Factors
1) Net Sales
-In the fiscal year ended December 31, 2014, the Company's net sales increased by 12.4% over the previous year to USD 852.0 million. A gain of USD 56.1 million was due to the acquisitions of new business. Growth in the Automotive and Electronics segments was partially offset by decreased sales in the Electrical segment. Overall business growth, excluding acquisitions and currency effects, resulted in a USD 38.5 million increase in sales, equivalent to a 5% increase. Unfavorable currency effects diminished sales by USD 0.4 million.

2) Operating Income
-The Company's operating income in the fiscal year ended December 31, 2014 was USD 133.8 million, an increase of 3.0% over the previous year. The increase in operating income was largely due to the increase in net sales, with negative impacts from reorganization charges, purchase accounting adjustments and severance charges partially offsetting these gains.

3) Automotive Segment
-Sales for the Company's Automotive segment increased by 21.8% from the previous year to USD 325.4 million. Increased growth in all product categories and regions led to a improved sales in the segment by USD 37.3 million. Incremental sales of USD 20.2 million from Hamlin also contributed to the segment's increase, while positive currency effects added an additional USD 0.6 million.

Product Development

SM24CANA Series TVS Diode Array
-The Company has introduced the SM24CANA Series 200W TVS Diode Array (SPA Diodes), for protecting the automotive Controller Area Network (CAN) Bus from damage due to electrostatic discharge (ESD), electrical fast transient (EFT), and other overvoltage transients. The SM24CANA Series' lower dynamic resistance provides a 10% reduction in clamping voltage compared to similar available products, improving its ability to prevent damage. (From a press release on June 24, 2014)

Discrete Unidirectional and Bidirectional TVS Diodes
-The Company has introduced the SD and SD-C Series 450W Discrete Unidirectional and Bidirectional TVS Diodes, the latest additions to its line of TVS Diode Arrays (SPA Diodes). Designed to protect against destructive electrostatic discharges (ESD) and lightning-induced surge currents, the TVS Diodes can replace multilayer varistors (MLVs) in low speed and DC applications. Their low dynamic resistance provides up to a 50% reduction in clamping voltage compared to competing technologies. The diodes can be used to protect buttons, switches, power ports, and other various low-speed I/Os in automotive electronic applications. (From a press release on May 27, 2014)

AUMOV low voltage radial-leaded varistors
-The Company has introduced the AUMOV Series of low voltage, high surge current, radial-leaded varistors for automotive applications. The AUMOV Series Varistor provides motor or inductive load transient suppression for automotive safety systems, body electronics, powertrain systems, thermal management/HVAC systems, and infotainment systems. It offers 50% greater surge withstanding capability than existing market technologies for low DC voltage applications. Its compliance with the AEC-Q200 automotive electronics industry standard makes it suitable for use in both passenger compartment and under-the-hood applications. The AUMOV Series offers a voltage range of 16VDC to 50VDC and is available in five disc sizes: 5mm, 7mm, 10mm, 14mm, and 20mm. (From a press release on March 18, 2014)

TPSMB Series TVS Diode
-The Company has introduced the TPSMB Series Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) Diode, designed for secondary protection of sensitive automotive and other electronics from transients induced by load dump and other transient voltage events. As it complies with the Automotive Electronics Council's Q101 Stress Test Qualification for Automotive Grade Discrete Semiconductors (AEC-Q101 qualified), the diode is ideal for protecting I/O interfaces, VCC bus and other vulnerable circuits used in automotive applications. Typical applications of the TPSMB Series include DC power protection and ESD protection in automotive systems like ECUs, sensors, and entertainment systems.
