U.S. auto sales down 1.6% in July; hybrid shift continues, Japanese and South Korean brands mark solid performance
According to preliminary figures compiled by MarkLines as of August 4, U.S. new vehicle sales in July 2026 (including estimated figures for GM, Stellantis etc.) totaled 1,365,976 units, down 1.6% year-over-year. The number of selling days in July was the same as a year earlier, at 26 days.
