German passenger car sales up 1.1% in 2022
On January 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in December 2022 increased 38.1% over the previous year to 314,318 units. The total sales in 2022 increased 1.1% over the previous year to 2,651,357 units.
In 2022, VW sales of 480,967 units (18.1% market share) decreased 1.8% year over year and Mercedes sales of 243,999 units (9.2% share) increased 8.3%.
Audi sales of 213,410 units (8.0% share) increased 17.3%.
BMW sales of 209,722 units (7.9% share) decreased 5.7% and Opel sales of 144,588 units (5.5% share) decreased 10.7%.
Skoda sales of 143,928 units (5.4% share) decreased 3.9%.
In 2022, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 32.6% market share to 863,445 units. Hybrid vehicles had a 31.2% market share to 827,321 units and diesel vehicles had a 17.8% market share to 472,274 units.
EV had a 17.7% market share to 470,559 units.
Sales of 253,894 trucks in 2022 represented a decrease of 13.5% over the previous year, while sales of 4,883 buses were a 24.6% decrease.
The VDA announced that 2022 passenger car exports of 2,612,800 units had increased 10% and domestic production of 3,431,600 units had increased 11% year over year.

German passenger car sales up 31.4% in November 2022
On December 5, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in November increased 31.4% over the previous year to 260,512 units.
In November, VW sales of 46,807 units (18.0% market share) increased 58.3% year over year and Mercedes sales of 27,591 units (10.6% share) increased 34.0%. Audi sales of 22,054 units (8.5% share) increased 109.1%.
BMW sales of 18,983 units (7.3% share) increased 13.4% and Ford sales of 13,567 units (5.2% share) increased 54.3%. Opel sales of 12,799 units (4.9% share) decreased 2.0%.
In November, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 27.9% market share. Hybrid vehicles were 88,278 units and EV had a 22.3% market share to 57,980 units. Diesel vehicles had a 15.3% market share.
Sales of 26,992 trucks in November represented an increase of 15.6% over the previous year, while sales of 509 buses were a 32.8% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 280,100 units had increased 26% and domestic production of 385,700 units had increased 25% year over year.

German passenger car sales up 16.8% in October 2022
On November 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in October increased 16.8% over the previous year to 208,642 units.
In October, VW sales of 41,159 units (19.7% market share) increased 45.9% year over year and Mercedes sales of 21,303 units (10.2% share) increased 18.5%. Audi sales of 17,228 units (8.3% share) increased 94.8%. BMW sales of 15,032 units (7.2% share) decreased 13.9% and Ford sales of 11,887 units (5.7% share) increased 19.3%.
Skoda sales of 11,555 units (5.5% share) increased 50.8%.
In October, Hybrid vehicles had a 32.8% market share to 68,533 units. Gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 32.0% market share to 66,676 units and Diesel vehicles had a 17.5% market share to 36,554 units. EV had a 17.1% market share to 35,781 units.
Sales of 19,426 trucks in October represented a decrease of 15.5% over the previous year, while sales of 332 buses were a 27.7% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 218,500 units had increased 23% and domestic production of 277,900 units had increased 30% year over year.

German passenger car sales up 14.1% in September 2022
On October 6, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in September increased 14.1% over the previous year to 224,816 units.
In September, VW sales of 40,371 units (18.0% market share) increased 30.2% year over year and Mercedes sales of 20,065 units (8.9% share) increased 46.1%.
Audi sales of 17,068 units (7.6% share) increased 71.8%.
BMW sales of 16,449 units (7.3% share) decreased 0.2% and Skoda sales of 14,631 units (6.5% share) increased 53.4%.
Tesla sales of 13,724 units (6.1% share) increased 73.7%.
In September, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 32.2% market share.
Hybrid vehicles had a 30.4% market share to 68,433 units and EV had a 19.7% market share to 44,389 units.
Diesel vehicles had a 17.0% market share.
Sales of 20,284 trucks in September represented a decrease of 7.3% over the previous year while sales of 400 buses were a 5.4% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 277,200 units had increased 71% and domestic production of 366,700 units had increased 65% year over year.

German passenger car sales up 3.0% in August 2022
On September 5, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in August increased 3.0% over the previous year to 199,183 units.
In August, VW sales of 38,049 units (19.1% market share) increased 5.0% year over year and Mercedes sales of 18,300 units (9.2% share) increased 31.2%.
Audi sales of 17,499 units (8.8% share) increased 21.7%.
BMW sales of 15,931 units (8.0% share) decreased 1.3% and Skoda sales of 11,634 units (5.8% share) increased 21.0%.
Opel sales of 10,562 units (5.3% share) increased 3.1%.
In August, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 34.9% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 30.0% market share to 59,835 units and EV had a 16.1% market share to 32,006 units. Diesel vehicles had a 18.2% market share.
Sales of 20,155 trucks in August represented a decrease of 7.5% over the previous year, while sales of 341 buses were a 33.8% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 162,300 units had increased 58% and domestic production of 207,400 units had increased 68% year over year.

German passenger car sales down 12.9% in July 2022
On August 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in July decreased 12.9% over the previous year to 205,911 units.
In July, VW sales of 39,933 units (19.4% market share) decreased 19.8% year over year and BMW sales of 17,288 units (8.4% share) decreased 15.4%.
Mercedes sales of 16,520 units (8.0% share) decreased 23.0%.
Audi sales of 16,260 units (7.9% share) decreased 7.3% and Skoda sales of 13,270 units (6.4% share) increased 1.8%.
Opel sales of 11,985 units (5.8% share) decreased 12.1%.
In July, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 36.0% market share to 74,094 units.
Hybrid vehicles had a 29.1% market share to 59,962 units and EV had a 14.0% market share to 28,815 units.
Diesel vehicles had a 20.1% market share to 41,386 units.
Sales of 18,704 trucks in July represented a decrease of 21.3% over the previous year, while sales of 376 buses were a 33.9% decrease.

German passenger car sales down 18.1% in June 2022
On July 5, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in June decreased 18.1% over the previous year to 224,558 units.
In June, VW sales of 43,456 units (19.4% market share) decreased 24.0% year over year and BMW sales of 19,706 units (8.8% share) decreased 9.8%.
Mercedes sales of 19,398 units (8.6% share) increased 9.5%.
Audi sales of 17,494 units (7.8% share) decreased 13.1% and Opel sales of 13,609 units (6.1% share) decreased 17.7%.
Skoda sales of 12,314 units (5.5% share) decreased 19.5%.
In June, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 37.0% market share.
Hybrid vehicles had a 29.1% market share with 65,363 units and EV had a 14.4% market share with 32,234 units.
Diesel vehicles had a 18.9% market share.
Sales of 20,478 trucks in June represented a decrease of 31.1% over the previous year while sales of 357 buses were a 36.7% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 237,000 units had increased 22% and domestic production of 302,500 units had increased 19% year over year.

German passenger car sales down 10.2% in May 2022
On May, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in May decreased 10.2% over the previous year to 207,199 units.
In May, VW sales of 38,782 units (18.7% market share) decreased 14.3% year over year and Mercedes sales of 18,008 units (8.7% share) increased 23.4%.
BMW sales of 17,158 units (8.3% share) decreased 12.8%.
Audi sales of 16,287 units (7.9% share) decreased 12.3% and Opel sales of 13,057 units (6.3% share) increased 5.5%.
Ford sales of 12,153 units (5.9% share) increased 4.5%.
In May, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 36.0% market share, hybrid vehicles had a 29.3% market share.
EV had a 14.1% market share and diesel vehicles had a 20.3% market share.
Sales of 19,838 trucks in May represented a decrease of 23.4% over the previous year, 332 buses were a 12.4% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 242,900 units had increased 34% and domestic production of 306,500 units had increased 25% year over year.

German passenger car sales down 21.5% in April 2022
On May 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in April decreased 21.5% over the previous year to 180,264 units.
In April, VW sales of 29,873 units (16.6% market share) decreased 30.9% year over year and BMW sales of 16,527 units (9.2% share) decreased 19.1%.
Mercedes sales of 16,471 units (9.1% share) decreased 25.1%.
Audi sales of 14,286 units (7.9% share) decreased 15.0% and Ford sales of 10,024 units (5.6% share) decreased 15.9%.
Opel sales of 9,560 units (5.3% share) decreased 32.4%.
In April, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 36.1% market share. Hybrid vehicles had a 31.5% market share to 56,786 units and Diesel vehicles had a 19.6% market share. EV had a 12.3% market share to 22,175 units.
Sales of 17,539 trucks in April represented a decrease of 33.0% over the previous year, 253 buses were a 38.3% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 183,700 units had decreased 23% and domestic production of 257,600 units had decreased 13% year over year.

German passenger car sales down 17.5% in March 2022

On April 5, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in March decreased 17.5% over the previous year to 241,330 units.   
In March, VW sales of 38,543 units (16.0% market share) decreased 31.8% year over year and Audi sales of 21,752 units (9.0% share) decreased 2.2%.
Mercedes sales of 20,360 units (8.4% share) decreased 26.0%.  
BMW sales of 19,804 units (8.2% share) decreased 15.5% and Ford sales of 12,942 units (5.4% share) decreased 6.7%.  
Skoda sales of 12,249 units (5.1% share) decreased 27.4%.  
In March, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 34.9% market share. Hybrid vehicles had 75,713 units and EV had a 14.3% market share to 34,474 units. Diesel vehicles had a 18.7% market share.     
Sales of 24,723 trucks in March represented a decrease of 22.1% over the previous year, 385 buses were a 8.8% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 200,200 units had decreased 35% and domestic production of 267,600 units had decreased 29% year over year.

German passenger car sales up 3.2% in February 2022
On March 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in February increased 3.2% over the previous year to 200,512 units.
In February, VW sales of 36,889 units (18.4% market share) decreased 8.0% year over year and Mercedes sales of 18,512 units (9.2% share) increased 9.5%.
Audi sales of 16,381 units (8.2% share) decreased 3.9%.
BMW sales of 15,619 units (7.8% share) decreased 5.4% and Skoda sales of 12,739 units (6.4% share) increased 5.1%.
Opel sales of 11,698 units (5.8% share) decreased 6.0%.
In February, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 34.5% market share to 69,195 units.
Hybrid vehicles had a 29.7% market share to 59,473 units and Diesel vehicles had a 20.7% market share to 41,471 units.
EV had a 14.1% market share to 28,306 units.
Sales of 20,536 trucks in February represented a decrease of 11.9% over the previous year, 321 buses were a 18.3% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 231,200 units had increased 1% and domestic production of 318,700 units had decreased 1% year over year.

German passenger car sales up 8.5% in January 2022
On February 3, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that new passenger car registrations in January increased 8.5% over the previous year to 184,112 units.
In January, VW sales of 36,593 units (19.9% market share) increased 7% year over year and Mercedes sales of 18,730 units (10.2% share) increased 4.6%.
Audi sales of 14,903 units (8.1% share) increased 28.3%.
BMW sales of 14,822 units (8.1% share) decreased 10.1% and Skoda sales of 12,218 units (6.6% share) increased 7.3%.
Opel sales of 11,175 units (6.1% share) increased 9.3%.
In January, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 36.7% market share to 67,575 units.
Hybrid vehicles had a 29.4% market share to 54,126 units and EV had a 11.3% market share to 20,892 units.
Diesel vehicles had a 21.6% market share.
Sales of 18,612 trucks in January represented a decrease of 4.6% over the previous year, 439 buses were a 4.1% decrease.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 189,100 units had increased 6% and domestic production of 256,300 units had increased 8% year over year.
