U.S. auto sales up 4.4% in September; Japanese and South Korean makers growth driven by strong hybrids demand
According to preliminary data compiled by MarkLines as of October 2, 2026, including estimates for GM and Stellantis, U.S. new-vehicle sales in September 2026 totaled 1,321,668 units, up 4.4% year-over-year. The number of selling days in September was 25, the same as in the same month of the previous year.
