German passenger car sales down 26.9% in December, down 10.1% in 2021
On January 5, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in December decreased 26.9% over the previous year to 227,630 units.
Full-year registrations of 2,622,132 vehicles in 2021 represented a decrease of 10.1% from 2020.              
In 2021, VW sales of 489,962 units (18.7% market share) decreased 6.8% year-over-year and Mercedes-Benz sales of 225,392 units (8.6% share) decreased 25.7%. BMW sales of 222,481 units (8.5% share) decreased 7.7%. Audi sales of 181,877 units (6.9% share) decreased 15% and Opel sales of 161,852 units (6.2% share) increased 10.7%. Skoda sales of 149,838 units (5.7% share) decreased 17.3%.  
In 2021, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 37.1% market share to 972,588 units. Hybrid vehicles had a 28.8% market share to 754,588 units and EV had a 13.6% market share to 355,961 units. Diesel vehicles had a 20.0% market share to 524,446 units.       
Sales of 293,359 trucks in 2021 represented a decrease of 0.6% over the previous year while sales of 6,474 buses were a 0.2% increase.        
The VDA announced that the total sales of passenger car exports of 2,378,400 units had decreased 10% and domestic production of 3,104,600 units had decreased 12% year over year.

German passenger car sales down 31.7% in November 2021
On December 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in November decreased 31.7% over the previous year to 198,258 units.  
In November, VW sales of 29,561 units (14.9% market share) decreased 42.1% year over year.
Mercedes sales of 20,586 units (10.4% share) decreased 37.4% and BMW sales of 16,738 units (8.4% share) decreased 31.8%.
Opel sales of 13,063 units (6.6% share) decreased 28.8%.
Skoda sales of 11,467 units (5.8% share) decreased 32.9% and Audi sales of 10,548 units (5.3% share) decreased 44.9%.
In November, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 33.3% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 29.9% market share to 59,251 units and EV had a 20.3% market share to 40,270 units. Diesel vehicles had a 15.8% market share.  
Sales of 23,341 trucks in November represented a decrease of 24.9% over the previous year while sales of 758 buses were a 5.1% increase.  
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 227,100 units had decreased 33% and domestic production of 307,200 units had decreased 32% year over year.

German passenger car sales down 34.9% in October 2021
On November 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in October decreased 34.9% over the previous year to 178,683 units.
In October, VW sales of 28,211 units (15.8% market share) decreased 40.2% year over year.
Mercedes sales of 17,978 units (10.1% share) decreased 45.0% and BMW sales of 17,452 units (9.8% share) decreased 16.2%.
Opel sales of 12,204 units (6.8% share) decreased 27.6%.
Ford sales of 9,968 units (5.6% share) decreased 39.9% and Audi sales of 8,842 units (4.9% share) decreased 57.7% year over year.
In October, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 36.2% market share, Hybrid vehicles had a 28.7% market share, Diesel vehicles had a 17.3 % market share and EV had a 17.1% market share.
Sales of 22,982 trucks in October represented a decrease of 26.1% over the previous year, while sales of 459 buses were a 8.4% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 177,700 units had decreased 39.0% and domestic production of 237,000 units had decreased 38.0% year over year.

German passenger car sales down 25.7% in September 2021
On October 5, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in September decreased 25.7% over the previous year to 196,972 units.
In September, Volkswagen brand sales of 31,002 units (15.7% market share) decreased 23.3% year over year.  
BMW sales of 16,487units (8.4% share) decreased 18.7% and Mercedes-Benz sales of 13,734 units (7.0% share) decreased 49.8%.
Opel sales of 13,222 units (6.7% share) decreased 1.2%.
Hyundai sales of 10,359 units (5.3% share) decreased 11.8% and Audi sales of 9,934 units (5.0% share) decreased 38.9%.
In September, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 35.9% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 30.5% to 60,159 units and EV had a 17.1% market share to 33,655 units. Diesel vehicles had a 15.9% market share.
Sales of 21,883 trucks in September represented a decrease of 19.5% over the previous year, while sales of 423 buses were a 26.3% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 154,400 units had decreased 43% and domestic production of 208,700 units had decreased 44% year over year.

German passenger car sales down 23.0% in August 2021
On September 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in August decreased 23.0% over the previous year to 193,307 units.
In August, Volkswagen brand sales of 36,223 units (18.7% market share) decreased 17.4% year over year.  
BMW sales of 16,137 units (8.3% share) decreased 25.1% and Audi sales of 14,375 units (7.4% share) decreased 12.4%.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 13,945 units (7.2% share) decreased 50.0% and Opel sales of 10,245 units (5.3% share) increased 7.9%.
Hyundai sales of 10,079 units (5.2% share) decreased 8.1%.
In August, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 35.5% market share to 68,598 units. Hybrid vehicles had a 31.4% to 60,720 units. Diesel vehicles had a 17.7% market share to 34,171 units and EV had a 14.9% market share to 28,860 units.
Sales of 21,787 trucks in August represented a decrease of 14.5% over the previous year, while sales of 515 buses were a 4.3% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 107,700 units had decreased 33% and domestic production of 133,600 units had decreased 32% year over year.

German passenger car sales down 24.9% in July 2021
On August 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in July decreased 24.9% over the previous year to 236,393 units.
In July, Volkswagen brand sales of 49,808 units (21.1% market share) decreased 16.6% year over year.  
Mercedes-Benz sales of 21,456 units (9.1% share) decreased 37.6% and BMW sales of 20,437 units (8.6% share) decreased 27.7%.
Audi sales of 17,533 units (7.4% share) decreased 23.3% and Opel sales of 13,631 units (5.8% share) increased 16.0%.
Skoda sales of 13,034 units (5.5% share) decreased 41.0%.
In July, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 39.4% market share to 93,176 units, Hybrid vehicles had a 29.5% to 69,795 units. Diesel vehicles had a 19.7% market share to 46,660 units and EV had a 10.8% market share to 25,464 units.
Sales of 23,777 trucks in July represented a decrease of 10.8% over the previous year, while sales of 569     buses were a 6.9% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 172,200 units had decreased 27% and domestic production of 246,600 units had decreased 25% year over year.

German passenger car sales up 24.5% in June 2021
On July 5, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in June increased 24.5% over the previous year to 274,152 units.
In June, Volkswagen brand sales of 57,159 units (20.8% market share) increased 46.1% year over year.  
BMW sales of 21,847 units (8.0% share) increased 20.9% and Audi sales of 20,124 units (7.3% share) increased 29.0%.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 17,723 units (6.5% share) decreased 19.3% and Opel sales of 16,535 units (6.0% share) increased 69.3%.
Skoda sales of 15,288 units (5.6% share) increased 12.5%.
In June, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 39.5% market share, Hybrid vehicles had a 27.9%. Diesel vehicles had a 19.9% market share and EV had a 12.2% market share.
Sales of 29,714 trucks in June represented an increase of 30.1% over the previous year, while sales of 564 buses were a 24.0% increase.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 201,500 units had decreased 6% and domestic production of 247,400 units had decreased 19% year over year.

German passenger car sales up 37.2% in May 2021
On June 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in May increased 37.2% over the previous year to 230,635 units.
In May, Volkswagen brand sales of 45,243 units (19.6% market share) increased 53.0% year over year.  
BMW sales of 19,668 units (8.5% share) increased 92.1% and Audi sales of 18,561 units (8.0% share) increased 33.4%.
Skoda sales of 15,269 units (6.6% share) increased 56.3%.
Mercedes-Benz sales of 14,598 units (6.3% share) decreased 14.8% and Opel sales of 12,374 units (5.4% share) increased 41.5%.
In May, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 37.7% market share, Hybrid vehicles had a 27.9%. Diesel vehicles had a 22.3% market share and EV had a 11.6% market share.
Sales of 25,895 trucks in May represented an increase of 47.7% over the previous year, while sales of 379 buses were a 15.9% increase.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 177,700 units had increased 75% and domestic production of 250,100 units had increased 58% year over year.

German passenger car sales up 90.0% in April 2021
On May 5, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in April increased 90.0% over the previous year to 229,650 units.
In April, Volkswagen brand sales of 43,230 units (18.8% market share) increased 108.4% year over year.  
Mercedes-Benz sales of 21,992 units (9.6% share) increased 158.5% and BMW sales of 20,441 units (8.9% share) increased 64.7%.
Audi sales of 16,807 units (7.3% share) increased 87.4% and Opel sales of 14,149 units (6.2% share) increased 174.6%.
Skoda sales of 13,617 units (5.9% share) increased 88.4%.
In April, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 39.2% market share, Hybrid vehicles had a 27.9%. Diesel vehicles had a 21.9% market share and EV had a 10.4% market share.
Sales of 26,184 trucks in April represented an increase of 62.6% over the previous year, while sales of 410 buses were a 73.0% increase.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 252,000 units had increased 1,011% and domestic production of 316,200 units had increased 2,701% year over year.

German passenger car sales up 35.9% in March 2021
On April 7, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in March increased 35.9% over the previous year to 292,349 units.
In March, Volkswagen brand sales of 56,550 units (19.3% market share) increased 39.1% year over year.  
Mercedes-Benz sales of 27,520 units (9.4 % share) increased 36.7% and BMW sales of 23,445 units (8.0% share) increased 17.0 %.
Audi sales of 22,235 units (7.6% share) increased 17.6% and Opel sales of 18,998 units (6.5% share) increased 75.1%.
Skoda sales of 16,865 units (5.8% share) increased 39.2%.
In March, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 39.4% share, Hybrid vehicles had a 27.8% share, Diesel vehicles had a 22.1% share and EV had a 10.3% share.
Sales of 31,740 trucks in March represented a increase of 36.2% over the previous year, while sales of 422 buses were a 13.0% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 296,100 units had increased 23% and domestic production of 373,900 units had increased 29% year over year.

German passenger car sales fall 19.0% in February 2021
On March 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in February decreased 19.0% over the previous year to 194,349 units, due to the impact of coronavirus pandemic.
In February, Volkswagen brand sales of 40,115 units (20.6% market share) decreased 9.7% year over year.  
Audi sales of 17,054 units (8.8% share) decreased 11.0% and Mercedes-Benz sales of 16,901 units (8.7% share) decreased 28.3%.
BMW sales of 16,508 units (8.5% share) decreased 6.3% and Opel sales of 12,443 units (6.4% share) decreased 11.3%.
Skoda sales of 12,120 units (6.2% share) decreased 18.5%.
In February, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 37.7% market share, diesel vehicles had a 25.4% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 27.1% and EV had a 9.4% market share.
Sales of 23,297 trucks in February represented a decrease of 2.0% over the previous year, while the sale of 393 buses was a 20.3% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 232,900 units had decreased 19% and domestic production of 323,600 units had decreased 17% year over year.

German passenger car sales fall 31.1% in January 2021
On February 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in January decreased 31.1% over the previous year to 169,754 units, due to the impact of coronavirus pandemic.
In January, Volkswagen brand sales of 34,189 units (20.1% market share) decreased 29.9% year over year.  
Mercedes-Benz sales of 17,912 units (10.6% share) decreased 31.2 % and BMW sales of 16,479 units (9.7% share) decreased 19.4%.
Audi sales of 11,616 units (6.8% share) decreased 47.4%, Skoda sales of 11,382 units (6.7% share) decreased 20.4% and Opel sales of 10,220 units (6.0% share) decreased 16.8%.
In January, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 37.1% market share, diesel vehicles had a 26.1% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 26.8% and EV had a 9.6% market share.
Sales of 19,516 trucks in January represented a decrease of 19.1% over the previous year, while the sale of 458 buses was a 27.3% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 204,100 units had decreased 19% and domestic production of 262,800 units had decreased 23% from last January.
