Malaysian new car sales increase by 2.1%, and production decreases by 13.4% in March
Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 72,704 units in March increased by 2.1% over the same month in 2024. PV (passenger vehicles) sales were increased 5.1% to 68,174 units. CV (commercial vehicles) sales were decreased 28.8% to 4,530 units.
New car sales for the first three months of 2025 decreased 7.4% from the same period in 2024 to 188,122 units.
The number of Malaysian car production for March decreased 13.4% over the previous year to 58,063 units. New car production for the first three months of 2025 decreased 15.6% from the same period in 2024 to 177,603 units.
MAA attributes the increase to the Hari Raya festive celebration as well as attractive promos from auto companies.

Malaysian new car sales decrease by 1.7%, and production decreases by 7.4% in February
Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 63,906 units in February decreased by 1.7% over the same month in 2024.
PV (passenger vehicles) sales increased 0.1% to 60,189 units. CV (commercial vehicles) sales decreased 23.7% to 3,717 units.
New car sales for the two months of 2025 decreased 14.3% from the same period in 2024 to 113,056 units.
The number of Malaysian car production for February decreased 7.4% over the previous year to 61,545 units.
New car production for the two months of 2025 decreased 17.5% from the same period in 2024 to 118,444 units.
MAA had expected that sales in March to surpass those in February, driven by the end of year sales season and promotional campaigns during the Hari Raya festive season.

Malaysian new car sales decreased by 27.2%, and production decreased by 26.2% in January
Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 48,732 units in January decreased by 27.2% over the same month in 2024.
PV (passenger vehicles) sales were decreased 25.4% to 45,339 units. CV (commercial vehicles) sales were decreased 44.6% to 3,393 units.
The number of Malaysian car production for January decreased 26.2% over the previous year to 56,899 units.
MAA explained that this decline was due to a short working month (19 days) following the Chinese New Year holidays, as well as early vehicle purchases in December 2024.
