History

May 1919 Established Sawafuji Electric Industries in Zoshigaya, Toshima-ku, Tokyo and started the business of repairing automotive electric starters and alternators.
Jun. 1934 Changed the name of the Company to Sawafuji Electric Co., Ltd. with capital of 0.3 million yen and started production and sales of magnets for use in agricultural machinery and small vessels.
May 1936 Moved headquarters and plant to Shimura-Nakadaimachi, Itabashi-ku, Tokyo.
Nov. 1936 Submitted prototypes of automotive starters and alternators to the Japanese Army.  Started manufacturing the assigned parts and selling them to a related automobile company.
Dec. 1945 Reverted to civilian production, re-established plant, and resumed production of magnets for agricultural machinery and small vessels.
Aug. 1946 Started manufacturing and sales of automotive starters and alternators.
May 1949 Listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Sep. 1976 Transferred all factory operations to the Nitta Factory.
Apr. 1977 Moved headquarter to Nerima-ku, Tokyo.
Jan. 1979 Started manufacturing and sales of refrigerators for buses.
Jun. 1987 Started manufacturing and sales of built-in refrigerators for passenger cars.
Mar. 1999 Started manufacturing and sales of retarders.
Jul. 2008 Moved its headquarters to Ota City, Gunma pref., Japan.
Jan. 2012 Established Sawafuji Electric Thailand Co., Ltd. in Thailand.
May 2019 Launched the manufacture and sale of HV motors
