CAMPI-TMA’s 2022 vehicle sales in Philippines up 31.3% to 352,596 units; best-ever monthly figure seen in December with 37,259 units
Reported on January 12, 2023, a joint report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) showed that local vehicle sales in 2022 exceeded the annual target (336,000 units) with 352,596 units sold, up 31.3% from 2021. In the month of December alone, sales reached 37,259 units (up 33.8% YoY), the highest monthly performance recorded. The 37,000-level figure was seen back in 2017, CAMPI added.
In December, sales of commercial vehicles reached 28,645 units (up 47.7% YoY), while passenger vehicle sales reached 8,614 units (up 2.0% YoY).
From January to December 2022, CAMPI-TMA’s commercial car sales grew 45.6% to 266,699 units, while passenger vehicle sales increased 0.7% to 85,897 units.
In 2022, Toyota retained its top position in the market with a 49.4% share, followed by Mitsubishi Motors and Ford Motor which held a 15.1% share and 7.0% share, respectively.
The president of CAMPI pointed that the achievement reflected the industry’s recovery from the impact of the pandemic and other external challenges. With no pandemic disruption, along with the continued expansion of the economy, creation of new jobs and opportunities, the industry will continue to capitalize on the growing market demand for new motor vehicles.

CAMPI-TMA’s vehicle sales in Philippines up 31% in January-November 2022 with 351,337 units
Reported on December 15, 2022, a joint report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) showed that local vehicle sales in the first 11 months of 2022 grew 31% to reach 351,337 units. Sales of CAMPI-TMA’s commercial car surged 45.3% to 238,054 units, while passenger vehicle posted 0.6% sales growth to 77,283 units.
In the month of November 2022 alone, sales of CAMPI-TMA reached 35,037 units, up 32.4% YoY. This was driven by commercial vehicle’s sales of 26,106 units (up 43% YoY) and passenger vehicle’s sales of 8,931 units (up 8.8% YoY).
As of the end of November, Toyota continued to lead the market with the share of 49.75%, followed by Mitsubishi Motors and Ford, holding 14.81% share and 6.8% share, respectively.
According to CAMPI president, the auto sales performance continued to improve, as it posted double-digit growth for 9 consecutive months. The auto industry underscores the importance of pent-up demand from consumers supported by continued economic recovery, boosting business and consumer confidence. These, alongside the containment of the pandemic, are significant factors toward sustained growth.

CAMPI-TMA’s vehicle sales in Philippines surge over 42% in October, up 30.9% in first 10 months of 2022
Reported on November 17, 2022, a joint report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) noted that local vehicle sales continued to post double-digit growth in the first 10 months of 2022, of which, the president of CAMPI said it helps boosting optimism for the local auto industry.
With 280,300 vehicles, sales climbed 30.9% from the first 10 months of 2021. In January-October 2022, CAMPI-TMA’s commercial car sales rose by 45.6% to 211,948 units, while passenger vehicle sales, however, slid by 0.4% to 68,352 units. Toyota continued to lead the market with a 50.10% share, followed by Mitsubishi Motors (14.51% share), and Ford (6.65% share).
In the month of October alone, sales increased over 42% to 32,146 units when compared with 22,581 units recorded in October 2021. The monthly sales of above 30,000 units were last achieved in 2019, the pre-pandemic period. By body type, commercial vehicle sales increased by 59.5% to 23,852 units and passenger vehicle sales grew 8.8%, to 8,294 units.
Sustaining this growth trend in the remaining months of the year helps ensuring that the auto sales will be able to even exceed its forecast, CAMPI added.

CAMPI-TMA’s vehicle sales in Philippines jump 64.2% in September, up 29.5% in first 9 months of 2022
Released on October 11, 2022, a joint report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) showed that local vehicle sales continued to post double-digit sales growth in the first 9 months of 2022, propelled by the demand for new motor vehicles. With 248,154 vehicles, sales surged 29.5% when compared with the same period in 2021.
From January to September, CAMPI-TMA’s commercial car sales grew by 44% to 188,096 units, while passenger vehicle sales declined by 1.5% to 60,058 units. Toyota continued to lead the market as of the end of September, with a 50.3% share, followed by Mitsubishi Motors (14.2% share), and Ford (6.6% share).
In the month of September alone, sales jumped by 64.2% to 35,282 units. By body type, commercial vehicle sales increased by 83.1% to 27,306 units and passenger vehicle sales also posted double growth at 21.2%, to 7,976 units.
CAMPI president said the auto industry foresees a continued growth in the latter part of the year, supported greatly by improving economy, attributed to strong domestic demand and continued easing of pandemic restrictions. Amid this good momentum, CAMPI added that in 2023, the industry might be able to reach the pre-pandemic levels.

CAMPI-TMA’s vehicle sales in Philippines leap 90.5% YoY in August 2022 with 30,185 units

Reported on September 15, 2022, a joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) released on September 14 showed combined sales of 30,185 units recorded in the month of August 2022, an increase of 90.5% compared to the same month in 2021. This was propelled greatly by commercial vehicle sales, which reached 23,452 units, while sales of passenger vehicles reached 6,733 units.
In the first 8 months of 2022, CAMPI-TMA sales grew 25.1% YoY to 212,872 units, of which commercial car sales rose 39% to 160,790 units. Passenger vehicle sales dropped by 4.3% to 52,082 units.
CAMPI president believed that the positive momentum in August will drive the industry to reach its 2022 sales projection. Moreover, the return of the Philippine International Motor Show will help ensuring a stronger year after a period of lower sales achievement due to the pandemic.
In January-August 2022, Toyota remained the market leader with a 51.09% share, followed by Mitsubishi Motors (4.19% share) and Nissan with a 6.81% share.

CAMPI and TMA see 18.4% vehicle sales growth in Philippines in first 7 months of 2022 with 182,687 units
Reported on August 16, 2022, a joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) released on August 15 showed combined sales of 27,813 units recorded in the month of July 2022, an increase of 29.4% compared to the same month in 2021. This double-digit growth is driven by higher demand for new motor vehicles amid improving consumer outlook in the Philippines, said CAMPI president, who also cited the improvement in the availability of jobs and employment, business recovery, and containment of the pandemic, which have greatly supported the overall economic recovery as well. In the month of July 2022, sales of commercial vehicle went up 49.1% YoY to 21,467 units, while passenger car sales dropped 10.6% to 6,346 units.
In the first 7 months of 2022, CAMPI-TMA sales reached 182,687 units, rose 18.4% YoY, of which sales of commercial vehicle improved 31.1% YoY to 137,338 units, while passenger car sales decreased 8.4% to 45,349 units. YTD sales continued be dominated by Toyota Motor, holding 51.47% share, followed by Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Suzuki, and Ford, acquiring 14.1% share, 7.06% share, 6.25% share, and 5.89% share, respectively.

CAMPI-TMA’s vehicle sales in Philippines up 16.7% YoY in H1/2022 with 154,874 units
Reported on July 19, 2022, a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) showed that sales of local car and truck makers in June 2022 increased 26.8% year-over-year (YoY) to 28,601 units.
CAMPI-TMA’s passenger car (PC) sales saw 1.0% increase YoY to 7,457 units in June 2022, while commercial vehicle (CV) sales up 39.4% YoY to 21,144 units.
In the first 6 months of 2022, CAMPI-TMA’s total sales rose 16.7% to 154,874 units, of which PC sales, went down 8% to 39,003 units and CV’s sales increased by 28.2% to 115,871 units. Toyota remained no.1 auto brand in the local market by holding 52% share, followed by Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Suzuki, and Ford, with respective shares of 13.4%, 7.2%, 6.4%, and 5.8%.

CAMPI-TMA’s vehicle sales in Philippines up 19.5% YoY in May 2022 with 26,370 units
Reported on June 16, 2022, a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) showed that sales of local car and truck makers in May 2022 rose 19.5% from the same month in 2021, jumping from 22,062 units to 26,370 units (up 4.9% MoM), amid improving economic conditions from the ripple effects of the pandemic.
CAMPI-TMA’s passenger car (PC) sales dropped 8.4% YoY to 6,964 units in May 2022, while commercial vehicle (CV) sales up 34.2% YoY to 19,406 units.
In the first 5 months of 2022, CAMPI-TMA’s total sales grew 14.6% to 126,273 units, of which PC sales, went down 9.9% to 31,546 units and CV’s sales increased by 26% to 94,727 units. Toyota retained its top position in the market with a 52% share, followed by Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Suzuki, and Ford with a 12.8% share, a 7.6% share, a 6.5% share, and a 5.5% share, respectively.
The industry is optimistic for a sustained economic growth anchored on domestic demand amid the continued containment of the pandemic, said CAMPI president.

CAMPI-TMA’s vehicle sales in Philippines grow 41% YoY in April 2022 with 25,149 units
Reported on May 14, 2022, a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) showed that sales of local car and truck makers in April 2022 grew 41% YoY to reach 25,149 units (down 15.3% MoM). This growth presents the continued containment of the pandemic, underpinned by the improved consumer demand for big-ticket items compared with 2021, said CAMPI president. In April 2022, passenger car sales reached 6,259 units, rose by 12.4% YoY, while commercial vehicle (CV) sales reached 18,890 units, jumped by 53.9% YoY.
In the first 4 months of 2022, CAMPI-TMA’s total sales surged 13.3% YoY to 99,903 units, of which PC sales declined by 10.4% to 24,582 units and CV sales up 24% to 75,321 units. Toyota Motor maintained its market leadership as of end-April with a 50.99% share, followed by Mitsubishi Motors with a 13.28% share, and Nissan with a 7.59% share. Suzuki placed fourth with a 6.3% share, while Ford Motor took the fifth place with a 6.03% share.
CAMPI president added that overall improvement in employment and domestic demand will play a critical role in the economy and the industry’s recovery.

CAMPI-TMA’s vehicle sales in Philippines climb 43% YoY in March 2022 with 29,685 units
Reported on April 19, 2022, vehicle assemblers in Philippines recorded their highest monthly sales since the pandemic, growing by 43% YoY in March 2022 with sales of 29,685 vehicles (up 22% MoM), as Metro Manila and 38 other areas moved to Alert Level 1 at the beginning of March, according to a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA). CAMPI-TMA’s passenger car (PC) sales in March dropped slightly to 6,625 units, while commercial vehicle (CV) sales increased 64.2% YoY to 23,060 units.
In Q1/2022, combined CAMPI and TMA sales rose by 6.3% YoY to 74,754 units, of which PC sales declined 16.2% to 18,323 units, while CV’s sales surged 16.5% to 56,431 units.
Toyota remained the market leader in Q1 with a 49.8% share, followed by Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Ford, and Suzuki, holding 13.8% share, 7.9% share, 6.2% share, and 6.1% share, respectively
The local auto industry remains cautiously optimistic about full recovery in 2022, CAMPI president added.

CAMPI-TMA’s vehicle sales in Philippines decrease 7.34% YoY in February 2022 with 24,304 units
Announced on March 10, 2022, according to a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), total vehicle sales in February 2022 reached 24,304 units, down 7.34% from the 26,230 units recorded in February 2021 but grew 17% MoM.
Sales in the passenger car (PC) segment dropped 25% YoY to 5,914 units, while commercial vehicle (CV) sales slightly increased to 18,390 units from 18,331 units seen in February 2021. CAMPI president said the MoM growth in sales in February was seen amid improved consumer confidence as the Philippines shifted to low-risk classification for COVID-19.
In the first 2 months of 2022, CAMPI-TMA’s total vehicle sales dropped by 9.2% YoY to 45,069 units, of which PC sales declined 23% to 11,698 units and CV sales dropped 3% to 33,371 units. As of end-February, Toyota Motor continued to hold the biggest share in vehicle sales at 49%, followed by Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Suzuki, and Ford, which held 14.33% share, 7.85% share, 6.43% share, and 6% share, respectively.
With the further reopening of the economy, the industry is anticipating a continued recovery in March. Local auto industry retains its sales target to jump 17% to 336,000 units in 2022.

Philippines' CAMPI-TMA vehicle sales in January 2022 shrink 11% YoY with 20,765 units
Reported on February 12, 2022, sales of locally made cars and trucks in the Philippines fell 11% YoY and 25.4% MoM in January 2022 to reach  20,765 units, according to a joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), amid increasing COVID-19 cases, which led to the imposition of tighter restrictions particularly in NCR (National Capital Region) and nearby provinces.
Passenger car (PC) sales dropped 20.7% YoY to 5,784 units in January, while commercial vehicle (CV) sales declined 6.9% to 14,981 units.
Historically, the first month of the year is sluggish, coming from the higher growth sales performance recorded every holiday season, CAMPI president added. Vehicle sales of CAMPI-TMA members are expected to rise 20%-30% in 2022.
In January 2022, Toyota continue holding the biggest share in vehicle sales, accounting for 47.57%, followed by Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Suzuki, and Ford, holding 14.23%, 8.58%, 6.89%, 5.84% shares, respectively.
