2024/08/16

Summary

This report was prepared by MarkLines based on patent information from the "Technical Information Distribution Service - swimy" provided by Toyota Technical Development Corporation (TTDC), and reports on recent technology topics surrounding the auto industry. The two business areas of TTDC are intellectual property (IP) and measurement control solutions. The IP side of TTDC is involved in the collection and analysis of information on automotive technology developments globally, and provides services such as consulting for research planning, applying for patents in foreign languages, and technical translation.

Using data from the Japan Patent Office's Patent Application Technology Trend Survey, the collaborative development trends of Toyota Motor Corporation, which has filed the most patent applications for solid-state batteries, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which has filed the most patent applications in China, were analyzed. Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) has been actively collaborating with the University of Maryland on development projects, but this has been declining in recent years. It was also shown that in recent years Toyota has been strengthening its collaborative development with Panasonic Corporation (Panasonic). As for the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it was shown that there is active collaborative development with the Tianmu Lake Institute of Advanced Energy Storage Technologies and the Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center Co., Ltd.

Additionally, trends in collaborative development of active materials were also analyzed. This is an area that was noted as important in the Japan Patent Office survey.
