to 22,152 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were up 27.7%, commercial vehicles were down 3.2%, and special purpose vehicles were up 125.6%.
By brand sales in May based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was up 23.3% y/y to 5,139 units and a 20.1% market share. Thaco Kia was up 115.1% to 3,336 units and a 13.0% market share. Mitsubishi was up 76.4% to 2,709 units and a 10.6% market share. Thaco Mazda was up 39.0% to 2,426 units and a 9.5% market share. Thaco Truck was down 6.5% to 2,120 units and a 8.3% market share. Ford was down 10.3% to 1,666 units and a 6.5% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were up 52.6% y/y to 126,894 units. YTD CKD sales were 71,720 units, while CBU sales were 55,174 units.

According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on May 12, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were up 155.6% year on year to 30,065 units in April.
CKD volume was up 134.3% to 17,341 units and CBU volume was up 191.8% to 12,724 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in April were up 144.2% y/y to 26,409 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were up 154.6%, commercial vehicles were up 122.5%, and special purpose vehicles were up 101.3%.
By brand sales in April based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was up 99.7% y/y to 5,598 units and a 18.6% market share. Thaco Kia was up 219.5% to 4,211 units and a 14.0% market share. Mitsubishi was up 273.1% to 3,268 units and a 10.9% market share. Thaco Truck was up 76.9% to 2,725 units and a 9.1% market share. Ford was up 265.2% to 2,564 units and a 8.5% market share. Thaco Mazda was up 90.7% to 2,534 units and a 8.4% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were up 58.0% y/y to 101,309 units. YTD CKD sales were 57,895 units, while CBU sales were 43,414 units.

According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on April 13, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were up 61.5% year on year to 30,935 units in March.
CKD volume was 17,140 units and CBU volume was 13,795 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in March were up 58.9% y/y to 29,036 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were up 62.2%, commercial vehicles were up 52.2%, and special purpose vehicles were up 41.7%.
By brand sales in March based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was up 26.9% y/y to 6,527 units and a 21.1% market share. Thaco Kia was up 105.5% to 3,745 units and a 12.1% market share. Ford was up 138.1% to 3,228 units and a 10.4% market share. Thaco Truck was up 36.8% to 2,825 units and a 9.1% market share. Auto sales in Vietnam down 22.9% in February
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on March 11, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were down 22.9%year on year to 13,585 units in February.
CKD volume was 8,610 units and CBU volume was 4,975 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in February were down 22.1% y/y to 12,939 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were down 21.0%, commercial vehicles were down 23.4%, and special purpose vehicles were down 50.2%.
By brand sales in February based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Thaco Kia was up 35.7% y/y to 2,488 units and a 18.3% market share. Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 48.5% to 2,411 units and a 17.7% market share. Thaco Mazda was down 13.4% to 1,440 units and a 10.6% market share. Honda was down 8.9% to 1,281 units and a 9.4% market share. Thaco Truck was down 37.5% to 1,225 units and a 9.0% market share. Ford was down 13.1% to 1,094 units and a 8.1% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were up 20.6% y/y to 40,017 units. YTD CKD sales were 23,122 units, while CBU sales were 16,895 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam up 67.4% in January
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on February 9, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were up 67.4% year on year to 26,432 units in January.
CKD volume was 14,512 units and CBU volume was 11,920 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in January were up 60.1% y/y to 24,216 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were up 57.4%, commercial vehicles were up 73.1%, and special purpose vehicles were up 66.0%.
By brand sales in January based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Thaco Kia was up 127.5% y/y to 4,486 units and a 17.0% market share. Toyota (excluding Lexus) was up 13.1% to 4,437 units and a 16.8% market share. Mitsubishi was up 120.0% to 3,674 units and a 13.9% market share. Honda was up 57.4% to 3,015 units and a 11.4% market share. Thaco Mazda was up 29.8% to 2,429 units and a 9.2% market share. Ford was up 25.6% to 1,592 units and a 6.0% market share.
