Introduction

The robotaxi segments have seen lots of negative trends in the last year. Probably the biggest shock was Ford and VW shutting down Argo.ai in October 2022.

A major impact of Argo's demise was the VC environment for autonomous vehicles and especially robotaxis became very difficult for additional funding.

It is interesting that in the last few months we have seen numerous announcements of new robotaxi testing in several cities by multiple players. Is this an indication we have gone through the Trough of Disillusionment of the Gartner hype curve? And entering the Slope of Enlightenment?

This report is an analysis of recent activities in the robotaxi industry with a focus on summarizing which cities have robotaxi tests, pilots and commercial services. Cities that have started robotaxi activities in the last year or have near-term plans are of special interest. The analysis focuses mostly on the U.S. and European activities.
