SDV-related Technologies - Lectures and Exhibits

Automotive World 2024: Elektrobit, Qualcomm, AMD, NTT Data

2024/03/21

Summary

The following is a report on coverage of Elektrobit Automotive GmbH, Qualcomm Inc., AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.), and NTT DATA Corp., which gave SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) related presentations and exhibited at the Automotive World event held in January 2024.

Elektrobit: Software platforms are changing to realize the SDV, and software structures and development environments will also change. In-vehicle OS will be used across vehicles and generations, combined with software packages developed in different life cycles, developed in virtual environments, and release times will be shortened.

Qualcomm: With the evolution of wireless networks (5G, etc.), all devices in the world will be connected to the Cloud at all times, and cars will be one of them. The company provides solutions for the Snapdragon Digital Chassis in four areas: Communications/connectivity areas, ADAS to autonomous driving areas, Instrument panels and infotainment areas, and Cloud service platforms.

AMD: Conducted demonstrations of 6 products. The AI inference demo, which used a former Xilinx FPGA (field-programmable gate array) to configure a neural network, was able to identify people passing by the exhibition booth in near real time. Since FPGAs are programmable, the ability to change circuits to meet the frequently upgraded/updated software functionality requirements of the SDV era is a major advantage.

NTT DATA: Introduced two exhibits related to SDVs. The Full Adaptive Software Platform is designed for compact, general-purpose mobility and provides hardware (ECU) and necessary software in plug-in format in line with the functional requirements of users and mobility. The other is virtualization technology and ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) that enables SDV realization and provides a software development environment and cloud virtual testing environment.
