U.S. auto sales rise 2.1% in August as demand for EVs surges as subsidies end in September
MarkLines' preliminary figures for August 2025 (including estimates from GM, Stellantis, Tesla, and others) compiled as of September 4 show that U.S. new car sales increased 2.1% year-on-year to 1,456,805 units. The number of business days in August was 27, one day fewer than the same month last year.
