Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 78,398 units in December increase 2.3% over the same month in 2022.
PVs (passenger vehicles) sales were up 2.9% to 70,908 units. CVs (commercial vehicles) sales were down 3.5% to 7,490 units.
Total sales in 2023 posted a record high of 799,731 units, a 10.9% increase from that of 2022.
PVs sales were up 12.0% to 719,160 units. CVs sales were up 2.0% to 80,571 units.
The number of Malaysian car production for December decreased 3.9% over the previous year to 66,224 units. Full-year production of 774,600 vehicles in 2023 represented a increase of 10.3% from 2022.
MAA forecasts that sales in January 2024 is expected to be slightly lower than December 2023 level.
Malaysia's new motor vehicle sales are expected to decline by 7.5% in 2024, said the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), following record sales of 799,731 units in 2023.
For 2024, MAA's weaker forecast is due to several factors, including global economic uncertainty due to conflicts and geopolitical tensions, and a slight slowdown in global economic growth forecasted by the International Monetary Fund to 2.9% in 2024 from 3% in 2023.

Malaysian new car sales increase by 9.6%, and production increases by 3.2% in November
On December 15, Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 71,908 units in November increased by 9.6% over the same month in 2022.
PV (passenger vehicles) sales were up 11.0% to 65,246 units. CV (commercial vehicles) sales were down 2.8% to 6,662 units.
New car sales for the first eleven months of 2023 increased 11.5% from the same period in 2022 to 718,748 units.
The number of Malaysian car production for November increases 3.2% over the previous year to 67,743 units.
New car production for the first eleven months of 2023 increased 11.8% from the same period in 2022 to 708,376 units.
According to MAA, Sales in December 2023 is expected to be similar to November 2023 level due to continuation of aggressive year-end promotion by companies having their financial year ending on 31 December 2023.

On November 15, Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 74,896 units in October increased by 21.0% over the same month in 2022.
PV (passenger vehicles) sales were up 21.8% to 67,478 units. CV (commercial vehicles) sales were up 13.7% to 7,418 units.
New car sales for the first ten months of 2023 increased 11.7% from the same period in 2022 to 646,840 units.
The number of Malaysian car production for October increases 25.8% over the previous year to 74,191 units.
New car production for the first ten months of 2023 increased 12.8% from the same period in 2022 to 640,633 units.
Sales in November 2023 is expected to be similar to October 2023's level.

Malaysian new car sales increase by 27.5%, and production increases by 28.4% in July
On August 17, Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 63,676 units in July increased by 27.5% over the same month in 2022.
PV (passenger vehicles) sales were up 30.0% to 57,939 units. CV (commercial vehicles) sales were up 7.0% to 5,737 units.
New car sales for the first seven months of 2023 increased 12.6% from the same period in 2022 to 429,807 units.
The number of Malaysian car production for July increased 28.4% over the previous year to 66,862 units.
New car production for the first seven months of 2023 increased 16.1% from the same period in 2022 to 429,397 units.
Sales in August 2023 is expected to be slightly higher than July 2023 level. This is attributed to the upcoming launch of new car models and the promotional campaigns that certain car companies are preparing for National Day.

On June 16, Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 61,795 units in May increased 22.0% over the same month in 2022.

New car production for the first five months of 2023 increased 18.0% from the same period in 2022 to 304,484 units.
Sales in June 2023 is expected to be maintained at May 2023 level as demand is still resilient due to high backlogged orders but registration volume might be slightly moderated.

Malaysian new car sales decrease 19.1%, production decreases 24.8% in April
On May 19, Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 46,583 units in April decreased 19.1 % over the same month in 2022.
PVs (passenger vehicles) sales were down 19.1% to 41,389 units. CVs (commercial vehicles) sales were down 19.6% to 5,194 units.
New car sales for the first four months of 2023 increased 10.0% from the same period in 2022 to 239,183 units.
The number of Malaysian car production for April decreased 24.8% over the previous year to 41,160 units.
New car production for the first four months of 2023 increased 14.7% from the same period in 2022 to 239,554 units.
Due to the end of PENJANA Sales Tax Exemption scheme and shorter working month given the festive Hari Raya Adilfitri holidays, sales and production were sharply decreased.

Malaysian new car sales increase 7.6%, production increases 27.0% in March
On April 17, Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 78,849 units in March increased 7.6% over the same month in 2022.
PVs (passenger vehicles) sales were up 7.7% to 70,958 units. CVs (commercial vehicles) sales were up 7.4% to 7,891 units.
New car sales for the first three months of 2023 increased 20.4% from the same period in 2022 to 192,474 units.
The number of Malaysian car production for March increased 27.0% over the previous year to 76,069 units.
New car production for the first three months of 2023 increased 28.7% from the same period in 2022 to 198,394 units.
Sales in April 2023 is expected to be much lower than March 2023 as short working month due to Hari Raya festive holidays.

On March 22, Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 62,649 units in February increased 39.0% over the same month in 2022.
PVs (passenger vehicles) sales were up 38.5% to 55,555 units. CVs (commercial vehicles) sales were up 43.5% to 7,094 units.
New car sales for the first two months of 2023 increased 29.5% from the same period in 2022 to 112,128 units.
The number of Malaysian car production for February increased 24.4% over the previous year to 63,798 units.
New car production for the first two months of 2023 increased 29.8% from the same period in 2022 to 122,325 units.
Sales in March 2023 is expected to be higher than February 2023 due to rush for deliveries by companies having their financial year ending on 31 March 2023, Hari Raya festive season promotional campaigns as well as fulfilment of bookings made during the sales exemption period.

PVs (passenger vehicles) sales were up 27.1% to 43,927 units. CVs (commercial vehicles) sales were down 20.5% to 5,534 units.
The number of Malaysian car production for January increases 36.2% over the previous year to 58,527 units.
PVs (passenger vehicles) sales were up 38.5% to 54,663 units. CVs (commercial vehicles) sales were up 10.2% to 3,864 units.
Sales in February 2023 is expected to be higher than January 2023 due to full working month as well as fulfilment of bookings made during the sales tax exemption period.
