Auto sales in Vietnam up 44.3% in December, down 7.8% in 2020
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on January 12, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were up 44.3% year on year to 47,865 units in December. CKD volume was 29,382 units, and CBU volume was 18,483 units.
2020 annual sales were down 7.8% to 296,634 units. CKD volume was 187,104 units, and CBU volume was 109,530 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in 2020 were down 7.1% to 283,983 units. VAMA members passenger car sales were down 5.9%, commercial vehicles were down 9.9%, and special purpose vehicles were down 23.4%.
By brand sales in 2020 based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) decreased 10.9% to 70,692 units (23.8% market share). Truong Hai increased 15.8% to 64,092 units (21.6% share). Thaco Mazda sales were down 1.5% to 32,224 units (10.9% share). Mitsubishi was down 5.5% to 28,954 units (9.8% share). Ford sales were down 23.3% to 24,663 units (8.3% share).

Auto sales in Vietnam up 21.8% in November
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on December 9, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were up 21.8% year on year to 36,359 units in November.
CKD volume was 23,509 units and CBU volume was 12,850 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in November were up 25.4% y/y to 34,860 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were up 32.6%, commercial vehicles were up 1.9%, and special purpose vehicles were up 11.6%.
By brand sales in November based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was up 42.8% y/y to 9,444 units and a 26.0% market share. Truong Hai was up 66.1% to 8,795 units and a 24.2% market share. Thaco Mazda was up 81.0% to 4,369 units and a 12.0% market share. Mitsubishi was up 7.5% to 4,033 units and a 11.1% market share. Ford was up 3.2% to 2,731 units and a 7.5% market share. Honda was down 34.1% to 2,018 units and a 5.6% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were down 13.9% y/y to 248,768 units. YTD CKD sales were 157,721 units, while CBU sales were 91,047 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam up 14.9% in October
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on November 11, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were up 14.9% year on year to 33,254 units in October.
CKD volume was 20,498 units and CBU volume was 12,756 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in October were up 15.9% y/y to 31,607 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were up 18.6%, commercial vehicles were up 7.6%, and special purpose vehicles were down 1.4%.
By brand sales in October based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was up 22.5% y/y to 8,841 units and a 26.6% market share. Truong Hai was up 43.8% to 6,993 units and a 21.0% market share. Thaco Mazda was up 56.1% to 3,926 units and a 11.8% market share. Mitsubishi was down 12.3% to 3,126 units and a 9.4% market share. Ford was down 11.7% to 2,750 units and a 8.3% market share. Suzuki was up 125.7% to 2,004 units and a 6.0% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were down 18.0% y/y to 212,409 units. YTD CKD sales were 134,212 units, while CBU sales were 78,197 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam down 1.9% in September
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on October 10, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were down 1.9% year on year to 27,252 units in September.
CKD volume was 17,826 units and CBU volume was 9,426 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in September were down 0.8% y/y to 26,848 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were up 0.2%, commercial vehicles were down 3.4%, and special purpose vehicles were down 11.5%.
By brand sales in September based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 13.2% y/y to 6,366 units and a 23.4% market share. Truong Hai was up 25.0% to 6,029 units and a 22.1% market share. Thaco Mazda was up 39.3% to 3,345 units and a 12.3% market share. Ford was up 4.4% to 2,611 units and a 9.6% market share. Mitsubishi was down 18.1% to 2,509 units and a 9.2% market share. Suzuki was up 28.5% to 1,778 units and a 6.5% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were down 22.2% y/y to 179,155 units. YTD CKD sales were 113,714 units, while CBU sales were 65,441 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam down 3.9% in August
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on September 10, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were down 3.9% year on year to 20,655 units in August.
CKD volume was 12,869 units and CBU volume was 7,786 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in August were down 3.7% y/y to 19,601 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were down 1.3%, commercial vehicles were down 9.6%, and special purpose vehicles were down 30.5%.
By brand sales in August based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Truong Hai was up 17.5% to 4,412 units and a 21.4% market share. Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 15.9% y/y to 4,259 units and a 20.6% market share. Thaco Mazda was up 31.7% to 2,644 units and a 12.8% market share. Ford was down 22.1% to 2,005 units and a 9.7% market share. Mitsubishi was down 18.5% to 1,714 units and a 8.3% market share. Honda was down 12.5% to 1,634 units and a 7.9% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were down 25.0% y/y to 151,903 units. YTD CKD sales were 96,473 units, while CBU sales were 55,430 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam down 9.8% in July
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on August 11, automobile sales (including imported vehicles of non-VAMA manufactures' sales) in Vietnam were down 9.8% year on year to 24,065 units in July.
CKD volume was 16,088 units and CBU volume was 7,977 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in July were down 9.5% y/y to 23,368 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were down 7.5%, commercial vehicles were down 13.3%, and special purpose vehicles were down 48.5%.
By brand sales in July based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 28.0% y/y to 5,307 units and a 22.1% market share. Truong Hai was up 12.3% to 5,209 units and a 21.6% market share. Thaco Mazda was up 2.1% to 2,906 units and a 12.1% market share. Mitsubishi was up 44.4% to 2,704 units and a 11.2% market share. Ford was down 20.1% to 2,225 units and a 9.2% market share. Suzuki was up 15.0% to 1,272 units and a 5.3% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were down 27.5% y/y to 131,248 units. YTD CKD sales were 83,604 units, while CBU sales were 47,644 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam down 12.8% in June
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on July 11, automobile sales (including non-VAMA member import) in Vietnam were down 12.8% year on year to 24,002 units in June.
CKD volume was 15,847 units and CBU volume was 8,155 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in June were down 11.0% to 23,324 units.
VAMA members passenger car sales were down 11.9%, commercial vehicles were down 8.6%, and special purpose vehicles were down 3.3%.
By brand sales in June based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Truong Hai was up 7.4% y/y to 4,868 units and a 20.3% market share. Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 41.0% to 4,459 units and a 18.6% market share. Honda was up 6.2% to 3,188 units and a 13.3% market share. Mitsubishi was up 18.0% to 2,888 units and a 12.0% market share. Thaco Mazda was down 2.7% to 2,586 units and a 10.8% market share. Ford was down 29.4% to 1,977 units and a 8.2% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were down 30.6% y/y to 107,183 units. YTD CKD sales were 67,516 units, while CBU sales were 39,667 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam down 30.6% in May
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on June 11, automobile sales (including non-VAMA member import) in Vietnam were down 30.6% year on year to 19,081 units in May.
CKD volume was 11,095 units and CBU volume was 7,986 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in May were down 29.1% to 18,571 units. VAMA members passenger car sales were down 32.8%, commercial vehicles were down 16.8%, and special purpose vehicles were down 56.1%.
By brand sales in May based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 34.1% to 4,167 units and a 21.8% market share. Truong Hai was down 20.9% y/y to 3,849 units and a 20.2% market share. Honda was down 8.8% to 2,714 units and a 14.2% market share. Ford was down 38.1% to 1,858 units and a 9.7% market share. Thaco Mazda was down 31.6% to 1,745 units and a 9.1% market share. Mitsubishi was down 50.3% to 1,536 units and a 8.0% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were down 34.5% y/y to 83,181 units. YTD CKD sales were 51,669 units, while CBU sales were 31,521 units.

According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on May 12, automobile sales (including non-VAMA member import) in Vietnam were down 44.1% year on year to 11,761 units in April.
CKD volume was 7,400 units and CBU volume was 4,361 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in April were down 46.3% to 10,816 units. VAMA members passenger car sales were down 46.4%, commercial vehicles were down 45.9%, and special purpose vehicles were down 46.0%.
By brand sales in April based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Truong Hai was down 45.3% y/y to 2,873 units and a 24.4% market share. Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 33.1% to 2,803 units and a 23.8% market share. Thaco Mazda was down 49.0% to 1,329 units and a 11.3 % market share. Mitsubishi was down 32.6% to 876 units and a 7.4% market share. Honda was down 52.0% to 843 units and a 7.2% market share. Ford was down 67.5 % to 702 units and a 6.0% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were down 35.6% y/y to 64,100 units. YTD CKD sales were 40,574 units, while CBU sales were 23,526 units.

According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on April 10, automobile sales (including non-VAMA member import) in Vietnam were down 40.7% year on year to 19,154 units in March.
CKD volume was 11,878 units and CBU volume was 7,276 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in March were down 39.5% to 18,270 units. VAMA members passenger car sales were down 42.4%, commercial vehicles were down 31.3%, and special purpose vehicles were down 43.7%.
By brand sales in March based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was down 43.5% y/y to 5,143 units and a 26.9% market share. Truong Hai was down 24.9% to 3,922 units and a 20.5% market share. Honda was down 27.5% to 1,968 units and a 10.3% market share. Mitsubishi was down 31.2% to 1,779 units and a 9.3% market share. Ford was down 45.8% to 1,356 units and a 7.1% market share. Thaco Mazda was down 48.7% to 1,355 units and a 7.1% market share.

Auto sales in Vietnam up 41.7% in February
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on March 11, automobile sales (including non-VAMA member import) in Vietnam were up 41.7% year on year to 17,616 units in February.
CKD volume was 11,697 units and CBU volume was 5,919 units.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in February were up 45.6% to 16,696 units. VAMA members passenger car sales were up 38.8%, commercial vehicles were up 64.5%, and special purpose vehicles were up 102.2%.
By brand sales in February based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was up 103.6% y/y to 4,682 units and a 26.6% market share. Truong Hai was up 67.8% to 3,843 units and a 3,843 market share. Thaco Mazda was down 2.2% to 1,663 units and a 9.4% market share.
Mitsubishi was up 269.5% to 1,552 units and a 8.8% market share. Honda was down 13.5% to 1,406 units and a 8.0% market share. Ford was down 21.3% to 1,259 units and a 7.1% market share.
YTD sales in Vietnam were down 27.3% y/y to 33,403 units.

Auto sales in Vietnam down 52.9% in January
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) report issued on February 12, automobile sales (including non-VAMA member import) in Vietnam were down 52.9% year on year to 15,787 units in January.
CKD volume was 9,599 units, down 49%, and CBU volume was 6,188 units, down 58%.
VAMA members (20 manufactures) sales in January were down 52.2% to 15,211 units. VAMA members passenger car sales were down 52.5%, commercial vehicles were down 51.0%, and special purpose vehicles were down 37.9%.
By brand sales in January based on MarkLines Data Center figures, Toyota (excluding Lexus) was the best-selling brand in January with sales down 48.4% y/y to 3,923 units (24.8% market share), followed by Truong Hai whose sales were down 33.3% to 2,983 units (18.9%), Honda whose sales were down 55.9% to 1,916 units (12.1%), Thaco Mazda whose sales were down 63.7% to 1,871 units (11.9%), Mitsubishi whose sales were down 35.0% to 1,670 units (10.6%) and Ford whose sales were down 62.7% to 1,268 units (8.0%).
